    OVERVIEW

    On 21 July 2015, heavy monsoon rains resulted in

    extreme ash oods across various Provinces and

    regions in Pakistan. The downpour caused rivers

    to overow to the point where entire villages were

    submerged in water leaving thousands of people

    homeless.

    According to Pakistans National Disaster

    Management Authority, this disaster affected

    more than 800,000 people across 2,275 villages,

    damaging and/or destroying over 2,900 homes

    nationwide.

    Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Province in the

    city of Chitral, ood waters destroyed several

    bridges, homes, mosques, hotels and a power

    station;

    Gilgit-Baltistan Province - 175 villages and

    over 600 houses were entirely or partly damaged

    impacting about 136,000 people here;

    Punjab Province the southern region of

    Punjab province was badly hit by ood waters;

    families living in Bhakkar, Layyah and Rajanpur

    are pleading for help;

    Sindh Province More villages in Sindh were

    hit where families living in Larkhana, Mehar, Pano

    Aqil, Ghotki and Manjhand were devastated and

    are also asking for help.

    THE WORLD FEDERATIONS

    RESPONSEThe World Federation contributed $5,000 USD

    for emergency relief to the ood affected areas in

    Pakistan. Working in collaboration with our partner

    on the ground, 693 our bags (20 kg each) were

    delivered to ood victims across Sindh and Punjab

    who lost their homes and their belongings.

    Our agent in Pakistan reported: People in the

    ood hit areas have lost their standing crops,livestock and shelters. We have been distributing

    food rations to the displaced families, however,

    there are many more families living under the open

    sky waiting for emergency food relief, tents and

    medicine.

    All 693 our bags were distributed in 30 villages

    across 8 districts.
