MISSION STATEMENT
We, the parish family of Our Lady of Hope, commit ourselves to continue the mission of Jesus Christ, to proclaim His Gospel, and to love one
another as He loves us. We are a welcoming community of faith, guided by the Holy Spirit and centered on God’s Word and the Eucharist.
Through the Sacraments, prayer, and the stewardship of our God-given gifts, we provide opportunities to grow closer to God and to serve
members of the community.

Our Lady of Hope This Week
TODAY, AS WE HEAR ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, WE ARE REMINDED TO BE STEADFAST IN OUR CHRISTIAN FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE
Jesus uses a parable to teach us about the reality of heaven. He warns us not to become drowsy in our faith, like the virgins who in their foolish lack of preparation bring no oil with them. Instead, Je-sus teaches that we are to live in such a way that we are ready to meet the Lord.
2017 FAITH Catholic-Publishing and Communications
LITURGY OF THE WORD
The first reading reminds us that wisdom is found by those who desire and seek her. The second reading exhorts us to live buoyed by the hope of eternal life in heaven. In the Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the ten virgins, which reminds us of the importance of staying awake for we do not know the day or hour Jesus will return.

STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT FOR THE THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Like the sensible bridesmaids in today’s parable, good stewards make sure that they, and whatever gifts are theirs to share, stand ready to serve when the Master calls.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Veterans Day is an official United States public holiday observed annually on November 11 and honors persons who served in the US Armed Forc-es. It coincides with other holidays, including Ar-mistice Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. Major hostilities of World War I were formally end-ed at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. The United States previously ob-served Armistice Day and in 1954, renamed it Vet-erans Day. Let us remember, with prayers and gratitude, the service of our veterans!
Last Sunday, November 5 at the Wheatley Hills Golf and Country Club, a wonderful brunch was shared in celebration of our 30th Anniversary as a parish. Thanks to all who attended! It was a great afternoon. Particular thanks to our Steering Com-mittee members who worked so diligently: Frances Barbuto, Larry Boone, Bill Horan, Edmund Kelly, Tony Pereira and Henry So! Thanks also to Natalie Boone for her tremendous work on the commemo-rative journal.
ALTAR BREAD, ROSE FOR LIFE & SANCTUARY CANDLE
If you wish to donate the bread and wine for the week’s Sunday and daily Eucharist celebrations, the offering is $50. Opportunities to donate a Rose for Life are also available. The offering is $5 per week. The sanctuary candle is available for memo-rialization. The offering is $15.

VIRTUS TRAINING-PROTECT OUR CHILDREN!
Virtus is a program that gives us a spe-cific plan in identifying and preventing child sexual abuse. The training is required of all di-ocesan personnel and volunteers in all parishes.
If you are a volunteer and still need to fulfill this obli-gation check the Long Island Catholic or the Diocesan website, www.drvc.org for training sessions available in the area. Please register for the class online or stop in the Church office.
The Office for the Protection of Children and Young People maintains a confidential phone line: 516 594-9063. We are available to help you or anyone who has been abused or victimized by someone representing the Catholic Church. All calls are responded to within 24 hours.
COLLECTION FOR CCHD AND HOME MISSIONS
Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development which includes Home Mission (CCHD). CCHD was founded 40 years age by the bishops of the United States when they realized that the lives of those in need would not improve until the systems and policies that keep people in poverty were changed. For 40 years, CCHD has funded community groups that seek jus-tice and create lasting change. Fight Poverty in America. Defend human dignity. Give to the CCHD Collection.
