    POV Compare Contrast

We all see life through our own eyes. It is often said that weshould walk a mile in each others shoes to better understandwho the other person is. In literature, often authors select aspecific Point of View to tell a story. This has a dramatic

influence over the kind of story being told, how charactersare viewed, and how biased information might be. As areader, consider this story from a different Point of View. Howwould the narration be different, the characterization, thevalidity, or truth of the story? Compare and Contrast thisPoint of View to the actual Point of View. How are they

different? Similar? Once you compare and contrast these twopoints of view, come to a conclusion for why the authorchose this Point of View over another POV.

As you read the story, pay close attention to whois telling the story, the way characters are reveled(characterization), and if the narration is biased.

This will be what you will need to consider in adifferent POINT OF VIEW.

After you finish reading. Fill out the Point of View

organizer. This should help you write the CompareContrast Essay.

We can really understand only those thingsthat are familiar to us or similar to thingswe already understand, so comparing andcontrasting the unfamiliar with the familiaris one of the most important techniques forwriting. You can, and probably do, usecomparison and contrast to describe

things, to define things, to analyze things,to make an argument -- to do, in fact, almost any kind of writing.
