The Annual Gift Drive sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Society invites all who can to participate in the Our Lady of Grace Advent tradition of bringing hope, happiness, and joy to children waiting with us for the celebration of Christmas. Please place your donations of unwrapped gifts, wrapping paper, ribbon, and tape under the tree in the narthex. Monetary donations and gift certificates can be brought to the church office or placed in the SVDP poor box. Christmas Food Baskets Christmas food baskets for needy families with young children are being prepared, please take a St. Vincent de Paul brown bag after all Masses on December 1 & 2, please return it with the listed food items no later than December 8 & 9. This year we will be assisting at least 100 families, basket's will be distributed on December 15. Thank you for helping us, help others. From the Pastor’s Desk Beloved, here’s our Sixth Reflection on the Second Definition of Evangelization by Pope Paul VI in Evangelii Nuntiandi: “…. The purpose of evangelization is therefore precisely this interior change, and… in one sentence…. the Church evangelizes when she seeks to convert, solely through the divine power of the message she proclaims, both the personal and collective consciences of people, the activities in which they engage, and the lives and concrete milieu which are theirs” (Paragraph, 18). “The purpose of evangelization is precisely this interior change.” The "Interior" focuses on the heart, the inner core of

the human person. We all know the different between a "House" and a "Home." Anyone might be able acquire a house but not all could make it a home: a home of love, oneness, peace, kindness, happiness and dedication to God. Interior change is therefore about becoming a God-oriented or Christ-oriented person, with faith-centered vision or worldview. Of course, there are many psychological, sociological and philosophical schemas or programs out there that might be useful; but they can never bring about interior change. Only God in Christ and in union with the Holy Spirit can effect this interior change. Hence, we rely exclusively on the divine power of the Word of God (cf. 1Cor 1:17) to transform personal and collective consciences of people, to change the way we think, the way we see things or rationalize them ordinarily, to change our lifestyles, the wrong activities we engage in – cultural, social, political, ideological, etc. God declares, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD” (Isa 55:8). Hence, Scripture says, “There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death” (Prov 14:12). We want a home, a home with God. That's the inestimable treasure we seek. BIBLE VERSE OF THE WEEK: “A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take out of your flesh the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh” (Ezek 36:26; cf. 11:19). OUR CATHOLIC APPEAL: As we approach the end of the Year, kindly and prayerfully strive to redeem our pledges. May God bless you abundantly! Our Senior High Advent Bible Study will be held on Wednesday nights immediately following Middle School Youth Group (8PM) and will run through 9:30 PM on the following nights: December 5, 12, & 19. We will be holding an Advent Prayer Night and Lock-In on Friday, December 7, beginning at 8 PM. The night will be filled with different opportunities to be prayerful and focus on “preparing” for the birth of Jesus!! Registration forms for the Lock-In are due NO LATER than Sunday December 2. Our Annual Breakfast with Santa will be held on Sunday, December 9. L ots of volunteers are needed to run crafts, games and visits with Santa. Please contact Ms. Maria for further details.

Oh, You Better Watch Out! Santa Claus is Coming to

OLOG! Our Lady of Grace Youth Group is hosting a “Breakfast with Santa Event!” on Sunday, December 9, from 9AM to 12 PM. Festivities will

include breakfast, craft making, games and of course a visit with the big guy!

Ticket costs are: $5.00/person or a family ticket of $25.00 for families of more than 5.

All Children are invited to come and visit Santa and take photos that day for free, however, they must have a paid admission in order to eat breakfast and participate in activities. Presale tickets are on sale this weekend.

El Grupo de Jóvenes de Nuestra Señora de Gracia está organizando un "Evento de Desayuno con Papá Noel" el domingo 9 de diciembre de 9 a.m. a 12 p.m. Las festividades incluirán desayuno, ar-tesanía, juegos y, por supuesto, ¡una visita con el chico grande! Los costos de los boletos son: $ 5.00 / persona o un boleto familiar de $ 25.00 para familias de más de 5. Todos los niños están invitados a venir a visitar a Santa y tomar fotos ese día de forma gratuita; sin embargo, deben tener una admisión pagada para poder desayunar y participar en actividades.

Saint Nicholas of Myra—December 6 was an early Christian bishop of the city of Myra ) dur-ing the time of the Roman Empire. He is revered by many Christians as a saint. because of the many mira-cles attributed to his intercession, he is also known as Nicholas the Wonderworker. Saint Nicholas is the pa-tron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, repentant thieves, children, brewers, pawnbrokers, and students in various cities and countries around Europe. His reputation evolved among the faithful, as was common for early Christian saints, and his legendary habit of secret gift-giving gave rise to the traditional model of Santa Claus.

THE PROMISE OF JUSTICE We are in fairly good company when we ask God for justice. Often enough we hear and agree with the lament of the people of Israel asking God why the wicked prosper. However, when we call out for jus-tice, we usually want someone to get his or her comeup-pance. God’s justice is something other than this, of course. God’s justice comprises a wonderful rightness between God and humankind. Today, Jeremiah looks ahead to a time when a just one will sprout from the shorn-off stump of Jesse of the house and family of David. Life was not fair in Jeremi-ah’s time. Israel’s kings held the promise of God’s fidel-ity, but it was difficult to see how God’s promise could be realized through them. Nevertheless, Jeremiah lifts his voice and announces that the Promised One will come. Luke’s Gospel echoes that announcement, and Paul is filled with sturdy encour-agement. LA PROMESA DE JUSTICIA Estamos en buena compañía cuando clamamos a Dios por justicia. Con frecuencia escuchamos y estamos de acuerdo con el pueblo de Israel que pregunta a Dios por qué el malo prospera. Sin embargo, cuando clamamos por justicia usualmente queremos que alguien reciba el casti-go que se merece. Obviamente la justicia de Dios es más que eso. La justicia de Dios abarca una maravillosa recti-tud entre Dios y la humanidad. En la lectura de hoy Jeremías avizora un tiempo en el que un justo brotará del tronco de Jesé, de la casa y la familia de David. La vida no era justa en el tiempo de Je-remías. Los reyes de Israel mantenían viva la promesa de la fidelidad de Dios, pero era difícil ver cómo la promesa de Dios se podía cumplir por medio de ellos. No obstante, Jeremías levanta la voz y anuncia que ya viene el Salvador prometido. El Evangelio de Lucas hace eco de ese anuncio, y Pablo se llena de un gran ánimo.
