The poet Fialho de Almeida

Fialho de Almeida, Portuguese writer and poet, (1857-1911) was born in Vila de Frades, a small village next to Vidigueira and lived in Cuba.

He said: “God made man in His image and likeness, and made the critic like the cat…caustic style, sharp claw. Scathing but with good humour.”

Rota do Fresco (Route of the Fresco)

It is a visit to several churches of the region, which have painted inside them very important murals painted in fresh, one feature of the religious heritage of the southern of Portugal.

The fresco is a technique that began to be used in Italy from the Renaissance, where the paintings are made on a mortar of lime and sand still wet.

Our Institution

Centro de Estudos e Formação Aquiles Estaço, Lda (Portugal) is a Private enterprise in the area of teaching which owns the Fialho de Almeida Vocational School.

The school promotes international projects since 2003: Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius 1, - Comenius Assistent and Sócrates / Comenius 1, Grundtvig and it is also responsible for local projects.

The Organisation

EPFA - VIDIGUEIRA

This Centre was created in the 1st of Septembre 1999 and it is the owner of the Vocational School - Escola Profissional Fialho de Almeida (EPFA).

It provides professional or vocational courses (10 courses), that gives students the secondary and professional qualifications. The School was the result of a contract between the Portuguese Ministry of Education and the City Hall of the villages of Cuba and Vidigueira (in July, 1991). At present, the Centre and the School is now runned by a Private Foundation whose members have a close relation to the City Hall.
