OMEGAMON Performance Management Suite V5.5
Reduced Deployment Time, Reduced Errors
Internal testing found time savings from over 35% in deploying OMEGAMON V5.5.0 releases over V5.3.0
by using updated PARMGEN utilities
Errors in deployment reduced though auto-discovery versus manual completion of values
Streamlined Architecture
Elimination of older non-strategic UIs and utilities can remove up to 6 monitoring address spaces per LPAR
Enhanced 3270UI provides users with single integrated view of their Z systems. Less time switching between
tools
CPU Improvements
Highly focused “smart” zIIP offloading of key functions makes most efficient use your zIIP investment
Targeted performance improvements in key components such as in OMEGAMON for IMS
Application Trace Facility demonstrating 12-18% reductions in CPU usage over previous release
Updates Driven By Client Feedback
Improved monitoring support for plex-wide resources and new resources led through
customer interaction within extensive
feedback sessions and over 25 significant RFEs implemented across the suite
Simplified, Faster Deployment
Reduced overhead and time to deploy OMEGAMON runtime environment:
• Fewer address spaces
• Fewer parameters to configure
• Leverage z/OS DLA to discover online resources and auto-populate configuration parameters
• Improved utilities to assist with configuration management
Basic versus Advanced Parameters
Most clients can configure their monitoring RTE using a subset
of parameters. Advanced settings available, if needed.
Together with a 20% reduction in parameters, only 10% of
remaining parameters now need to be reviewed (most of which
can be auto-discovered).
Faster configuration using z/OS DLA
Allow users to exploit functions of the DLA to discover online subsystems and resources
and automatically include these in the PARMGEN RTE configuration user profiles
Reduces complexity, time-to-value. More accurate configuration decks.
