As you know, Oak Terrace is a Title I school, which means that we receive state funds to help support our struggling students. As a recipient of those funds, we need to complete a school-wide Title I Plan for addressing the academic and social-emotional needs of our students. Before we begin our planning, we’d love to hear from you!   Please take a moment to complete this brief survey to help us determine which areas we can work on for next year. Como receptores de estos fondos, debemos completar un Plan de Título I para toda la escuela y abordar las necesidades académicas y socioemocionales de nuestros estudiantes. Pero antes de comenzar nuestra planificación, ¡nos encantaría saber mas de usted!

We are so proud of our four winners of Highland Park’s Character Counts Award. From our sta�, Mary Jordan and Jack Pohn were both honored. Our two fifth grade recipients were Molly Miller and Luis Ramirez. These four individuals exhibit the six pillars of character ( Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship) everyday, and we feel so lucky to have them as role models here at Oak Terrace! Congratulations to all! 

 

Estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros cuatro ganadores del premio el Carácter Cuenta “Character Counts” de Highland Park. De nuestro personal, Mary Jordan y Jack Pohn fueron honrados. Nuestros dos recipientes de quinto grado fueron Molly Miller y Luis Ramirez. Estos cuatro individuos exhiben los seis pilares del carácter ( Confiabilidad, Respeto, Responsabilidad, Equidad, Cuidado y Ciudadanía ) todos los días, ¡y nos sentimos muy afortunados de tenerlos como modelos aquí en Oak Terrace!

PBIS All School Celebration - Freeze Dance 

Our students diligently followed our Super 3 rules (Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be Ready to Learn) over the past month, and earned lots of Super 3s. They filled our all-school Super 3 bucket and therefore the students earned an all-school celebration which took place on Friday, April 27th. Fifteen minutes before the end of the school day we played songs over the loudspeaker and everyone danced, froze and danced again! Our P.E. Teacher, Mr. Hennigan did an amazing job as DJ and had everyone grooving to the music. Everyone had a blast...and it was a great way to end our week. Our bucket is empty again, and so the students are now working on earning our next celebration which will be an extra all-school recess.   

Celebración Escolar de PBIS - Baile Divertido 

Nuestros estudiantes siguieron diligentemente nuestras reglas de Super 3 (Ser cuidadosos, Ser respetuosos y Listos para aprender) este último mes y ganaron muchos Super 3, llenaron el envase de Super 3 de toda la escuela y por lo tanto, los estudiantes ganaron una celebración para toda la escuela que tuvo lugar el viernes 27 de abril. Quince minutos antes del final de la jornada escolar tocamos canciones por el altoparlante y todos bailaron y se divirtieron un montón. Nuestro maestro de educación física, el Sr. Hennigan hizo un trabajo increíble como DJ. Todos la pasamos de maravilla ... y fue una excelente manera de terminar nuestra semana. Nuestro envase está vacío otra vez, por lo que los estudiantes ahora están trabajando bastante para ganar la siguiente celebración, que será un recreo extra para toda la escuela. 

 

 

 

MAP Testing / Pruebas de MAP 

We will be MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing May 9th through Math 16th for our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students in both reading and math. MAP assessments are used to measure a student’s growth in Mathematics and Reading. The Fall assessment gathers baseline. The Winter assessment measures progress. The Spring assessment measures the students’ growth from the beginning of the school year to the end of the year. Your classroom teacher will send you more specific information on the exact dates and times of your child’s tests. Please make sure your child is well rested and eats a good breakfast on the days of testing. Thank you!   

Los estudiantes tomarán los exámenes MAP (Medidas de Progreso Académico) empezando el día 9 hasta el 16 de mayo. Todos los estudiantes de 3ro, 4to y 5to grado tomarán estos exámenes. Las evaluaciones MAP se usan para medir el desarrollo académico de cada estudiante en Matemáticas y Lectura. La evaluación de otoño reúne la línea de base. La evaluación de invierno mide el progreso. La evaluación de Primavera mide el desarrollo de cada estudiante desde el comienzo del año escolar hasta el final del año. El maestro/a le enviará información más específica sobre las fechas y horas exactas de los exámenes de su hijo/a.
