WHAT IS FRANCOLAB?
Francolab.ca is a multimedia tool adapted to French teaching, and which
combines language learning with cultural enrichment.
Francolab.ca is made up of videos, online learning activities and activity
sheets you can print, and can be easily accessed from a computer or tablet.
WHY USE FRANCOLAB?
Promote self-expression and provide discussion topics in everyday learning
Rely on original audio-visual content to enrich identity building
Access pedagogical activity sheets designed by French language teaching experts, which supply in-depth topics to be covered in the classroom
Benefit from a powerful teaching tool that can be accessed from tablets, PC or Mac computers
WHAT’S IN FRANCOLAB?
Videos and audio-visual presentationsWhether it be history, geography, culture or society at large, you’ll find a rich assortment of videos covering topics learners will surely enjoy.
Quizzes and interactive modulesA variety of interactive exercises using audio or video elements allow students to improve their French, and in particular, to enhance their oral comprehension and vocabulary.
Pedagogical sheets developed by teaching expertsEach sheet can be downloaded and is offered in two parts: one for learners and the other for teachers –in which corrected versions are included.
WHICH TOPICS ARE COVERED?
WHO IS FRANCOLAB FOR?
Francolab’s content is aimed mostly at learners aged 14 or over, and covers different language levels, namely:
For students learning French as a second language:
• Beginner level (A1 and A2)
• Intermediary level (B1 and B2)
• Advanced level (C1 and C2)
For students taught in French:• Provides audio-visual material related to the curriculum
• Helps learners in need of academic upgrading.
BEGINNER LEVEL
Objectives :• pick out key information through the use of visual elements and simple questions
• develop oral comprehension skills in French
• acquire basic lexical, grammatical and sociocultural notions

INTERMEDIARY LEVEL
Objectives :• improve comprehension of elaborated conversations
• put linguistic notions into practice
• discover new facets of Canadian culture
Prerequisite : a basic knowledge of French.
ADVANCED LEVEL
Objectives :• improve listening skills
• oral and written self-expression on a variety of topics
• a better understanding of certain sociocultural aspects
• integrate linguistic structures that are more complex
Prerequisite : a basic knowledge of French.

PEDAGOGICAL SHEETS
Activity sheets are designed by French language teaching experts.
Every activity sheet outlines the linguistic, pragmatic and sociocultural objectives.
Learning activities are fun-oriented and related to the teaching program.
Historical, geographical and sociocultural background information put the document into context.
Transcripts are available to enrich further discussions, or to help learners get more familiar with pedagogical content.

Inspires learners to discover festivals, tourist attractions and other cultural activities among 10 Canadian regions.
Learners aged from 15 to 25 explore each region through:
• a four-minute main video presentation,
• 4 to 5 complementary videos,

• a section allowing teachers to easily organize working sessions with learners, and follow up on their progress
• 30 activity sheets that can be downloaded
