We are the Body of Christ! Attending the Catholic Evangelization Studies class with fellow parishioners was a wonderful experience. It moved me to opening myself to a closer relationship with Jesus. These three days were a blessing, a time to step away from my regular routine and reflect on the importance of my spiritual life. Through our study, discussion and prayer I was touched by the enthusiasm of others who also wanted to deepen their discipleship in Christ. Further, it became clearer to me how a line of people in my life have lead me to music ministry. The Holy Spirit was among us! I look forward to attending the next three sessions of this 4 year Evangelization course which is open to any baptized faithful. Mary Pionkowski

In the autumn, I like to pick mushrooms. They are sneaky little things, you don't see them until you're in the middle of them. Then suddenly, they're everywhere. Discov-ering Jesus is kind of sneaky too! I've belonged to Him since my baptism and learned Jesus is everywhere. This week, I discovered that he loves me solely because he creat-ed me. When I sin and ask forgiveness, He forgives me by his death on the cross. He wants ME to walk with HIM and has poured the Holy Spirit into my life. Suddenly, I see Him everywhere. We all are called to experience this love. Gayle Phillips

Before Mass begins each week, Holy Spirit Parish pro-claims, “We are disciples who are called to worship and are sent to serve”. I have enthusiastically said those words many times without really considering their weight. Simply put, a disciple is one who loves Jesus, follows Jesus, and shares Jesus with others. But, in order to truly be a disciple, we first need to know Jesus. We need to recognize where we have encountered Jesus in our lives. We need to understand our own relationship with Jesus. Not until we know our own story can we begin effectively to share Jesus with others. Please pray for me and the other CES students in the coming months as we continue on our journey toward discipleship. Jacki Szalkucki

This retreat was a wonderful experience as we focused on coming to know and love Jesus better as His body in the world. I was asked, "Do you know Jesus? Do you love Jesus?” Of course I know and love Jesus! I am at Mass every Sunday; I teach faith formation; I try my best to follow God's commandments. Again, I was asked, “Do you know Jesus?” I do feel I know Jesus, but in this retreat I met Jesus in a whole different way. If we are open, we are always meeting Jesus in the people God places before us, along with meeting Him at Mass and in our prayer time. I love our Catho-lic faith and all that goes with it. During this retreat my love for the Body of Christ – His people inside or outside the church - grew. My hope is the Holy Spirit will help me recognize Jesus in the faces of all, wherever we meet. Renee Brzezinski

God continues to write his story through the living body of Christ. He is writing that story in each one of us; we are that body. If we do not share our story and listen to the stories of others, we will miss out on encountering the living Christ in our world today. We may even miss realizing the ways God is working in our own lives if we do not wait upon and ponder our own story. What a shame that would be! And, so, I hope you will join me in praying for the courage to listen, live and let Christ flow out of us. Sara Weidmeyer

Our CES experience may be summarized in these words of Pope Francis: “Jesus Christ loves you, He gave his life to save you, and now he is living at your side every day to enlighten, strengthen and free you.” If we truly take time to reflect on the ways in which Jesus has befriended us, healed us and transformed our lives we will realize how God loves us. This love, these stories, are too good not to share! This grace, this mercy is too wonderful not to live. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we are the ones who bring God’s love to life in the world. And, we are Holy Spirit Parish. I believe we’ve been given a great commission. Julie Meadows

Construction Zone Weekly

Our plumbing contractor has completed roughing in the under floor PVC drains for restrooms and the new kitchen.

Electricians have been busy installing the below con-crete floor conduits that will contain main electrical feeder lines for the Ministry Center and also lines back-feeding electricity to the church from the new electrical service being installed for the addition.

The masons have completed laying the majority of concrete block required for exterior walls and the required firewall between the church and addition.

The big news is that the crew from Ellis is starting to install the necessary large and heavy steel beams, sup-port columns and steel bar joists that will comprise the roof system for the building, it won’t be too long now before we have a real roof!

Fun Fact: There are 10 large bags of premixed sand and mortar containing a color to match our existing church mortar on site. This will be used to lay the

brick veneer for the addition. Each bag weighs 3,000 pounds. It will take 30 bags to complete the brick veneer on the exterior of the building!
