MessagefromtheCourtChaplain

Dear Ladies,      It was a great experience to be a witness to the State Convention ofCatholic Daughters of America. I was inspired with the large number ofLadies in attendance and the humbleness of those who serve in leader-ship for this organization. The Chaplains luncheon was wonderful. Itwas a great chance for me to meet some of the other Chaplains fromaround the state. I thank all of you for allowing me to be a small part inCourt here at Holy Trinity.

As we continue on our Easter journey towards the feast of Pentecost.  We arereminded of Jesus's suffering, death and resurrection. What does this paschalMystery mean for our every day lives? This is the Mystery of God's great love foreach of us. Each Easter season the Church invites each of us to dwell in thisLove. Jesus did not leave us alone. He sent the Holy Spirit to dwellwithin us. God is Love and He wants us to use His Love through theHoly Spirit to truly love one another.

God Bless you,Deacon David

Reflection CornerSource: Fr. Ed Lamp—modified

Very often, the Lord gives us help even when we don't ask for it. We see this in whathe did for Peter, James & John in Luke 5:1-11, when he provided a great catch of fish forthem.  What's his motive? Was he rewarding these fishermen for lending him one of theirboats? No.

Do you think he does good things for you as a reward? Well, it’s not a reward. There's a biggerpicture. Whenever God intervenes in our lives, he does it to benefit us and others. We belong to acommunity, God's family; we are not in relationship with God as isolated individuals. By connectingourselves to God in prayer, in the Eucharist, in worship and nature, we are connecting ourselves toeveryone else and to his concerns for them.  Our prayers for help are never answered only for our sake.God always sees a bigger picture. And he always cares about everyone who's affected.

If it seems like God isn't responding to your pleas, it's because he's working on a bigger plan.  He'scoordinating how the answer to your prayers will help others – many others.  God cares very much aboutyour personal needs and desires, but he cares about everyone else, too, whether they ask for his helpor not. And he is turning your needs into a calling, a ministry designed specifically for you. This meansthat the moment you begin praying for help, you are called by God to share his help with others.  Bythinking beyond ourselves while waiting for our troubles to end, we find peace and hope and value in thehardships we endure. This is the vocation of daily life, living in the present moment.

GardeningTips

By Grace Lambert,Vice Regent

Have you heard how bad chemical weed killer is forour environment? What about all those thrivingweeds that grow in your sidewalks and driveways? Ihave plenty of weeds in my gravel walkway. What is agood Catholic Daughter to do to safely get rid ofweeds without hurting our earth. The safest way Ihave found to get rid of those pesky weeds is usingfull strength white vinegar.

The best way to apply vinegar for weed control is putit in a spray bottle or pump sprayer. These tools aremost effective if you want to eliminate large areas ofweeds on walkways, driveways or other areas wherethere are no other plants at risk. Treatment should bedone on a sunny day when there is no wind to preventit from blowing onto other plants. Sunlight activatesthe vinegar so be sure to treat on a sunny day. Ifyou're trying to be very selective and kill small batchesof weeds in among other plants and flowers, applyvinegar with an old brush only to the weeds. You willsee the results in two days and doing our part to keepour earth safe.

Until next month…happy gardening!
