Oracle Licensing and Terminology - FAQ
Oracle's commercial licensing model now applies to "Application Users". In the past, licenses were “named” or “concurrent” users. Now each license pertains to the number of users. A CSI Number (customer support identifier) is assigned to each individual purchase of license(s). Since these licenses are essentially user rights, you are only permitted to have a number of users equal to what has been purchased. Perpetual licenses do not expire, but without Oracle Support you cannot upgrade to later versions of the software. Oracle also has every right to expire your licenses OR request a migration and charge backdated support fees. This is recommended for long-term use.
Oracle Support should be purchased with Perpetual licenses, as you can upgrade your license yearly at no extra cost.
Yearly licenses have the same usage rights as perpetual licenses, but have an expiry at the end of their term. This is recommended for short-term and lower budgets.
Oracle Support can be omitted altogether since the term of the license is not continuous.
It is more cost effective to purchase a new license every year rather than have the option to upgrade the license through Oracle Support.
The cost of Oracle Support is greater than the cost of a yearly license. Oracle Support is an optional add-on for the user to have access to My Oracle Support for their forums, knowledge base, and service requests. As well, they have access to patches, fixes, upgrades, and technical documentation. Primavera P6 PPM license includes only the Primavera P6 Professional Windows client with full built-in Administrative Menu items. Primavera P6 EPPM License includes both Primavera P6 Professional and Primavera P6 Web Access client. Note that all Administrative Menu items are removed in the P6 Professional client, all P6 Administration including Adding Users is managed in P6 Web Access only.
EPPM installs are more complex as both programs must be installed and configured to the database.

Create an Oracle Account
Step 1: Log into Oracle
1. Go to https://shop.oracle.com/ in any web browser. 2. If you have an existing account, click the “Sign In” button in the top left of the screen. 3. If you are new to the Oracle Store, click on the grey “New user?” button in the top left of the
screen.
4. Fill in the fields to create your Oracle account.

5. Check your email. Oracle should send you an email to verify your email address. Click the Verify
Email and Sign In.
Step 2: Open the Oracle Primavera P6 Products Page
1. Go to https://shop.oracle.com/ in any web browser. Sign in. 2. Click on Browse Products to open the menu. 3. Place your mouse over SoftwareApplications. Click on Primavera. The Oracle Primavera
products page will open.
Step 3: Add Primavera P6 Products to the Cart
In the Oracle Primavera products page, you can find all Oracle products you would like to purchase. Scroll down to the product listing.

Purchasing Primavera P6 PPM (Professional Project Portfolio
Management) - Yearly or Perpetual Licenses
The Oracle Shop will allow you to purchase yearly and perpetual PPM licenses.
1. In the Primavera P6 PPM Page, select the Term and Quantity of licenses to purchase. 2. Click “Add to Cart”.
3. Click on the Cart icon on the top of the screenView Cart. 4. If you are purchasing 1 year licenses, it is recommended not to purchase Oracle Support.
a. To remove Oracle Support, click on the “Remove Support” button. b. If you want to purchase Oracle Support, click the “Checkout” button when you are ready
to purchase the software.
5. A pop-up will appear. Click “Remove Support”. 6. Review your order. Review the note that “ALL SALES ARE FINAL AND CANNOT BE RETURNED”.
Click “Checkout”.

7. Continue the purchase through Oracle Shop with your credit card and account information.
A CSI (Customer Support Identifier) key will be provided when the purchase is processed by Oracle.
Please keep the CSI key as a record that you are the rightful owner of the license(s).
If you have a yearly license that has expired, the CSI key will become invalid. The new CSI key will
replace the old CSI key to indicate you as the software End User. Continue to purchase a yearly license
when you are using Primavera P6 products to maintain compliance with Oracle’s Terms and Conditions.

Purchasing Primavera P6 EPPM (Enterprise Professional Project
Portfolio Management) - Perpetual Licenses
The Oracle Shop only allows customers to purchase perpetual licenses of Primavera P6 EPPM. If you are
interested in purchasing yearly licenses, contact an Oracle Primavera P6 reselling partner.
1. In the Primavera P6 EPPM Page, select the Term and Quantity of licenses to purchase. 2. Click “Add to Cart”.
3. Click on the Cart icon on the top of the screenView Cart.
4. Review your Shopping Cart for the product name and quantity. Since you are required to
purchase a perpetual license, you will want to include Oracle Support with the license purchase.

Download & E-Delivery
Your order is available for download from Oracle’s E-Delivery site. Please refer to the download instructions as follows: Click the link below to the Oracle/Primavera E-delivery Portal: http://edelivery.oracle.com/ Fill in the required fields with your information.
1. Accept the License Terms and the Export Restriction Terms (2 checkboxes) 2. Click Continue at the bottom of the page 3. On the next screen, select your product pack and platform (usually Microsoft Windows 32-bit),
then click GO. 4. View the Read Me file and download all files listed. Read and pay particular attention to the
Quick Install Guide (usually first on the download list) which contains important information required to install the software.
If you have any questions, view the Frequently Asked Questions by clicking the link located at the left margin of the first page or at the top of the sign-in page. When corresponding/calling Oracle Customer Service, always use your CSI (Customer Support Identifier) key issued by Oracle. You can reach Oracle Customer Service at 1-800-223-1711 Please visit the Oracle Support Web Center at http://www.oracle.com/support/ to obtain more information on the support services available from Oracle and to access My Oracle Support, the web-based support service for lower priority technical issues.
