In installedcondition, this appliance complies with the applicable safetystipulations and with directives 2014/35/EU, 2014/30/EU,2009/125/EG, 2011/65/EU and 2010/30/EU.The BioFresh compartment meets the requirements of a coldstorage compartment as set out in DIN EN 62552:2020.

1.5 EPREL databaseDetails about energy labelling and ecodesign requirements willbe available on the European product database (EPREL) from

1st March 2021. You can access the product database at thefollowing link: https://eprel.ec.europa. eu/ You will be asked toenter the model ID. You can find the model ID on the name-plate.

1.6 Saving energy- Pay attention to good ventilation. Do not cover ventilation

holes or grids.- Always keep the fan air slits clear.- Do not install the appliance in direct sunlight, next to an

oven, radiator or similar.- Energy consumption is dependent on the installation condi-

tions, e.g. ambient temperature (see 1.2 Appliance range ofuse) . If the ambient temperature deviates from the standardtemperature of 25°C, the energy consumption may differ.

- Open the appliance for as short a time as possible.- The lower the temperature is set the higher the energy

consumption.- Arrange the food in an organised way (see 1 Appliance at a

glance) .- Keep all food properly packed and covered. This prevents

frost from forming.- Only take food out for as long as necessary so that it doesn’t

warm up too much.- Inserting warm food: allow to cool down to room temperature

first.- Thaw frozen food in the refrigerator.- If there is a thick layer of frost in the appliance: defrost the

appliance.*- If you intend to be on holiday for a long time use the holiday

function (see 5.4.4 Holiday mode) .

2 General safety informationDanger for the user:- This device can be used by children and

people with impaired physical, sensory ormental abilities or with a lack of experienceand knowledge provided that they are super-vised or have received instruction in the safeuse of this device, and about the resultinghazards. Children must not play with thisappliance. Cleaning and user maintenancework must not be carried out by childrenwithout adult supervision. Children agedbetween 3 and 8 are allowed to load andunload the appliance. Children below the ageof 3 must be kept away from the applianceunless they are under continuous adult super-vision.

- When disconnecting the appliance from thesupply, always take hold of the plug. Do notpull the cable.

- In the event of a fault pull out the mains plugor deactivate the fuse.

- Do not damage the mains power cable. Donot operate the appliance with a defectivemains power cable.

- Repairs, interventions on the appliance andthe replacement of mains connection line mayonly be carried out by After-Sales Service orother suitably trained specialist personnel.

appliance (e.g. steam cleaners, heaters, icecream makers, etc.).

• If the refrigerant leaks: remove any nakedflames or ignition sources from the vicinityof the leakage point. Properly air the room.Inform customer services.

- Do not store explosives or sprays usingcombustible propellants such as butane,propane, pentane, etc. in the appliance. Toidentify these spray cans, look for the list ofcontents printed on the can, or a flamesymbol. Gases possibly escaping may ignitedue to electrical components.

The symbol can be located on thecompressor. It refers to the oil in thecompressor and indicates the followingdanger: Swallowing or inhaling can be fatal.This is only relevant for recycling. There is nodanger in normal operation.This symbol is found on the compressor andindicates the danger of flammable materials.Do not remove the sticker.

A sticker to this effect may be applied to therear of the appliance. It refers to the foam-padded panels in the door and/or thehousing. This is only relevant for recycling. Donot remove the sticker.

3.2 Temperature displayDuring normal operation, the display shows:- the highest freezing temperature- the average cooling temperatureThe freezer temperature display flashes if/when:- You change the temperature setting- The appliance is not cold enough after switching on- The temperature rises by several degreesStripes flash in the display if/when:- The freezer temperature exceeds 0 °C.The following displays indicate a fault. 4 Putting into operation4.1 Switching on the applianceNoteThe manufacturer recommends:u Store frozen produce at -18 °C or colder.Switch on the appliance approx. 2 hours before loading for thefirst time.

4.1.1 Switching on the entire appliance at thefreezer compartmentu Open the door.u Press On/Off button, freezer compartment Fig. 2 (8).w The temperature display of the refrigerator compartment

indicates the current temperature inside.w The temperature display of the freezer compartment and the

alarm symbol flash until the temperature is sufficiently low. Ifthe temperature is above 0 °C, dashes flash. If it is below,the current temperature flashes.

w If “DEMO” is displayed, demo mode is activated. Pleasecontact the after sales service.

4.1.2 Switching on refrigerator andBioFresh compartmentNoteBefore going on holiday, or other prolonged periods of non-useu You can switch the fridge section on/off separately from the

freezer section.u Open the door.u Press On/Off button, refrigerator compartment Fig. 2 (1).w The fridge and BioFresh section are on: Fridge temperature

display Fig. 2 (2) is on. When you open the door the interiorlight comes on.

5 Control5.1 Child proofingThe child-proofing function enables you to makesure that the appliance is not inadvertently switchedoff by playing children.

5.1.1 Setting the child lock functionu To activate the setting mode: press SuperFrost button

5.2 Door alarmFor the fridge, BioFresh and freezer compartmentsAn audible warning sounds if the door is open forlonger than 60 seconds.The audible warning stops automatically when thedoor is closed.

5.2.1 Muting the door alarmThe audible alarm can be muted when the door is open. Thesound switch-off function is active as long as the door is leftopen.u Press alarm button Fig. 2 (14).w The door alarm is silenced.

5.3 Temperature alarmThe audible alarm sounds if the freezer temperatureis not cold enough.The temperature display and the alarm symbolFig. 2 (15) flash at the same time.

The cause of the temperature being too high may be:- warm fresh food was placed inside- too much warm ambient air flowed in when rearranging and

removing food- Prolonged power outage- the appliance is faultyThe audible alarm is automatically silenced, the alarm symbolFig. 2 (15) goes out and the temperature display stops flashingwhen the temperature is sufficiently cold again.If the alarm status persists: (see 7 Malfunctions) .NoteFood may be spoilt if the temperature is not cold enough.u Check the quality of the food. Do not consume spoiled food.

5.3.1 Muting the temperature alarmThe audible alarm can be muted. When the temperature issufficiently cold again, the alarm function is active again.u Press alarm button Fig. 2 (14).w The audible alarm is silenced.

5.4 Refrigerator compartmentThe natural circulation of air in the refrigerator compartmentresults in zones differing in temperature. It is coldest directlyabove the plate separating off the BioFresh zone and at therear wall. It is warmest at the top front of the compartment andin the door.

5.4.1 Refrigerating foodNoteThe energy consumption increases and the cooling perform-ance decreases if the ventilation is inadequate.u Always keep the air slits of the fan free.u Place butter and preserves in the top area and in the door.

(see 1 Appliance at a glance)u Use reuseable plastic, metal, aluminium, glass containers

and foil wrap to store food.u Always store raw meat and fish in clean, sealed containers

on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, to prevent themcoming into contact with or dripping onto other foods.

u Foods that easily absorb or give off smell or taste, as well asliquids, should be stored in sealed containers or covered.

u Use the front area of the base shelf only to temporarily setdown refrigerated foods, for example while rearranging orsorting the contents. Remember not to leave refrigeratedfoods here as they could shift to the back or tip over whenyou close the door.

u Do not pack foods too closely together, as the air needs tocirculate.

5.4.2 Setting the temperatureThe temperature depends on the following factors:- the frequency of opening the door- how long the door is open for- the room temperature of the installation location- the type, temperature and quantity of the foodThe temperature can be set from 9 °C to 3 °C, the recom-mended temperature is 5 °C.NoteIf the temperature is to be colder than 3 °C:u set the cooling temperature to 3 °C.u Set the BioFresh temperature to a value between b4

(slightly colder) and b1 (coldest)(see 5.5 BioFresh compartment)

u For a higher temperature setting: press Up button, refriger-ator compartment Fig. 2 (3).

u For a lower temperature setting: press Down button, refriger-ator compartment Fig. 2 (4).

w When the button is pressed for the first time, the previouslyset value is indicated, flashing, in the refrigerator compart-ment temperature display.

u To change the temperature in 1 °C steps: briefly press thebutton.

u To change the temperature continuously: hold down thebutton.

w The value is displayed flashing during the setting operation.w The actual temperature is displayed about 5 s after the last

press of a button. The temperature slowly adjusts to the newvalue.

5.4.3 SuperCool

SuperCool is for maximum cooling. This option is for very lowtemperatures:- In the fridge compartmentUse SuperCool to quickly cool large amounts of food.When SuperCool is activated, the fan* may run. The applianceoperates with maximum cooling performance, which meansthat the noise of the refrigeration unit may be temporarilylouder.The SuperCool function uses slightly more energy.Switching onSuperCoolu Briefly press SuperCool button Fig. 2 (6).w The SuperCool Fig. 2 (7) symbol lights up in the display.w The cooling temperature drops to the lowest setting.w SuperCool is on.w SuperCool turns off automatically. The appliance continues

5.4.4 Holiday modeThe holiday mode saves energy and prevents odourfrom occurring when the door of the refrigeratorcompartment stays closed for a lengthy period.The freezer compartment remains in operation in theholiday mode.Activating the holiday modeu Remove all the food from the refrigerator

u Press the holiday button Fig. 2 (5) for 3 sec.

5.4.5 ShelvesMoving or removing shelvesThe shelves are prevented from being pulled out accidentallyby pull out stops.

Fig. 3 u Lift the shelf and pull forward a little.u Adjust the height of the shelf. To do this move the slots along

the supports.u In order to remove the shelf fully, place it at a slant and pull

out towards the front.u Re-insert shelves at the required height. The stops must

face downwards and lie behind the front shelves.Dismantling shelvesu The shelves can be disman-

tled for cleaning.

5.4.6 Using the sectioned shelfu Slide the sectioned shelf

under, as shown in theillustration.

5.4.7 Using adjustable bottle shelfAt the base of the refrigerator compartment, the integratedbottle shelf or alternatively the glass shelf can be used:u Using the bottle shelf: to

save space, store the glassshelf under the bottle shelf.

u Place the bottles with thebase pointing backwardsfacing the rear wall.If the bottles project beyondthe bottle shelf:

u set the lower door rack oneposition higher.

5.4.8 VarioSafe*The VarioSafe provides space for small items of food and pack-ages, tubes and jars.Using VarioSafe*

5.4.10 Using the bottle holderu To avoid the bottles tipping

over, push the bottle holderalong.

5.4.12 Egg trayYou can take out and rotate the egg tray. You can use the twoparts of the egg tray to mark different use-by dates, forexample.

u Use the top part to store e.g. chicken eggs.u Use the bottom part to store quails' eggs.

5.5 BioFresh compartmentIn the BioFresh section, certain fresh foods can be kept freshfor longer compared to conventional cooling methods.For food with an indicated best before date, the date specifiedon the packaging always applies.If the temperature falls below 0 °C, foodstuffs can freeze.

5.5.1 DrySafeThe DrySafe is suitable for storing dry or wrapped food (e.g.dairy products, meat, fish, sausages). A relatively dry storageclimate is established here.

5.5.2 Fruit & Vegetable safeThe humidity in the Fruit & Vegetable safe depends on themoisture content of the items being stored and the number oftimes the door is opened. You can set the humidity yourself.On the high moisture setting, the Fruit & Vegetable safe is suit-able for storing loose salad, vegetables and fruit with a highmoisture content. A well-stocked drawer is stored in absolutefreshness.

5.5.3 Setting the moisture level in the Fruit &Vegetable safe

Low humidity: Slide the slide bar backwards.w The openings in the cover are partially or fully open. The

moisture levels drop in the Fruit & Vegetable safe.u

High humidity: Slide the slide bar forwards.w The openings in the cover are partially or fully closed. The

moisture levels rise in the Fruit & Vegetable safe.

5.5.4 Storing foodNoteu Do not put the following in the BioFresh section: cold-sensi-

tive vegetables including cucumbers, aubergines, tomatoes,courgettes and any cold-sensitive tropical fruits.

u To prevent food spoilage due to transfer of germs: Storeunwrapped animal and vegetable products separate fromone another in the drawers. This also applies to differentsorts of meat.If food has to be stored together due to lack of space:

u wrap the food.u Storing high-moisture content foods: shake off the moisture

beforehand.If there is too much moisture in the compartment:

u select the low moisture setting.-or-u Remove any excess moisture with a cloth.

5.5.6 Adjusting the temperature in theBioFresh compartmentRecommended refrigerator setting: 5 °C. The BioFresh temper-ature is controlled automatically and is between 0 °C and 3 °C.You can set a slightly higher or lower temperature. The temper-ature can be adjusted between b1 (coldest temperature) andb9 (hottest temperature) The default is b5. With levels b1 to b4the temperature may drop below 0 °C so that the food canfreeze.u To activate the setting mode: press the SuperFrost button

5.5.7 Drawers with cushioners

removal.u Push the rails in again!

5.5.8 Fruit & Vegetable safe cover

the drawers, carefully pull the cover towards you and down.u Replacing the Fruit & Vegetable safe cover: Guide the ridges

5.5.9 Using the FlexSystemThe FlexSystem helps you store and organise your food in aclear and flexible way. It lets you clearly divide your food intofruit, vegetables or by use-by dates, for example.

5.6 Freezer compartmentYou can store frozen food, make ice cubes and freeze freshfood in the freezer compartment.

5.6.3 Setting the temperature in the freezercompartmentThe appliance is pre-set for normal operation.The temperature can be set from -15 °C to -26 °C, the recom-mended temperature is -18 °C.u To set the temperature higher: press Up button, freezer

compartment Fig. 2 (10).u To set the temperature lower: press Down button, freezer

5.6.4 SuperFrostWith this function you can freeze fresh food quicklythrough to the core. The appliance operates withmaximum refrigeration. The noise of the refrigerationunit may be temporarily louder as a result.In addition, frozen food already in storage is given a “coldreserve”. The food stays frozen longer as a result when youdefrost the appliance.*You can freeze as many kilograms of fresh food within 24 hrs asis indicated on the type plate under “Freezing capacity ... kg/24hrs”. This maximum freezing quantity can vary depending onmodel and climate class.You have to activate SuperFrost in good time, depending onhow much fresh food is to be frozen: about 6 hours beforeplacing the food inside in case of small amounts and about 24hours in advance in case of the maximum amount of food to befrozen.Wrap produce and spread it out as far as possible. 6 Maintenance6.1 Manual defrosting*Fridge compartment:The refrigerator compartment is defrosted automatically. Thedefrost water evaporates as a result of the heat of thecompressor. Drops of water on the rear wall are perfectlynormal.u Regularly clean the drain opening to allow the water to flow

away (see 6.3 Cleaning the appliance) .Freezer compartment:A layer of frost or ice can build up in the freezer compartmentafter a long period of operation.The layer of frost or ice builds up faster if the appliance isopened often or if the food is warm when placed inside.However, a thick layer of ice will increase the appliance‘senergy consumption. You should therefore defrost the appli-ance regularly.Thawing process:
