OSHA Lengthens Comment Period on Managing Chemical Exposure

With safety certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Jeff Davis currently serves as a safety manager and instructor at Beacon Energy Services near Long Beach, California. Jeff Davis also leverages more than 20 years of experience in the petrochemical industry to implement safety protocols and train employees in Long Beach.

OSHA recently issued a press release to announce that it has extended a Request for Information (RFI) regarding Chemical Management and Permissible Exposure Limits. Originally initiated in October of 2014, the RFI comment period will now be open until October of 2015, following numerous requests from stakeholders who needed additional time to research related concerns and generate responses to the RFI questions. The RFI was published in the Federal Register in order to gather stakeholder input on more effective ways to manage workplace conditions that expose workers to chemicals.

By creating a national dialogue on risk management strategies, OSHA hopes to reduce the number of occupational illnesses triggered by hazardous chemical exposure in the modern workplace environment. OSHA also wants public feedback on possible alterations to current feasibility and risk assessment analysis methods.
