ting up, cooking, and
running a smooth event
that was a great intro-
duction to the SCA for
many new members and
their families - the most
at a single event that
we've seen in a while!
As we begin the 2016-17
event season, let us seek
out and thank those who
volunteer to work as
event staff. A moment of
your praise, an offer to
help, or even to learn
what they're doing to one
day try it out for yourself
can inspire them to grow
as a teacher, a mentor,
and a volunteer them-
selves.
After the passing of Hur-
ricane Matthew, enjoy
the coming autumn
days, catch up on your
yard work, and gird
yourselves for Panhandle
Unto the Populace of the
great Barony of Oldenfeld
and all who see these
words, do we offer warm
greetings in the name of
Their Royal Majesties;
Summer has come to an
end just in time for our
beautiful Harvest event
and the new event season
is begun, even as the
southern sea hurls a fi-
nal great storm in our
direction! It is the season
where our Meridian
neighbors begin to agitate
on the border and we hope
that everyone remains
ever vigilant and ready
to share our fun with our
friends across the border
:-)
We are grateful to the
Event Stewards for Har-
vest, Charles and Aure-
lia, for their work in se-
curing the new site, set-
Skirmishes!
Hail Oldenfeld!

Missive From Your Seneschal
Greetings unto the popu-
lace and friends of Olden-
feld!
As the fall event season
cranks into gear, we will
be a very busy Barony!
Our next local event will
be Harvest, which will be
a daytrip event held at
Tall Timbers (in north-
east Tallahassee) on Octo-
ber 1. The event will be a
Harvest Festival, with
games of strength, skill,
and strategy in which
all can take part. There
will be plenty of activi-
ties for adults and kids,
followed by a buffet-
style, Oktoberfest-themed
feast. I hope to see you
there!
We are also running
Martinmas Moot/Fall
Crown Lyst at Camp La
Llanada on the weekend
of November 11 – 13.
Though La Llanada is
quite a drive for us, the
camp itself is a wonder-
ful, compact site with
many great amenities. If
you are willing to assist
with the event in any
way, please let me know!
Duke Ardien will likely
need a hand at the reser-
vations desk, we still need
someone to lead the sani-
tation crew, and there
are always things that
come up at each event
that need to be handled.
Castlemere is running
gate for us, but I’m sure
they would appreciate
volunteers as well. If you
are interested in attend-
ing but can’t get to the
event yourself or just
don’t want to make the
trip alone, check with
others for carpool opportu-
nities. Feel free to post
carpool offers/requests on
the email lists and Olden-
feld Populace Facebook
page.
Panhandle Skirmishes is
also quickly approach-
ing. It will be at Compass
Lake, on the weekend of
November 3 – 5. Though
the Shire of Flintmarsh is
running the event this
year, they will likely
need and definitely ap-
preciate any assistance
we can provide. I’ve been
in touch with the event
stewards and will relay
information to Oldenfeld-
ers as I get it. Reserva-
tions are open, so I recom-
mend you check with
their reservationist about
cabin space sooner than
later, as it always sells
out in advance of the
event.
I am still seeking event
bids for local events next
year. If you are interested
in any aspect of event
management, please con-
tact me. Even if you
don’t have a theme or
Microsoft

staff, I may be able to assist
in coordinating a complete
bid. If you have “outside the
box” ideas for an event, I
welcome them as well! Even
though we are still mourn-
ing the loss of Camp Indian
Springs, this can be a great
opportunity for us to explore
new ideas.
Finally, and probably most
importantly, the ballots are
being mailed from the King-
dom Seneschal. Please make
sure to vote and mail your
ballots back! There is more
information in this edition
of Oldentales regarding the
voting process including
dates by which ballots need
to be received by the King-
dom.
And as always, thank you
all for your time, participa-
tion, and service!
Yours in service to the dream,
HL Aurelia Cassia

As we also move into a new
Baronial polling time, it is
also my hope that we contin-
ue to stay strong. I know this
can be a stressful time for
Oldenfeld, but we will get
through it.
Now on to this missive. This
newsletter represents Olden-
feld, and as such, I’d really
love to feature more infor-
mation about goings on
around the group. Please drop
me an email and give me some
ideas what you’d love to see in
the Oldenfeld newsletter.

As we move towards finding a
(or several) new event sites, it
is my hope that everyone
continue to pitch in to help
keep Oldenfeld events so suc-
cessful. Perhaps Camp Warri-
or, under the same manage-
ment as the previous Camp
Indian Springs proves to be
successful for us.
