There have been many well deserved expressions of appreciation to Mike Harrowell on his magnificient effors in planning, co-ordinating and putting in place arrangements for the 2017 Fun Run on 30 July. Congratulations Mike from all members, partners, and Friends on what was an excellent day, and a fantastic effort by you.

PP Norm Gibson’s comments were only one of a host of expressions of congratulations for the day, but included in his feedback was a comment from a young female police officer, Eve, stationed with him at the intersection of Holly Street and Kendall Road, “how unusual to see nice people for a change” AND that is what the day is all about - a Family Fun Run day of families, serious runners and folk enjoying the morning.

Many thanks to all the members, partners, former members and Friends, such as John Hartley (Party Time Hire), the eloquent Ian Garrard MC-ing, the BBQers, fruit and water servers, registrationers, secret service security team, traffic controllers, course marshalls, Jade Catherall (photographer) and the oval marshalls, who all so ably assisted on the day to make it the success it was.

BACK PAGEA burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables, and when he picked up a CD player to place in his sack, a strange, disembodied voice echoed from the dark saying, “Jesus is watching you.”

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight out, and froze. When he heard nothing more after a bit, he shook his head, promised himself a vacation after the next big score, then clicked the light back on and began searching for more valuables. Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard, “Jesus is watching you.”

Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. “Did you say that?” He hissed at the parrot.

“Yep,” the parrot confessed, then squawked, “I’m just trying to warn you.”The burglar relaxed. “Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?”“Moses,” replied the bird.

“Moses?” the burglar laughed. “What kind of stupid people would namea parrot Moses?”The bird promptly answered, “Probably the same kind of people thatwould name a Rotweiller “Jesus”!

* * * * * * * *Flight Control Centre asks the pilot: ”Who is landing here?”The pilot decides to make a joke: -“Guess who”, - he asksFlight Control Centre turns off the lighting of the landing track and replies:“Guess where.”

* * * * * * * *A man walks into a New York City bank and says he wants to borrow $2,000 for three weeks. The loan officer asks him what kind of collateral he has. The man says “I’ve got a Rolls Royce -- keep it until the loan is paid off -- here are the keys.” The loan officer promptly has the car driven into the bank’s underground parking for safe keeping, and gives the man $2,000.

Three weeks later the man comes into the bank, pays back the $2,000 loan, plus $10 interest, and regains possession of the Rolls Royce. The loan officer asks him, “Sir, if I may ask, why would a man who drives a Rolls Royce need to borrow two thousand dollars?”

The man answers, “I had to go to Europe for three weeks, and where else could I store a Rolls Royce for that long for ten dollars?”
