Construc on has begun!

THIS WEEKS HIGHLIGHTS

In the coming weeks, we will share updates on the renova on of the Ves bule. The construc on began on February 7th with the removal of the items in the interior of the Ves bule and the placement of the construc on fencing. The 8:00 am Morning Mass is now in the Msgr. Pierce Hall to avert from the noise of the construc on. The construc on will stop when a funeral is scheduled. The entrance to the church is the from the Msgr. Pierce hall pa o and the front side doors. Restroom are available in the Hall.

The first phase of the construc on will concentrate on the removal of the exis ng restrooms in the church ves bule and reconstruc ng new, bigger and handicap func oning restrooms on either side of the entrance. The confessionals will also be replaced with a more invi ng space. The usher closet will also be moved. A canopy to cover the entrance of the church will be placed to protect the entrance from the elements and make entering and exi ng the church more prac cal.

Please bear in mind this is construc on so there will be noise, debris, and inconvenience. We apologize for the adjustment that we will all need to make, but we are certain that in the end it will all be worth the effort.

An opportunity for Ministry work at Gladstone Convalescent Home; Urgent Need!

St. Louise Church has brought communion to the men and women who are unable to come to Church. Weekly, various parishioners have visited the Gladstone Community bringing Chris an fellowship and Eucharist. We celebrate Mass monthly at the Convalescent Home, allowing our Catholic brothers and sisters to be part of our Church community in liturgy. Twice a year, at Advent and Lent, we celebrate a healing service, anoin ng the Gladstone Catholics with the Sacrament of the Sick. Mass is celebrated on the fourth Friday of each month. Communion is brought weekly, with volunteers going together to make sure each Catholic resident has the opportunity to receive Eucharist. Please contact Sister Nancy Uhl, if you may assist in this ministry at (626) 915-7873 ext. 212.

MINISTRY AT GLADSTONE

Through Together in Mission we can share our mighty deeds and give healing and faith to the communi es that simply would not be here without your support. Though our Church is large, our strength lies not in our numbers but in our compassion and ability to respond to the call for help. Our parish goal is $140,600. Every gi , regardless of the size, ma ers so long as we give what we can and answer the calling of our faith. For those of you that have already commi ed to a gi , we hear ully thank you. For those of you that have yet to make a gi this year, there is s ll me to par cipate in this vital appeal. Together we can make sure God’s love and presence are felt by all, especially those in need,. God bless you for your generosity.

Denial as a defense mechanism

It may be difficult to understand why an abuse vic m does not come forward immediately to report an assault. For those who have suffered sexual assault or abuse, denial can be a powerful defense mechanism, one that allows them to cope with the trauma and its a ermath. O en, an abuser is someone the vic m knows and trusts, which makes it even harder to understand why the abuse is happening, and harder to come forward and ask for help and protec on.
