Welcome to Avegates, your very own social experience network
Life is to be lived and enjoyed, and Avegates is about encouraging people with disability to live their best possible life, especially under the most trying of circumstances.
As we navigate a new world with constant changes, we understand that connecting with each other is now more important than ever. We are excited to offer a new program of online social experiences with something for everyone. Compete against your friends in our Avegates Online Trivia night, practice your singing skills with our amazing choirmaster or dance along to your favorite tunes – it’s entirely up to you.
Each month we will offer a program of activities for you to gain new experiences and get the most out of life. We will provide support workers to facilitate each event to ensure you can focus on the fun!
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO TAKE PART?
All you need to take part is an internet connection and a camera of some description. This could be a webcam or camera built into a TV or computer. All sessions will be hosted through Multicap’s Microsoft Teams application. Once you have booked in you will receive an invite to your designated email address with the link that you click on to join in.
On the night, 5 minutes before the scheduled start time, you simply open the email/meeting request and click the link to join.
We will send out more detailed instructions to you so it’s nice and easy on the night and you can focus on having fun.
HOW TO BOOKBookings are required in advance, with bookings for all experiences closing five days prior to the event date. Please complete the Avegates booking form and return via email to [email protected] or call us on 1300 135 886. If you cancel with inadequate notice or no show on the day to a pre-booked activity then you may be charged a cancellation fee as per the Terms and Conditions set out in your Service Agreement.
Avegates Choir ClubThe Southside Singers are a hardworking group of music lovers. The Southside Singers are an all-abilities choir that promotes inclusiveness and celebrates fun!
The Southside Singers get together regularly to rehearse and they also perform for a variety of audiences, including everyone from friends and family to local community groups and all the way to Government House!
Bookings are required in advance. You can book using the Avegates booking form.

BEFORE YOU BOOKIn order to attend an Avegates event, we first need to register you as a Multicap customer.
We will need an initial consultation with you for the purpose of introducing ourselves and the Avegates program, to get an understanding of your interests and to complete the paperwork required to establish you as a Multicap customer.
We can then discuss your support needs for attending your chosen event and organise this for you.
CANCELLATION POLICYNotice periods apply. Cancellations outside of these times may not be refunded. Cancellations will be accepted as set out in our service agreement.
For all out-of-hours contact or emergencies, including on-the-day-cancellations, please contact 1300 135 886. This is an emergency on-call service. You will need to provide your full name, best contact details, Avegates event e.g. ‘Avegates Dance Party ’ and the nature of the call.

KaraokeThis is Multicap’s own version of The Voice!Are you a soul singer, or more of a crooner? Can you sing like Mick Jagger, and do you have the moves to keep your audience entertained? If so, you’ll love our karaoke nights, and everyone will love to hear you sing!

Polynesian HulaYou'll enjoy this peek into the culture and dance of Polynesian people. Our Polynesian dance teacher will guide you through the basics of Polynesian dance, movement and rhythm and also teach you about beautiful Polynesian culture and traditions. Don't forget to dress up in your best Hawaiian outfits too!

Trivia NightProve yourself the ultimate trivia master as you challenge your friends online at the Avegates Trivia night. Are you a movie expert? Do you know lots about Australian animals? Take on the Avegates Trivia challenge and you might emerge the Avegates Trivia Champion!

Dining InJust because we can’t go out for dinner doesn’t mean we can’t connect with our friends over a meal. Bring your dinner (entirely your choice) and join in for the chance to connect with your friends (and maybe meet some new ones) over a lovely meal. One of our fantastic support workers will join you to help get the ball rolling and make sure everyone gets a chance to connect with fellow Avegators from all over Queensland.
