This is a great way for all levels to create your OWN version of the day's painting to proudly display to friends and family. Paints, canvas, easels, brushes, and thinners are included. The Zentangle method is a fun and easy-to-learn technique for creating intricate abstract images using simple repetitive patterns. If you can print your own name, you have all the skills required for this fascinating art form! Like yoga for your soul, it can help increase focus and relaxation, and decrease stress. Materials fee: $12, includes a black .01 Micron pen, Zentangle pencil, tortillon, and five white Zentangle tiles in a drawstring bag

Zentangle—Renaissance Tiles * (ages 14 & up) FA03 Tues., Nov. 5, 6:30–9 p.m. JH: Library $25

Working on tan-coloured tiles, we'll explore a technique called “chiaroscuro,” developed in the Renaissance period to exemplify the strong contrasts between light and dark. We will use black, brown, and white to make our tangles “pop.” Prerequisite: Introduction to Zentangle. Bring your Zentangle mini-kit (pen, pencil, and blender) and materials fee of $12 for your kit, which will include a brown .01 Micron pen, white charcoal pencil, tortillion, and tan tiles.

NEW! Zentangle-Inspired Art— Tangled 3D Bell * (ages 14 & up) FA04 Tues., Dec. 3, 6:30–9 p.m. JH: Library $25

We’ll use three square tiles to create a three-dimensional tangled bell. A lovely holiday decoration or folded flat to be mailed as a gift! Prerequisite: Introduction to Zentangle. Bring your Zentangle mini-kit (pen, pencil, and blender) and materials fee of $2. for your tiles, ribbon and bell.

Using only two fabrics, this quilt is made simply of squares with sashing and a border. You’ll learn to use a rotary cutter and sewing strip sets. The first class – with fabric provided - you’ll practise making the quilt block and will discuss the materials you’ll need to make either a 90x109-inch (or smaller) quilt, or a table runner and cushion cover in same quilt design. Learn about installation of sinks, toilets, showers, faucets, ice machines, garbage disposals, basic DWV (drains, waste, vents) systems, unclogging drains safely, and proper ABS gluing techniques. You’ll also cover pipe-freezing prevention, plumbing tools of the trade, safety practices, measuring and reading schematics (including building codes), troubleshooting plumbing problems, and soldering and non-soldering techniques for copper tubing and Pex lines. We require your registration on company letterhead and we will invoice your employer.

Refunds

Full refunds will be issued for courses cancelled due to insufficient enrolment. You may choose to use the refund toward the fee for another course. If you withdraw from a course, a $10 administration charge will be deducted from your refund. Refunds are not granted after a course begins or for one–session classes.

Right to cancel/postpone classes

RETSD Adult & Continuing Education reserves the right to cancel or postpone courses or specific class sessions due to unavail-ability of instructors, prior claim to facilities by a school, insufficient enrolment, inclement weather, statutory holidays or emergencies. For unscheduled cancellations/postponements, reasonable effort will be made, depending on the length of notice the Continuing Education office receives, to notify participants prior to the session(s) affected.
