The end of 2019, that is. But it s not over yet! We have several events still on the calendar ... heres a quick rundown: Thursday, November 7 – Lions Club Spaghetti Supper at Calvert City United Method- ist Church. This annual event raises funds for the Calvert/Sharpe Elementary School Family Resource Center. CCUMC has asked our local churches to give them a hand this year. Friday, November 8 – Our Annual Salute to Veterans Fish Fry supporting the efforts of the Wounded Warrior Project. FBC has the lead, but several of our local churches are all-in to help us say thank youto our veterans. If you can come help, we can put you to work! Wednesday, November 20 – Our Stewardship Committee will present the proposed 2020 budget. We re asking our members to review the proposal and present any ques- tions you have either at this meeting or any time before the planned voting date of Wednesday, December 18. We couldnt have done all the things weve done this year with- out your faithful giving. Tuesday, November 26 – Our Annual Church Family Thanksgiving Dinner. This is al- ways very well attended, so we ask you to let us know as soon as possible if youll be joining us for this incredible time of food and fellowship. There is no cost for the meal, but signing up with the total number of folks you plan to bring will help us plan for food. Christmas Ministry Focus: Marshall Mission. Our Christmas Ministry efforts this year are focused on supporting Marshall Mission, the Marshall County High School Youth Resources Center. Your generosity has been heartwarming. Our November collection is for long-sleeve t-shirts in typical adult sizes from small to extra-large ... and in December well collect jeans, in youth and adult sizes. Marshall County gear is always well received, but any kind is welcomed. As always, gift cards are just as effective, as it gives the Resource Center some flexibility for special need items. VOTE VOTE VOTE. I want to make a strong plea for each of our members to make it a priority to vote on November 5th. We live in a nation that has enjoyed Gods profound blessing for generations. Im convinced that in great part thats due to the faithfulness of Christians who take their faith, their love of this nation, and our fellow citizens seriously, by standing up for Gods design for life. Read the account of Abrahams prayer for Sodom & Gomorrah (Gen 18:16-33) and notice that for the presence of just 10 righteous people, God would have spared the nation. We dont know how few it would take for God to remove His blessing on us, so lets take away the lesson that every faithful follower of Jesus matters. It doesnt take many to make a difference. But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word. Isaiah 66:2 (NASU) As weve seen in our Sunday morning sermon series from Colossians ... Jesus has a place in everything we do. I pray that you will find Him close to you ... and that the Calvert City community will find Him always present among this wonderful church family called First Baptist Church of Calvert City! Together in Him, Pastor Jim By this all men will know you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.John 13:35 (NASU)
