• Together they assisted Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji • Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji unexpectedly became the

guru at a very young age • Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji became known as the

Guru of Courage and built the Philosophy of social justice

• As Guru Ji’s fame grew, the muslim emperors started to get worried

• 52 others that were already jailed – 52 cornered robe

• Guru Hargobind Sahib returned to Harmandar Sahib on Diwali and was welcomed by the sangat led by Baba Buddha Ji and Bhai Gurdas Ji.

• So, now, why Diwali is important to Sikhs – more importantly , we say, Happy Bundhi Chor Divus.

Today’s Announcements

• All volunteers, must sign-in at the office.• MLK Essay Contest

Topic: ‘What are you doing for others?’ The essay must be between 750 and 1,000 words Contest open to all eighth grade students attending public

and private schools in King County. Purpose of the essay contest is to encourage middle and

junior high school students to think critically about Dr. King’s legacy of peace and justice.

Keertan Announcements

• Students who would like to play keertan on stage must sign up with me to volunteer AFTER you have spoken with your keertan teachers. BOTH the parent and student must come together to hear the guidelines and sign on the line.

• Keertan stage uniform: white salwar/kameez, kurta/pajama, chola with saffron or navy blue turban.

• To tie turbans, Dr. Kulwant Singh veerji will be tying at 1:30 in the school office area downstairs in the langar hall. Khalsa Gurmat School
