OCTOBER 22nd COUNTRY FAIR AUCTION OF A ‘BLACKBURN’ TRAILOR We are all looking forward to our Country Fair this Saturday and the weather prediction is very good. I would like to make special mention of an incredible donation from one of our families – the MacGregor’s, who own Blackburn Trailers. This family has generously donated a brand new 6x4 Heavy Duty single axle trailer with 12” sides, front and rear tail- gate, 6” jockey wheel, 12 months warranty and made using 100% Aus- tralian materials. A blurb from their website - ‘Blackburn Trailers started out in Blackburn on the corner of Pope St. and Maroondah Highway back in 1956 in the early 90s it was taken over by Mike Corbett who started ‘Austrailers’ A division of Blackburn Trail- ers with the growing success of the company over the past 20 years it is now one of the best trailer manufacturers in Victoria. Well known for its quality work. In 2015 Corey MacGregor took over the company and since then they are now recognised as the only trailer manufacturer certified to use the Australian made logo due to the quality of materials. With unparalleled service and workmanship Blackburn Trailers will be around for many years to come.’ The trailer will be auctioned at 2:00pm on Saturday. My carpenter son has informed me they are the best trailers. COUNTRY FAIR AUCTION OF A ‘BLACKBURN’ TRAILOR

We are all looking forward to our Country Fair this Saturday and the

weather prediction is very good. I would like to make special mention of

an incredible donation from one of our families – the MacGregor’s, who

own Blackburn Trailers. This family has generously donated a brand new

6x4 Heavy Duty single axle trailer with 12” sides, front and rear tail-

gate, 6” jockey wheel, 12 months warranty and made using 100% Aus-

tralian materials. A blurb from their website -

‘Blackburn Trailers started out in Blackburn on the corner of Pope St.

and Maroondah Highway back in 1956 in the early 90s it was taken over

by Mike Corbett who started ‘Austrailers’ A division of Blackburn Trail-

ers with the growing success of the company over the past 20 years it is

now one of the best trailer manufacturers in Victoria. Well known for its

quality work. In 2015 Corey MacGregor took over the company and since

then they are now recognised as the only trailer manufacturer certified

to use the Australian made logo due to the quality of materials. With

unparalleled service and workmanship Blackburn Trailers will be around

for many years to come.’

The trailer will be auctioned at 2:00pm on Saturday. My carpenter son

has informed me they are the best trailers. On behalf of the school

community we sincerely thank the MacGregor family for this amazing gift

that will help us to achieve a healthy profit.

MESSAGE FROM THE COUNTRY FAIR ORGANISERS

We are still short of helpers on the food and all school stalls so we need parents to put up their

hands and help out even if it’s for just an hour! We also need helpers at both ends of the day in

setting and packing up as well as parking officials.. Please contact the office and leave your details.

COUNRTY FAIR PARKING

We are expecting many visitors to our school on Saturday so parking will be a problem. The Salvation

Army folk across the road have been amazing in giving us permission to use their car parking space

on the west side of Liverpool Road. An electronic messaging board will be placed on Liverpool Road,

north of the school warning oncoming traffic there is an event ahead, to slow down and keep an eye

out for pedestrians crossing the road. We sincerely thank the Dobson family who have allowed us to

place this message board on the inside of their property!

STUDENT PLACEMENT REQUESTS

If you have any information based upon education grounds that should be considered in relation to

the placement of your child it need to be sent to me in writing by FRIDAY 30TH OCTOBER.As situ-

ations change, previous requests should be resubmitted if the reason still exists. After this date, new

information may not be considered. Parents will be notified of placements in Student Reports when

they are sent home in the last week of term.

2016 YEAR 7TRANSITION PLACEMENTS

At different times during the year I’m asked what schools our grade 6 students will be attending in

Year 7. Below is a table showing where our Grade 6 cohort is going next year.

I would take this opportunity to urge parents of Grade 5 students to start looking at secondary op-

tions now as Grade 6 students are required to nominate their preferred secondary school by May of

each year.

OSH CLUB REPORT

I recently met with the OSHCLUB area manager who presented and discussed the term 3 report.

You may be interested to know that the average weekly attendance in term 3 was 22 children in the

before school program and 33 in the after school program. The term 2 holiday program averaged 35

children and the term 3 average was 31. Needless to say that OSHCLUB are very happy with these

figures.

CURRICULUM DAY 2ndNOVEMBER

Pupil Free Curriculum Day for the year is on Monday 2nd November. The Melbourne Cup public holi-

day falls on the Tuesday 3rd November so school will resume in that week on Wednesday 4th No-

vember.
