BACKGROUND

Copper is probably one of the oldest bactericides and algaecides known to man for the control of bacteria,

algae and fungi in drinking water.

Water, a not always unlimited resource, is the essential fluid for all living beings. Access to water has become a global issue of public interest that goes beyond the social, economic and geographical inequalities

Already in ancient Egypt the water is left in copper vessels to purify it and its use has been well documented since 1850. It is located as a natural element on earth and, despite being highly reactive and toxic to many bacteria and algae, is beneficial to the plant and animal life.
