What does prayer mean? It is talking and listening to God. Because we are called to be in a relationship with God we need prayer to be a dialogue or conversation between God and us (just as in any of our relationships we need to be talking and listening to each

other.) We can pray anywhere, anytime and in many ways of prayer. Types: Petition - asking for ourselves. Intercession - for others.

Blessing - acknowledging all good comes from God. Praise - acknowledging only one true God. Thanksgiving - giving thanks to God (the Eucharist is the

Church’s greatest prayer of thanksgiving.

The Sign of the Cross Each of us is signed with the Sign of the Cross at our Baptism. The Sign of the Cross marks us as followers of Jesus. Every time we sign ourselves with the Sign of the Cross, we remember our Baptism. In Baptism we are called to be

disciples who follow God’s word.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Glory Be To The Father Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the

beginning, is now, and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer) [Mt 6:9-13] Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy

will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread: and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us

from evil. Amen.

Hail, Mary (Ave Maria) [Lk 1:28, 41-43; cf. 2:5, 35] Hail, Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee! Blessed art thou amongst

women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners,

now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Act of Contrition My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong

and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more,

and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name my God have mercy

Grace Before Meals

Bless us, O Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

What is the Trinity? - Three Persons in one God!

The Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

* God the Father is the Creator of all things.

* Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Savior. God the Holy Spirit is God’s gift of love to the Church.

The Great Commandment

“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind…

You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37, 39

The Ten Commandments [Ex 20:1-17]

1. I am the Lord your God: you shall not have strange gods before me. 2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. 3. Remember to keep holy the Lord’s day. 4. Honor your father and your mother. 5. You shall not kill. 6. You shall not commit adultery. 7. You shall not steal. 8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. 9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. 10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.

How to Make a Good Confession 1. Examine your conscience and ask the Holy Spirit to help you know your

sins and to the Blessed Virgin Mary to help you be sorry for your sins. 2. Greet the priest and say, “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been

(state the length of time) since my last Confession.” 3. Confess your sins to the priest (who is there in place of Jesus), stating

them simply and sincerely. When finished, say, “I am sorry for these sins and all my sins.”

4. The priest will talk to you and give you a penance to pray after and will ask you to pray the Act of Contrition to show you’re sorry for your sins.

5. The priest says, “Go in peace.” You answer, “Thank you, Father.” 6. You go back to your pew, kneel and pray your penance.

¿Qué es la Santísima Trinidad? -Tres Personas en un mismo Dios!

Los Diez Mandamientos [Éxodo 20:1-3, 17

1. Amaras a Dios sobre todas las cosas. 2. No tomaras el nombre de Dios en vano. 3. Santificaras el día del Señor. 4. Honrarás a tu padre y a tu madre. 5. No mataras. 6. Cómo hacer una buena confesión 1. Examine su conciencia y pídale al Espíritu Santo que le ayude a reconocer sus pecados a la Santísima Virgen María para que le ayude a arrepentirse de sus pecados. 2. Salude al sacerdote e indique cuando fue su ultima confesión. 3. Confiese sus pecados al sacerdote (que está allí en lugar de Jesús),

con sencillez y sinceridad. Al terminar, diga: "Lo siento por estos pecados y todos mis demás pecados." 4. The Holy Mass consists of two main parts:

The Liturgy of the Word –when we listen to the readings from the Bible, God is present with us. Includes: the readings from the Bible other than the 4 Gos-pels, Responsorial Psalm, the Gospel, the Homily, the Nicene Creed and the Prayers of the Faithful.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist – We do what Jesus did at the Last Supper. We join with Jesus in offering Himself to God and are made sharers in Jesus’ Life, Death and Resurrection. During the Consecration, the bread and wine become the real Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus so that is what we actually receive at Communion even though it looks and tastes like bread and wine. Includes: the preparation of the gifts, the Eucharistic Prayer and Conse-cration, the Communion Rite and the Concluding Rite.

What is a Sacrament? A sacrament is an outward sign instituted by Christ to give Grace. (It is something we can see, that has invisible power from God, which helps us on our journey to heaven.)

The Story of Jesus One night about 2,000 years ago, Jesus was born to a virgin woman whose name was Mary. Angels told shepherds that Jesus would be

found in a manger in Bethlehem of Israel. A bright star also guided three Kings to come and adore Jesus.

Jesus is the Son of God and the son of Mary. Jesus became a carpenter and a fisher of souls.

He taught of the great love of God for all people and did many miracles.

He had twelve apostles who spread the Gospel. But on the black day of hatred, envy and death,

Jesus was crucified on a cross. He shed His blood for us to forgive our sins and save us from Hell.

Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. Jesus lives forever with the Father and the Holy Spirit as one God. He invites us to lives as disciples in His Catholic Christian Church.

He gives us grace to be holy here on earth and to live eternally with him in Heaven.

Historia de Jesús

Una noche, hace alrededor de dos mil años, Jesús nació de una virgen cuyo nombre era María. Los ángeles les dijeron a los pastores que pedían

encontrar a Jesús en un pesebre en Belén de Israel. Una estrella brillante también guió a tres reyes para que vinieran a adorar a Jesús.

Jesús es el Hijo de Dios e hijo de María. Jesús se hizo carpintero y pescador de almas.
