Open Researcher & Contributor IDThe Open Researcher and Con-tributor ID (ORCID) is a unique identifier for the author of a schol-arly publication. One benefit for authors is that it allows you to manage your own list of publica-tions. It is also interlinkable with other IDs, such as the Web of Science ResearcherID or the Scopus Author ID. BibliometricsThe term 'bibliometrics' describes the quanti-tative analysis of bibliographic data, e.g. pub-lication figures and citations, which makes it possible to explore and measure the impact of your scientific output.

(1) ‘Bibliometrie – Einführung in die Grundlagen‘ (an introduction to bibliometrics)This training course provides an overview of the basic terminology, factors and methods of biblio-metrics and conveys information on the areas of application of bibliometric analyses in science management; it also provides background knowledge on how to correctly interpret the analysis results.

(2) ‘Anwendung der Datenbanken’ (how to use the databases)This hands-on training course builds on the the-oretical knowledge gained in the introductory course and shows participants how various bibli-ometric indicators are computed for the main cita-tion databases, such as Web of Science or Scopus, in real-world scenarios.

These articles are then available throughout the world and retriev-able from search engines and catalogues. Secondary publishingPublications that have already been printed and published elsewhere in the traditional fashion may still be eligible for publication via an institutional repository such as OPUS Passau. This secondary publishing is also called 'green Open Access'.

Please use the SHERPA-RoMEO list (www.sherpa.ac.uk/romeo) to find out about the necessary conditions for sec-ondary publication. This list contains the licence conditions for a large number of academic pub-lishing houses.

Open Access Publication FundFor Open Access publication projects, such as journal articles, the article processing charges (APCs) are eligible to be financed through the Publication Fund of Passau University Library, if all funding conditions are met.

Open Journal SystemsThe software Open Journal Systems al-lows for the publication and manage-ment of one's own Open Access jour-nals. This program maps out the entire work-flow of publishing a journal. The University Library supports journal projects with a full range of services, e.g. with managing metadata or mi-gration projects.
