FUN FACTS...CHECK US OUT! 1889 – Wharf No. 1Redondo’s 1st Pier; timber deliveries from ships trans-ferred to trains headed for L.A. Destroyed by storm in 1915.
1916 – Endless/Pleasure PierRebuilt Pier became major tourist destination; damaged by storm in 1919 and condemned in 1928.
1925 – Wooden Monstad Pier“Historic Municipal Pier” built by Captain Hans C. Monstad as a “landing” for cargo and pleasure boats, water taxis, and fishermen. Now home to the Redondo Landing.
1925 – Looff Hippodrome Carousel BuildingHoused Danish master wood carver Charles I.D. Looff’s world famous wooden carousel horses that can command prices in excess of $50,000 each.
1929 – Wooden Horseshoe PierReplaced Endless/Pleasure Pier. Damaged by 100 year storm in 1988; destroyed by spectacular fire in 1989 as the world watched on TV.
1995 – Today’s Endless/Horseshoe PierBuilt by City on site of destroyed wooden Horseshoe Pier; now the largest “endless” pier on the California Coast.

R E D O N D O B E A C H P I E R The Redondo Beach Pier, also known as “Muncipal Pier” is located in Redondo Beach and stretches out into the Pacific Ocean. This pier spans 70,000 square feet in size and goes 25 feet above the water. “The first Redondo Beach Pier was originally built in 1889 and since then has undergone a few rennovations. The Pier is centrally located just 8 miles south of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The Pier is the last landmark still representing that era, and continuing to host visitors from around the world and supporting regional tourism. The current seventh generation horseshoe-shaped pier, is known for its 70,000 square-feet of open space, and as the largest “endless” pier on the California coast. This pier offers beautiful oceanfront dining, shopping and entertainment. Visitors are also able to take advantage of the water activities including harbor cruises, seasonal whale watching, kayaks, pedal boats and S.U.P. rentals.
