PAL MAY 2017 NEWSLETTERMay is going to be a busy month - here is what's happening:

Come join us at our PAL Meeting on Tuesday, May 2 at 10 AMOur 4th Sketchcrawl will be Saturday, May 20.The deadline to enter the PAL Open Juried Show is midnight on Monday,May 15.We urgently need volunteers to be docents at the General GomezARTS and Events Center gallery during our PAL Open Juried Show. Tosignup please go to Signup Genius for PAL.We had a great number of artists enter the PAL Membership Show whichis on display at the PlacerArts Gallery. Make sure to check it out. It willbe on display until April 30. NOTE: Artwork pick up is Monday, May 1from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.The next art exhibit in the PlacerArts Gallery is an Agricultural Show andShana Laursen would like for any PAL Members who have agriculturalthemed art in the current show to leave it up or to bring in another"agricultural" art themed piece in on May 1st. Thursday, May 4 is the annual "Big Day of Giving", the Sacramentoregion's annual 24-hour online fundraising event for non-profitorganizations. Rudy Browne, renowned for his oilpaintings of jazz musicians and sportsfigures, will hold a critique for us. Pleasebring your artwork to show others and toget a friendly critique. Maybe you have apiece that just doesn't seem right - itdoesn't quite seem finished. This is thetime to share with others to get their input. We ask that you bring only one piece perartist since we only have an hour and wewant to make sure that everyone gets achance to participate.

Placer Artists League is sponsoring a sketchcrawl on May 20th in RocklinQuarry Park at 5460 Rocklin Road in Rocklin. The event is open to all artists,member and nonmember alike, so feel free to bring your friends. All ages andlevels of commitment to art are welcome. If your medium of choice is a camera, rather than a pencil or brush, you'rewelcome to join us!

What is a Sketchcrawl?A sketchcrawl is an event where artists of all genres get together to draw,sketch or paint in a specific area, then meet up to show what they've created. All you need to participate is something to draw with and something to drawon. You can see the official Urban Sketchers websiteat www.urbansketchers.org/.

Start and End TimesWe will meet up at 10:30 AM at the Quarry Park parking lot. We'll sketchfor a couple of hours, then take ourselves over to one of the local eateries,have some lunch and share what we have sketched.

PAL 2017 Open Juried ShowThe deadline to enter the show is May 15 at midnight. For more informationand to submit your entries, please visit www.placerarts.org/entry-thingy.

Volunteers are urgently needed! In order to make this show a success, wewould greatly appreciate your help. We are using SignUp Genius to fill thetime slots needed at the General Gomez ARTS and Events Center. Pleasesign up here. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday 10 AM to 5 PM,Friday and Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM and Sunday 2 PM to 6 PM. We areasking volunteers to sign up in 2 hour blocks. If you can do more than 2 hoursin a day that would be fabulous.
