Sugar, spice and everything nice – starting from the UBER kind parents of Sage, Shiela and Serge down to all the suppliers who worked with us to make this party an enjoyable one. Shiela and Serge were so happy and dandy when they booked us last January. Initially, Shiela wanted a mermaid theme specifically the one we did for Caitlyn, how-ever, in our continued efforts to give all our clients unique service and experience, we widened their

orbs and gave them opportunity to peek through the looking glass.

Very much touched and affected by their excite-ment and enthusiasm, I was so giddy to present them different themes that they all liked. But the unicorns theme got the golden crown. We came up with pastel colors, this time with shades of pur-ple and pink with gold hints. We conceptualized

PARTY STYLE Magazine 11

the whole look of the party and put the bits and pieces together.

We also made some DIYs here and there including our signature customized piñata pl us other cute trinkets like the unicorn sticks, floral wreaths and loot bags. We also added head of the unicorn sur-rounded with paper flowers in the candy/dessert bar that we also set up.

After which, we booked the suppliers who would put a dash of magic and dollop of happiness and TADAH! Everything was utterly enchanting and insanely captivating.

My daughter, Charlie, is madly in love with her new kitten and it was obvious that this year’s theme would be based around kittens. I decid-ed to keep the color palette simple yet bold, so I chose light pink and navy blue.

Because this was a real party with a ton of small kids, I kept the dessert table simple and set up a few stations to keep the kids busy. I took two enlarged photos of my daughter with Kitty ears and whiskers and used those as the backdrop. I surrounded the pictures with handmade garlands and banners.

The felt table drop was definitely the focal point of the dessert table. The design matched the printables perfectly! I used a very simple cake and decorated it with shimmery pink gumballs. The cupcakes had a mix of pink gumball toppers to match the cake, as well as fondant balls of yarn and kitty toppers. The rest of the treats were kitty themed. There were cheese and crackers labeled “mouse bait,” chex mix labeled “meow mix” and pretzel sticks labeled “kitty whiskers.”

After filling up on kitty treats, the kids went outside to visit the “adoption center” where they hand picked kittens of their choice, filled out adoption certificates and assembled por-table kitty condos to take them home in. Once the kittens were decked out with their rhine-stone studded collars, the kids grabbed a ticket

to the cat show where they were able to show off their blue ribbon kitties. We were even able to coax our real kitten to the cat show with some special cat treats! The kids had a blast and Charlie is still asking when her next kitty party is!

About this Party Every mother says this, but I real-ly can’t believe my daughter turned FIVE. It seems like just yesterday that I had her. Crazy! She’s my beautiful, spunky, smart, jokester, sassy, girly girl.

I first start with the overall feel and then move onto color scheme. With Mermaids you can do a lot of different colors but the Coral, Mint, Turquoise and White was what we decided to go with. After this, I move onto design! We went with a silhouette mermaid, quatrefoil and scale patterns.

We bounced around several decor ideas. Let me tell you, there are so many ideas for this theme and we just couldn’t fit it all in one party. It would almost have to be a two parter!

For some of the hanging decor, I took paper lanterns, glued tissue fringe and tulle ruffle strips to the bottom and Wall-Ah we have Jellyfish! A thanks to my mom for helping sew the ruf-fles. Also throughout the netting were hanging crystals to give that “bubble” feel. Those were from Sparkle Soi-ree. Over the dessert table were more paper lanterns but I added 5” tissue paper circles in an Ombree effect.

For the drink station I added pirate eye patches to some of the cups for the boys to take and the drink was “Ocean Water” which was lemonade.

Onto the kids table... These linens, kids table and chairs were rented from Themes for Kids Party Rentals.. They even sent little rhinestone wraps for the backs of the chairs.

I had this idea of having a few different ideas for the kids to do. First, was for them to make a bubble necklace using Gumballs and twine. Second, was to decorate treasure chests. I had starfish boxes created by Wendy’s Printable Party. and had her tie in the coloring. In each of the starfish boxes, I added the adhesive jewels for each child to decorate their treasure chest. Third, was an Activity Book I made. The Activity books had two coloring pages, connect the dots, crossword puzzle, maze and a free drawing page. I also had a Bubble show where a “Bubble Specialist” came and made giant bub-bles, square bubbles and free play with the bubbles from Best Bubble Parties.

I wanted the utensils to have a bit of flair so I had JL Mould Custom Stamps create the same coral image and stamped each in coral, mint and gold ink.

Dessert table had a lot to look at. Backdrop was a vinyl photography backdrop and I glued it to foam board then hung my banner across. I thought of having the sequin table cloth to make it look like sand and it came out so perfectly. I found the sequin table cloth from Sparkle Soiree. Tassel Garland from Paper Project was a great addition to add a little color below. The lanterns on each side were

large paper lanterns and I glued 5” tissue circles in an ombre effect. They reminded me so much of fish scales. I purchased a paper mache treasure chest at Hobby Lobby and painted it to match the colors. I filled it with floral foam then covered it in candy jewels, candy necklaces, rings, ring pops, tiar-as and the Jewel cake pops came out of the top were from Astonishing Cakes.

I loved how the treasure chest turned out. I’ve worked with Renee over at Astonishing Cakes on almost every shoot I’ve done and check out these cool jewel cake pops from her. There were also Shell cake pops and mer-maid tail cake pops too from Kima’s Konfections and the cute display box was from The Mad Cake Pops. If you follow me on Facebook, you might remember me posting these star dishes. Look how cute the Mini Shell Chocolate Covered Oreos fit inside these from Gemma at Party Style Mag-azine. Sixlets were by Sweet Works. I fell in love with these Treasure chest and Seahorse cookies from Iced Bake Shoppe. They were shimmery too which gave them a beautiful effect. The cake was bought from the Grocery Store and I had Renee from Astonish-ing Cakes make the fondant pieces and Mermaid topper. The Mermaid cook-ies to match the invitations were spot on from Cravings by Wendy! I added coral sanding sugar under them to give a little mor e detail to the display.

PARTY STYLE Magazine 43

Another detail to the dessert table was I took a paper mache “5”, painted it, added sequins and created a “Mermaid” 5. I also took mason jars I had around the house and paint-ed them. Then I added rope like yarn around the top and glued colored starfish to them.

Whimsy and Whirl made this adorable costume for my lil lady. I loved the headpiece!! It was so natural looking with a bit of glitz.

The take home favor was Beta fish for each child. This was one of the highlights of the party for the kids. They LOVED the fish. I bought jars for $1.00 from Hobby Lobby, glued shells to the top, spray painted them and of course drilled holes in the lids so those little guys could breathe.

All of these fabulous pictures were taken by the lovely Tina at T photography by Tina Hall. I’m so grateful she’s been the photographer on a few of my parties now. She really knows how to capture the moment.

About the Party

A Mad Hatter Tea by Sweetly Chic Events & Design

We fell down the rabbit hole and in love with the concept of this whimsical and vintage inspired Mad Hatter Tea styled shoot. With gorgeous costumes, stacked tea cups and a menagerie of Alice in Wonderland inspired confections, this theme had us all going Mad!

Alice, the Mad Hatter and the March Hare enjoyed their tea at a full table set with gorgeous sequin, lace and velvet in-spired fabrics, over sized chairs, and of course stacked teacups. Lace wrapped invitations, vintage books, clocks, keys and birdcages helped to set the scene for this darling shoot.

Alice wore a custom cream and blue tutu complete with lace, a gold sequin heart and a coordinating gold sequin bow along with lace gloves. The Mad Hatter donned a custom pink and cream tutu, with a pink rosette, blue and gold lace inspired bodice. She wore a Victorian style blue lace collar, cream and black lace wrist cuffs along with pink Victorian style crocheted pink leg warmers adorned with lace and pearl accents. A petite velvet Mad Hatter style hat with gold sequin accents completed her ensemble. Finally The March Hare completed the trio with a darling sport jacket, bow tie, and of course custom made ears.

Sweets included a pink and blue Victorian style cake topped with a custom made gold glitter “Eat Me” cake topper, pink and blue playing card cookies, stacked gold and pink cookies, bird cage inspired cake pops, petite Eat Me cookies, quatre-foil cookies and cupcakes with custom made toppers inspired by the vintage style printables.

Ornate frames suspended from trees, avante guarde style masks, paper straws and embroidered pillows added a touch of whimsy to a small picnic area.

This darling shoot had us all feeling like we truly were in Wonderland!

About this party

Our little girl is the baby of the family & with all brothers, we love opportu-nities to be really girly. We wanted to come up with a twist on the tradition-al Tea Party. Haley from Randomly Simple makes the cutest Tee-Pee’s - so we came up with a way to blend the two, with a Tee-Pee Tea Party - or as we lovingly call it - our TEA-Pee Party. Once the fabrics were chosen for the tee-pee’s, Anders Ruff designed the printables set - even including the cut-est teabag tags for us to use with the tea bag cookies by Sweet Themes Bakery. What birthday girl wouldn’t like this?

We headed to Filigree Farm in Buck-ley WA for this party. It’s a brand new outdoor wedding & party venue. It was gorgeous.Going for a rustic feel, Shabby Sisters

made us this table out of all reclaimed wood. It was perfect for the girls! For the table setting, we used antique tea cups & saucers from our family. I loved that they were all different, and the girls all had their favorite to use. Teaspoons with miniature teapots on them were the perfect touch. “Sweet-Tea” tea cozies & a tea strainer by Kate Aspen & custom teapot sugar cubes by Wishing Well Art. The girls were so excited to use and eat them! Plates of different sizes from Target finished off the settings. We used dish towels from the dollar section at Target as our cloth napkins & wooden silverware by Susty Party was a great compliment. Ribbons in coordinating colors pulled it all together. Cake Pops on the cutest pearl sticks by Paining Paris Pink were accented with edible images of the tee-pee. Cake Truffles, & chocolate dipped Macarons by 4KidsCakes were a favorite of the girls. Sweet Themes Bakery is our go-to cookie vendor & they created gorgeous works of art for this party....not only are they cute, but

they taste amazing! Birthday Tea from Sweet Themes bakery was yummy & smells so good!

Cupcake with Character made & pro-vided the pillows the girls sat on as well as the smaller accent pillows. Touches of lace were found everywhere. Comfy Cozy offers fun printed pillow cases -which were a fun keepsake for the girls & they even glow in the dark! I love to be creative, and can sew (a little), but when you know great seam-stress’s - why go anywhere else? Stylish Tailor & Stitch This joined forces to create the skirts & shirts the girls wore. I love how I can give them a theme & they create such adorable products but still gave the girls an individual look that complimented each other. We finished off their outfits with barefoot sandals from Pink Bear Boutique & hair pieces by Tallulah Twinkletoes. We wanted an exagerated “big” look & Tallulah came through as always! Becks Custom Creations made the girls adorable chunky bracelets. Autum-

PARTY STYLE Magazine 65

Lynn’sSins provided the cute gumball necklaces. The girls had a blast primp-ing in front of their Princess Mirrors.

Our dessert table offered a few more choices for the girls. Kate Aspen lace favor boxes held pink cake truffles for the girls to take home, accented with AndersRuff tags. The pastel Candy Kabobs with tea cups on the top from Sweets Indeed were a hit & compli-mented by Lollipics lollipops. They printed images from the printables set right onto suckers for us. They can even print a photo for you - how cute! The pink lollipic was the first thing the birthday girl ate :). The Candy Kabobs (by the orange lollipops) from Sweets from Heaven were yummy too & the girls loved them! Mini mason jars were filled with green gumballs from Target & topped with Daisy Lids from the Pretty Party Shoppe & tags from Anders Ruff. More cookies & a Princess Torta cake finished off the sweet options. This cake, while simple in appearance is delicious. Growing

up in Sweden every summer as a kid, I celebrated my birthday there every year with one of these cakes. With a yellow cake, raspberry preserves, custard, & whipped cream on the inside, and cov-ered in marzipan - it is a special birth-day memory that I was excited to bring into this birthday party. You can find a yummy recipe for this and the histo-ry of this cake here: http://semiswede.com/2011/09/21/princess-cake-de-mystified-prinsesstarta/ A selection of gourmet teas from Sweet Themes Bakery finished off the table.

When your almost 10yr old says he wants to play soccer and flag football for his birthday party, you have to come up with a way to incorporate both. Kim from Small Moments designed the perfect invitation! We focused the party around the players, instead of the actual sports.

We held the party at our local high school football field. The grandstands became the perfect backdrop for our Snack Shack & Hydration Station. We asked the kids to wear their favorite football or soccer jerseys.

Featured on the Snack Shack were both sweet & savory op-tions. Grandstand Peanuts in the most fun confetti bags from Pretty My Party sitting on DIY grandstand displays looked like people in the stands. Penalty Flag Popcorn & Cheer ‘em on Chips add to the selection. Rounding out the sweet side were 10 yard line cupcakes in referee stripe cupcake liners flanked on the other grandstand display. Both Side Out Suckers & Lineman Lollipops were displayed on

KC Bakes stands. Competitive Sugar Cookies made to match the invitations were a huge hit. What snack shack is com-plete without cotton candy? Soiree Event Designs makes custom cotton candy & were a perfect compliment to the other treats. We used an old window frame, added chicken wire, and secured the cotton candy with miniature clothes pins that we added Washi Tape to. Ball Boy Oreo’s and Minute Left Macarons finished off our cookie selections. We had to have hot dogs, so in a fun twist we made cake pops to look like them. Everyone’s favorite candy M&M’s, was offered in adorable candy cups. Small Moments made candy bar wrappers for the Take 5 candy bars and were a great take home treat for the party goers. The pennant ban-ners and large wood sign pulled it all together.

The Hydration Station was our beverage center. Water bottles with coordinating printable wraps tied the 2 tables togeth-er. We added yarn pom poms from Fizzy Party to add a fun

element. We offered Gatorade in a Mason Jar beverage dis-penser we found at Sam’s Club. The birthday boy’s favorite pop finished off the drink choices. Coordinating striped straws from Hoopla Events were em-bellished with flags from Small Moments.

The kids played soccer and flag football in between eating and opening presents. Can you tell the birthday boy likes pink? His friends sure know! Party On! Designs provided the huge balloon -Connor loved the clear look with the confetti inside! His little sister was on-hand for the festivities & decked out in a head wrap & legwarmers from Pink Bear Boutique. Older brothers played the part of ref-eree’s (thanks to their Dad be-ing one in real life). They went all out - throwing red/yellow cards during the soccer game & penalty flags during football. Whistles a plenty were blown. It was a great way to celebrate Connor’s special day with his friends!

Peg doll - TC’s girls Craftingwww.etsy.com/shop/TCsgirlscraft-ing?ref=si_shop#Facebook:www.facebook.com/pages/TCs-Girls-Crafting/441853952577947Crafting has been part of my life since I was a little girl. My mom shared with me what she knew and I held on to all of her crafting wisdom with both hands. I have always been interested in Old World crafting - sewing, quilting, crochet, embroidery, and cross stitch-ing. I am fortunate to have four won-derful daughters who have allowed me to share my love of crafting with them. They have far exceeded any skills that I have and blew them out of the water. They have added new skills and have perfected many of those that I shared with them; they have gone so far as to teach me lots of new things as well. A couple of years ago we decided to place our miniature jointed bears and our baby items in a upscale consign-ment. We had to move cross-country so we pulled our items and thought

of new ways that we could share our crafts with others. Etsy kept coming back to our minds, so in February 2013 we decided to take a chance and see if we could find success here on Etsy.It is our goal to keep crafting and share our lovingly handmade crafts with others. We hope that others can enjoy our items and that you can see the love and effort that we put in to all of our unique items.

About This Party Just because we’re living in the big city doesn’t mean we can’t have any outdoor fun. Stylish girls are also resourceful, as proven by two creative Chicago wed-ding pros Maritza Buelvas and Alice Nielsen who decided to take the idea of Glamping indoors and create a trusty toolkit for style seekers, to boot. Glamping as defined by Oxford Dictionaries is “...likely [to] satisfy any city slicker seeking a little refuge in nature—without foregoing any of life’s luxuries.” But what if nature isn’t quite cooperating in your neck of the woods? Seeking sanctuary from rainy spring days seems to be a common thread in early 2014. And for all those busy planning wed-dings, hosting soirees or just needing a “me” mo-ment, the constant downpour can certainly put a damper on one’s style mojo. Enter a stylish twist on a growing trend... Bringing the outdoors “indoors” in unexpected ways, can breathe fresh air into your next intimate gathering or group celebration. Pitch a tent by your living room fireplace this to celebrate your upcom-ing nuptials with your sweetie; roast marshmallows indoors and sip on champagne with your girlfriends while watching the 10 year celebration of Mean Girls, or pack a slew of picnic baskets and host a DIY couples engagement brunch. All it takes is a little creative ingenuity and some crafty common sense. Try mixing in rustic elements like branches and wood, with comfy home furnish-ings and desserts that seem to float off your plate. Here are some visual cues and styling ideas for trans-forming your indoor space into a glamorous retreat.

About This Party

We asked Nina’s cheeky daughter Giselle what she would like to have for her 5th Birthday. Of course a pink and purple Fairy Party was first on the list. Giselle would have a pink and purple fairy party every year and never get sick of it. After reminding her that her last party was a fairy party and her cake (much to the disappointment of her cake bak-er mum) was an icecream cake with a purple tiara on it and sprinkles. “What other things do you like Giselle?”, we asked.“I know!! A gee cake!” What is a Gee cake??! “You know, mum… G is for Giselle!” And so a theme was born.

We sat with her and thought of all the colours and things we could think of that started with the letter G! Green, gold and grey with gold glitter? The grey didn’t excite her much but the gold glitter did, and we knew we were on a winner. Giraffe cookies, Green Gumballs, Geometric print backdrop and props, a Grass table, Gummi Bears, Geek Glasses, Gemstone Oreos, Gold fish and Glitter cupcakes, Green Macarons and Green Apple Candy Pops!

On picking out her balloons to decorate in the park, I couldn’t help but include a couple of pink and purple fairy balloons… it is her party after all.

Held in November 2013 Royal National Park

About this ShootTraditional bride is a shoot to inspire values. Taking inspiration from a vin-tage aspect, we created a shoot tailored to a bride seeking simplicity.Décor & InspirationThe blush tones of the shoot, paired with the beautiful antique dresser were what shaped the entire shoot. I knew I wanted to have the gorgeous antique mirror showcasing the bridal reflec-tion, and gorgeous antiques on our table top. The glass and mirrors cap-tured light to create a beautiful roman-tic ambiance; our bride was nothing short of breathtaking in the vintage gown. I wanted very little greenery in the shoot, so I created a “wheat” look for both the floral arrangements, and tied this in within the menu.Sweets & EatsThe gorgeous masterpiece cake created by Sweet Spot shows pink wheat gently brushed onto the fondant. A light but beautiful wheat accent with the blush tones, along with gorgeous mini cupcakes sitting atop clear glass candle holders was something I dreamed and inspired to do from the moment I

started planning the shoot. We created grown up (alcoholic) pink peach lemonade which paired nice-ly with the soft pink elements of our shoot.I made a classic dessert “rice pudding” to represent a traditional component of a wedding when the guests would throw rice and grains over the bride and groom while leaving their cere-mony. This was meant to be a symbol of good fortune and prosperity for the married couple. The gorgeous maca-rons were a beautiful sight, with the deep coral pop of color inside our clear glass apothecary jars.Paper GoodsAll of the stationary was strategically matched with the cake design with subtle pink “wheat” accents. I love how Ginger Creative inspired a simple, yet beautiful paper set to match the shoot! The BrideOur bride was outfitted in a stunning lace gown. We wanted to keep her hair vintage inspired, and have the natural beauty of our bride shine through. Notice her gorgeous porcelain skin looks stunning with the sunlight and soft pallet. Look how she models so delicately the beautiful vintage pearls and simple bouquet.
