praise. Sat. The Lord is kind and merciful.

All liturgical celebration, indeed all Christian prayer, is Trinitarian: to the Father, through the Son, in the Holy Spirit. The liturgical celebration of the Holy Trinity as an “idea feast” finds its origins in the Carolingian Church of the

8th and 9th centuries. A votive Mass of the Holy Trinity proved so popular that it began to replace Sunday celebrations. In 920 the bishop of Liege composed a full Mass and Office to be celebrated on the 1st Sunday after Pentecost. The feast was established for the entire Roman church in 1334.The smallest functional unity of human life is not the individual. Every man and woman, no matter how deformed in spirit or body, exists because he or she was born of the coming together of two human beings. No infant survives without acts of touching and feeding which are acts of human relationship. If we exist at all, we exist as the product of some form of human community. We profess that we have been created in God’s image. Our self-image is so clearly and relentlessly one of life in community that we cannot help but see in the scriptures suggestions and revelations of God’s own life as life for and with the other. Though we will never come to know God as God knows himself, every sign of God’s action in our world leads us to him as a God in interaction. Creation itself is God’s self-expression, the extension of his love to that which is other than himself. God’s ongoing dialogue with creation reaches its climax in Jesus who is God-among-us. This Jesus is taken up into the fullness of the Father’s glory and the fullness of their love is poured forth upon us in the gift of the Spirit. Though we falter before the complexity of centuries of theology seeking to understand the unfathomable depths of God, we resolutely form the shape of our faith by praying day after day to the Father, through the Son and in the Holy Spirit. As we mark our bodies with the cross we utter the name of Father, Son and Spirit. So we enter into life with God through baptism. We shall enter into the fullness of that divine community through the gate of death.

N.B. Next Sunday is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi: (Body & Blood of Christ). We have an Eucharistic Procession, Vespers & Benediction, beginning at 2:00pm. You are invited to participate in this beautiful devotion. Do come and pray with us; to the Lord and giver of life eternal.

The blue form for regular Sunday contribution is taken on the 1st of each month and the pink form for the Building Fund is taken on the 15th of each month. NB: The Building Fund contributions are not taxed by the Diocese, whereas the regular Sunday contributions are taxed at 14%.

Prep News: Photos for 1st Communion have arrived. They may be picked up at the Parish office during business hours: Tues-Fri from 9am to 12noon and 1pm-4pm. (Please note the office is closed from 12-1pm.)

Please note that Prep Registration for 2017/18 began Wed., May 03 @ 4pm in the school. If you have a child entering Kindergarten in Sept 2017, he/she will enter Prep for free. New Prep students must register with payment, Baptismal and Holy Communion Certificates, if applicable.

LINE DANCING: Has resumed @ Assumption School Gym on Saturdays @ 10:30 am to 11:45 am. Fee for the new session is $25 for 10 classes or drop-in fee of $4/class. All proceeds after expenses will be donated to Assumption Parish.

““For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son….” JOHN 3:16 Is your love conditional? Is there a price others have to pay to receive your love? Are you generous with your time, money and possessions? If you give someone something, do you expect something in return? Do you give your time freely or do you “fit it in” when it’s convenient for you? Pray for a grateful and generous heart.

MAINTAINING A PRAYERFUL ENVIRONMENT

The procession to and from the communion rail is a liturgical act, done slowly and reverently. Please make way for those who have already received, as they are “living tabernacles” of the Lord’s presence, to be deferred to in courtesy and faith. Also, we ask that once you have received the Eucharist, you not linger at the rail, but allow others also to approach the rail after you. Thank you.

the peace and love of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, let us pray to the Lord.

another with the love which reflects the Trinity, let us pray to the Lord.

5. That our young people thoughtfully consider a vocation to the
