Fr. Joe’s Journal El Diario del Padre Joe We listen to the gospel as it reminds us that we need to put into action our beliefs. The way we show our faith is to serve our God and our neighbor. We need to use the talent we have to serve the people of God. We need to thank God for the talents that we have. We remember our diseased parishioners during the month of November. This past year we had a number of longtime and active parish-ioners pass away. We pray for them. We need to begin the process of preparing for Renew my Church. The Renew my Church movement in Chicago asks to work at strengthening our own parish, at appreciating what we have to of-fer other parishes and how we can gain from future cooperation with other parishes. Particularly we need to learn how we reach out to new parishioners and how we can strengthen cooperation within our par-ish. We will focus on making our parish stronger. We have begun the process of the search for a new pastor. I pray that the Spirit guide the Church in this process. I pray for the archdiocese as it faces period of great challenge and opportunity. We have had some interest in restarting our parish RCIA program. We ask if anyone else would be interested in becoming catholic. I also ask if anyone would like to help in this process. I would be happy to work with anyone who would like to be part of the RCIA team. Again I ask if anyone is interested in becoming catholic. Please contact the rectory if you are interested in either option I thank all the members of the Glenola Club for their involvement in our parish. Our parish has supported seminarians in their preparation for the priesthood. We have had seminarians work in our religious education program and assist Ignatian services. In the past we have welcomed seminarians live in our rectory. We also celebrated the first mas of Fr. Thadeo Mgimba who now serves as a pastor in the archdiocese. We also are involved in the Quigley Scholar program that helps support vocations. We also need to add our prayers for vocations. We should finalize our selection of a music director soon. The process has been difficult but we hope to have a new director by next week. See the rest of this bulletin for other im-portant articles and event announcements.

God bless you, your pastor, Fr. Joe

THE GIVING TREE

Please con-sider taking an ornament and spending $25.00 on a gift for a boy or girl. Gifts should be returned to the rectory by Wednesday, November 29th. You do not need to wrap the gifts. We ask that you don’t pur-chase gifts that need batteries. Your gifts will help make a child’s Christmas brighter! Thanksgiving Dinner Help: Please see next week’s bulletin for information about helping at the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner.

NCA Wildcats Fun Run Raises $52,000 Thank you for helping to make Northside Catholic Acade-my’s 2nd Annual Wildcats Fun Run such a success! On October 20, our students and teachers grades PreK-8 ran a total of 16,597 laps to raise money for enhancing and growing our STEAM Philosophy (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math) at both the Primary School and Middle School Campuses. We received pledges from all 50 states and 11 countries, and 69% came from non-NCA families! Thanks to the Fun Run experts at Booster-thon, they powered our Wildcats Fun Run to make it more profitable, easier, and fun. Our students not only got to participate in a fundraiser that promoted healthy living, but they learned about the importance of having character values like leadership, respect, creativity and trustworthi-ness. What a great way to kick-off the school year and celebrate NCA! This would not have been possible with-out the generous support of our parishioners, parents, teachers, staff, alumni, sponsors and especially our amazing students! Thank you! THE GREATEST AMONG US

Whom do you admire? Is it the President of the United States or a movie star or a billionaire? These are people whom the world exalts as great. Like the Pharisees in today’s Gospel, they have places of hon-or wherever they go. Would you like to follow in their footsteps? The scriptures for today offer different examples for us to follow. Jesus tells us that the greatest among us are the servants. These are the people we are to honor and imitate. We are called to be like Paul, who worked hard to serve the needs of his communities, and Jesus, who gave his life in service to the world. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
