Mistletoe kisses can be yours all year! My name is Benji and I’m a scruffy Terrier mix. My kitten buddy, Hobbs, is pictured next to me. I’m 13-

weeks-old and I once belonged to a backyard breeder. He

sold my brothers and

sisters for $600 each, but when no one picked me, I ended up at

an animal shelter. That’s where Adopt-an-ANGEL found me. I’m an adorable, affectionate boy who

gets along well with cats, dogs and kids. I’m a little shy and quiet, but I’ll warm up quickly with the right socialization. To adopt me, please call my Adopt-an-ANGEL foster mom at 910-620-3783. As for Hobbs, he’s a very handsome orange boy, just

10-weeks-old, and he’s looking for a family. He is just as easy-going and laid-back as they come. He gets along well with cats, dogs, kids and me! He

was found at an already overcrowded Animal Control. If you’d like to adopt him, please call

Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557. We hope our beautiful faces help you to see that wonderful pets are waiting at animal shelters - all you have to do is go out and look. Thank you, Dick Parrott, for taking our Christmas photo. Once we find our “homes for the holidays”, we’ll be happy for the rest of our lives!

My name is Melody, I was picked up at Animal Control

with my 2-week-old kittens. I'm a small girl, probably around a

year-old and about as mellow as I can be. I'm special because I

have extra toes and two of my kittens have extra toes, too. I'm up to date on shots and spayed, so I'm ready for a new

home. My kittens will be ready for adoption later this month. Two of them are Siamese mixes and two of them are black like me, although they have long hair. For more information

on me or my kittens, please call 910-271-3101 or go to petfriends-online.org

We are sponsored by Pet Friends of Duplin County.

Thank you!

Ruff there from Little Bear! I got my name because I look a bit like a miniature black bear, but I’m

very cuddly just like a teddy bear! I'm a 3-year-old male Corgi

mix. I have a friendly, social personality and I get along well with the other dogs here. I'm also neutered,

current on my vaccinations, house-

trained, leash-trained, and weigh in at a mere 25 pounds.

Though the people here are really nice, I'm hoping to find someone to take me home very soon! If that could be you, please call

Pender County Humane Society at 910-259-7022 and let’s enjoy a face-to-face meeting one day in the near future!

I am sponsored by George and Brenda Harriss in

loving memory of Rosie Belle.

Hi there! My name is Bogie (CM1782)

and I’m a Lab/Shepherd mix. I was picked up by

the side of the road...I was lost!

The animal control officers wish I could

talk and tell them what happened and why I was there. I am such a sweet-heart, so everyone thinks I must have

been part of a family at some point. At just 1-year of age, I’m a little boy who

walks well on a leash and I really enjoy treats. In fact, just check out my

photo and you can see me sitting on command, waiting for that dog cookie to land in my mouth. I have a calm, friendly and affectionate demeanor and I get along with my doggie neighbors. (By that I mean the dogs in the kennels to the

left and right of me.) Would you please come take me home? Call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-

1349 or Officer Clewis at 910-279-3196 so we can get to know one another!

I am sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Insurance

Agency in honor of Dingo.

I’m a house-trained Schnauzer mix named Max (CM1744) and I just can’t figure

out what I’m doing at an animal shel-

ter! I once was part of a loving

home, but due to financial difficul-ties my owners could no longer keep me. I’m as cute as can be,

but I’m sad about being homeless. I’m just 4-years-old and have al-ways lived inside with my family. I am neutered, leash-trained, and child-friendly. I enjoyed getting my photo taken because I got

some delicious treats in exchange for sitting on com-mand! I hope I won’t be spending Christmas here.

Would you come adopt me? Just call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1349 or Officer Clewis at 910-

279-3196 and they’ll give you driving directions or any other info you need. Thanks for reading and I hope to be

meeting you soon!

I am sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Insurance Agency in loving memory of Mulligan.

Hi, I'm Reef and I'm a 1-year-old Shepherd

mix. I'm fully grown at only 40

pounds, and I am a great inside dog. I was res-cued by

Wilmington Animal

Healthcare from

a shelter where I only had a few days left. I am a super sweet boy who loves to give hugs and play ball. I also get along well with other dogs. I am up to date on all my

vaccines and have been neutered. If you are interested in meeting with me, please contact Wilmington Animal Healthcare at 910-791-7101. A veterinary background check is required. They want to make sure I will con-

tinue to get the best care I deserve.

I’m CoCo MoonPie and I’m a female Boxer mix who is 8-years-old. Six years ago, I was found

wandering on Highway 17 by a kind lady who

scooped me up and rescued me. I’ve been

living at Paw’s Place ever since! Please, won’t

someone take a chance on me and bring me home?

I’m a truly wonderful girl. I enjoy chew toys and being

around other dogs and people. I’m so very sweet -

I love giving lots of delicious doggie kisses. If you have a 6-foot fenced in

yard and a cat-free home, I hereby promise to be your loyal, loving, lifetime buddy. To find out more, or if you need driving directions, please call Paw’s Place at 910-845-

PAWS. Let’s get to know one another, OK?

I am sponsored by Christine Watkins of A Pet Nanny. Thank you!

Adopt-An-ANGEL

December 2009 www.PawPrintsMagazine.com 9

◄My name is Layla and I am an 8-month-old female Hound and Shepherd mix. I am as sweet

and submissive as I could be. I am a little shy, but I am quickly warming up to everyone who

takes the time to meet me - just a little socialization goes a long way. I get along well with other

dogs and older kids. I am house-trained and do well in the house. I am still a puppy but I am not a wild and crazy puppy!

Adopt me and enjoy all my puppy antics! Extra special thanks goes to Donna French and Bill Holland for sponsor-ing my Animal Control adoption fee and helping us come

to Adopt-An-ANGEL.

◄My name is Lucy and I am a Carolina Dog mix or something like that. I am gorgeous - that’s

all I know! I have brindle fur with spectacular Shepherd ears

that stand upright. I am an active dog who needs an active family and a fenced in yard to

play in. I would probably excel in agility. I will sit on command

and I do well with a gentle leader and a firm owner. I was found by out-of-town tourists

while they were here vacation-ing at the beach. They tried to

find my owners but no one claimed me and I ended up at Animal Control. Special thanks to Donna French and Bill Holland for sponsoring my Animal Control adoption fee

and giving me the chance to find my forever home.

►My name is Jessie. Come see me at Petco each weekend

at our adoption fairs! I am a FUN girl who doesn't realize she’s no

longer a kitten. I like to play, play, play. I guess that's be-

cause I am still just a baby. I am really pretty - I look like I am

gold! I am spayed and have my necessary shots. I am a great

companion and I am litter-trained, too! I had a litter of kit-tens several months ago and they have all been adopted. I

wish I could get lucky like they did and get a home, too.

►My name is Handsome and my sister's name is

Wobbles. We are 2 ador-able black kittens about

14-weeks of age. We would really like to be adopted to-

gether. I am a boy and she is a sweet, playful little girl. My mom and her 3 babies were sent to Animal Control when

we were just 3-weeks-old. We were very sick so we

went into foster care where we just about lost our lives. Our foster mom had to even tube feed my sister for 3 or 4 days. We made a remarkable recov-ery, but as a result my sister has been left with some neuro-

logical damage. She gets around great, but darn is she clumsy! It's really cute and even kind of fun to watch. She

gets running so fast and her back end just flips around on her and she can fall over. The vet says she needs an indoor

home. Me, I'm just handsome and would like to go with her so I can protect my little sister. We can provide hours and hours of kitty antics for some kind soul who will take us in.

►I am gorgeous just like Raquel Welch! Look at what

a pretty contrast I am of vibrant Black Labrador Retriever with

brindle markings. I am very eager to please and pretty

energetic. I would do great with a family with older kids

who have a fenced in yard and some energy to burn. I am

spayed, vaccinated and heart-worm negative. I love to play and I absolutely LOVE water.

►My name is Simone and I was found running loose on Highway 421. Scary Stuff!! Someone res-

cued me and took me to a local vet's office who turned me over to Adopt-An-ANGEL. I am very submissive

and very gentle. If you are willing to take the time to meet me, I am a

total sweetheart. I don't do well at adoption fairs because I am terrified of cars (geeze, I wonder why). We sit out at the adoption fairs and the

cars race by and I don't like it. I would really love it if a PawPrints reader picked up this magazine and fell in love with me so I wouldn't have to go to those fairs anymore. I do really well with other dogs, probably cats and especially

small kids. I am a complete couch potato.

Adopt-An-ANGEL would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to Nsalo Salon for raising

$475 for our homeless animals!

Need a foxy lady to share your life?

How about me, I’m Foxy! I’m a 3-year-old girl with an out-standing personal-ity. I’m social and friendly to all hu-

mans (you’ll never find me hiding un-der the bed) and I

like to be held or lay in your lap. I also

enjoy being brushed. I was

once at Duplin Ani-mal Control with my six nursing babies. We were running out of time so Cat

Adoption Team took us in. My children have all found homes, so now it’s my

turn. I’m great with other cats and even bathed and slept with foster kittens who weren’t my own. I’m spayed, vacci-nated, litterbox-trained and oh, did I mention that I’ve been

here since June? I’m ready to go! Won’t you give me a place to lay my head? To adopt me, please call Cat Adop-tion Team at 910-792-9014 or drop by Petsmart in Wilming-ton on Monday through Friday from 5pm to 7pm, Saturdays

from 10am to 5pm or Sundays from 1pm to 4pm. Can’t wait to meet you!

I am sponsored in memory of Cissy and all cats still in

need of loving homes.

Hello, my name is

Miranda! I’m the ebony-colored

girl in the center of

the photo. I chose

this picture because it shows you how great I am with children

and other dogs.

This is my foster family and they adore me! They want me to find a

super home. I’m a very sweet and loving girl, just 12-months-old. It’s believed I’m a Whippet/Terrier mix and I weigh about 45 pounds. As you can see, I’m friendly to

other dogs (also cats!) and I love children. I am also house-trained, crate-trained and learning basic obedience

skills at my temporary home. My foster mom says I am very willing to learn and all I want is to be loved. As for my health, I am spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm preven-tion. If you’d like to bring me home to your family, please

call the Sunburst Foundation at 910-622-0011.

I am sponsored by Hank and Grace Harrington. Thank you!

Hi there! I’m a cream-colored beauty named Kayla. I was

found wander-ing around

Oak Island, as lost as can be. They tell me I’m about 1-year-old, but they haven’t been able to determine

which breeds I’m mixed with. My mom and

dad must have been spec-

tacular, though, to

have created a dog as won-

derful as me! I’m good with men, women and children and I play well with other dogs. (I haven’t been around

cats yet, so the jury is out on that one.) I love to play and am so happy when I can come out of my kennel for some game time. I have a docked tail and I’m already spayed

and vaccinated. If you’d like to meet me in person, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340 and they’ll tell you how we

can make a play date!

I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

Brunswick County Animal Services

◄I hope my big, brown eyes are melting your heart! My name is Tulip (A014175) and I’m a small-sized Hound mix who was found as a stray. It looks as though I had puppies at one time - no one has any idea what happened to them or why I was found all alone. I’m a loving girl who adores pats on the head and soothing words. I love treats, probably because I could put on a few pounds. Come meet me and let’s fall in love!

Brunswick County Animal Services will be closed on December 24, 25, 26, 27

and 28 for the Christmas Holiday.

◄If you’ve been searching for a very

friendly and loving cat, you’re on the right page!

My name is Lucy (A016171) and I make friends with everyone I

meet. See how I’m being held in my photo? Well, I had just met this

person but I was so happy to sit in her arms and be cuddled, kissed

and rubbed. I didn’t even try to get down! I’m a 2-year-old who was found as a stray. Someone must have

once loved me, but now I’m up for grabs. I hope you’ll be the one to grab me! You won’t regret it, I promise.

◄URGENT, URGENT!! My name is Midnight

(A014097) and I’ve been living at the shelter since October 6. Halloween and Thanksgiving have

passed me by, so now I’m praying I’ll be home for

Christmas! I’m a 2-year-old girl with an extremely loving personality. It’s a mystery why I haven’t

been snatched up. I have such fun playing with

feather toys and I adore being rubbed. I’d be such

a wonderful family companion. Please come adopt me! ►My owner moved away and abandoned me! How could someone do that to

a girl as wonderful as me? My name is Brandy

(A014522) and I’m an awesome Yellow Lab. When you come visit,

take me into the playroom so you can see what a

sweet, gentle personality I possess. I love to lay

down with squeaky toys, hold them between my

paws, and listen to them squeak. If you throw it, I’ll go get it - I’m a Retriever,

you know! I was born on June 14, 2008 so I’m not quite 2-years-old. We have so many happy memories to make

together. Hop in the car and come get me!

Spot ►I may look like a puppy, but

I’m a full grown boy! And completely adorable, as you

can see. My name is Chipper (A016747) and it’s

believed I’m mixed with a Siberian Husky…but I’m a

miniature Husky as I’m only knee-high. I walk well on a

leash and am super-friendly. I will sit calmly at your feet

while you rub me. I also have a gentle and kind demeanor.

Please take me into the playroom so you’ll be sure to

see what a treasure I am!

◄I’m a precious Boxer mix named Roxy (A016734). I have the most gentle eyes and will gaze at you adoringly when you rub my neck. I know how to sit on command and will take treats ever so gently from your fingers. I was found as a stray and am 8-months-old. We would have such a wonderful life together - I was made to be a family dog! Do yourself a huge favor and come meet me!

►Whew! I feel like the luckiest little rabbit ever! I was sure I

was done for, being dumped in that parking lot. Just when I had given up all hope, some really great guy came along

with some banana so I figured he had to be better than where I was! Now I am living the good life in my foster home, but they already have two bunnies and would like to find me my very

own special home. My name is Captain Crunch, I am about 4-months-old and I’m neutered and very well-behaved. I always use my litterbox and I love

attention from people. I enjoy petting, playing and eating and would love a home where I get lots of room to exercise my

young legs. I sure am awful cute.

Please call 910-798-0103 or email [email protected] to adopt us!

Cape Fear House Rabbit Society

►Hi, I’m Lola and I’m lonely. I really need a rabbit friend. Here in rescue they have me

next to other rabbits, and I lay as close to them as I can get because I want to be their friend. I think how special it would be if I could groom them, and lay right next to them and

be with them forever. People are okay, once I get to know them. They can pet me and I like to come out and run around and play but life would just be so much happier for me with another

bunny to love. I look just like the wild rabbits you see in the yard, although I am the opposite of a wild bunny. I weigh 6

pounds and I’m perfect with my litterbox. If you have a male bunny looking for a friend I sure would like to meet him!

Wilmington, NC www.capefearrabbits.org

►Hi! My name is Barley. I’m a beautiful, dark gray, wannabe lop-eared rabbit looking for a new home. I would be lop-eared if my ears were a little longer, but they just sorta stick straight out like airplane wings. I’ve heard it said

that it gives me an inquisi-tive look that people find quite cute. I’m a big bun,

about 7 pounds, with a gentle spirit and a love of people and exploring. I am

5-years-old and I am really hoping to find that special home to give me lots of attention and room to run and play but

most of all, a commitment to keep me forever.

►Hi. I’m Blueberry, a white, lop-eared rabbit

with dark blue eyes. I did not have a very good for-

mer life. When I was brought to a wildlife center

near the Outer Banks, I was pretty emaciated.

After a neuter and some good food, I am feeling

really good about my situation. I really love attention and will beg for it when anyone walks by my pen. I also love to be out exploring the room and have just recently learned

all sorts of neat tricks – like bunny binkies and jumping on chairs. I am a little shy at first but it’s just because no one ever was nice to me before. Give me a little time and pa-

tience and I will be your forever friend.

►Hey there! I’m Ollie, and as you can see, I am pretty

content, laying next to a couple of my favorite toys: my cardboard box and my phone book. This indoor

life is pretty darn good after my previous days outdoors.

I don’t get excited about much, except food, which

always has me jumping for joy. I get along with dogs, cats and people, and have

been neutered and litterbox-trained. I am about 2-years-old, weigh about six pounds and am a beautiful cinnamon and white color. I

know, I am shamelessly bragging in hopes that someone will take me home with them! Are you the one?

◄We are about the

nicest pair of rabbits you will ever meet and we would love to live at your house! I’m

Bridget, the silver lop-

eared bunny and my friend, Pepper, is a

dwarf Dutch bunny. We are both about 3-years-old, we love each other very much and we must be adopted to-

gether. We are both very friendly, and used to being around dogs and people. We are curious and love to run and play when we are out of our pen, and we snuggle and groom each other when we are having our quiet time. We

are excellent with our litterbox. Please come meet us!

Lady, re-named Ladybug, Cover Model for December 2008

It was one year ago that Lady, a 5-year-old mini-Schnauzer from Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas, appeared on the December 2008 cover of PawPrints. A home was at the top of her Christmas list, and it wasn’t long before her wish was granted. On New Year’s Day, she joined the Scott family, consisting of dad Bill, mom Alana and children Colleen, 12, and David, 9. Today, Alana Scott tells us what life has been like for Lady since joining the household: “Her name is Ladybug now. Her original name was Lady, but her foster mom didn’t think it fit her. She called her Bug because she looked like a bug when she laid on her back while getting her tummy rubbed or scratching her back on the floor. We decided that since so much in her life was new, we would just call her Ladybug since it is an

unusual name for a dog and she is a bit quirky. Our daughter some-times calls her ‘Baby Girl’ and our son calls her ‘Buggo’. Things went well when we first brought her home. We met her foster mom at a rest stop on I-40 between Dur-ham and Wil-mington, NC.

She was shaking when she was put inside her carrier crate for the trip back, but she liked riding in the car. We made a lunch stop, parking the car so we could see her. She kept laying down, then popping her head up when other animals or people went by the car. There didn’t seem to be much of an adjustment period. She was already crate-trained and

house-trained, and only had a few accidents in the house at first. She didn’t even bark until we’d had her for several weeks. Ladybug has brought a lot of joy to our lives. She has such a sweet personality. She loves other people (not so much other dogs) and has to smell you right in your face. If you are petting her and stop, she puts her head under your hand, trying to get it back on her head. She likes to be held like a baby and have her tummy rubbed. A funny habit is that from the first day we brought her home, she has gone to bed when our children do. A funny story for us is how Ladybug LOVES playing fetch with her tennis ball. One of us will throw the ball and she takes off in such a hurry that she kicks up dust. She brings it back, drops it at our feet, picks it up again, drops it, picks it up, drops it, picks it up...she does this anywhere from five to seven times before she finally backs away from the ball so we can pick it up and throw it again. She will play this game over and over. We have to stop her because she doesn’t know when to do so. She also loves to chase the children around the house. They run one way, she goes another and it ends up with them meeting face to face. The children laugh and Lady-bug’s nub wags the whole time. She also loves playing tug of war with whoever will play with her. We feel like our family has been completed with her arrival. We love her because she is so happy. She greets us with her nub wagging, which looks like her whole back-side is in motion. We simply love her because she has the sweetest, cutest face. We see lots of cute dogs on our street, but we think she is the cutest of them all!”

Lady’s Christmas gift, a new home, would soon be arriving.

Ladybug walks with David (pictured at left) to the school bus stop every morning

and cuddles with Colleen (pictured at right) as often as she can.

Ladybug is always ready for a tug-of-war game.

CAT: Cat Adoption Team

◄I’m a fun-loving kitten with a playful attitude! My name is Nike and I’m staring at you in the hope that you’ll toss me a toy. See, I’m all about enjoying life, having a good time and giving love. It’s hard to believe I was once at a shelter where time was running out. But that’s all behind me and I’m ready to be yours! I’m a young boy, already neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. When I’m not playing I like to be kissed and cuddled. Let’s go!

◄I bet you’re wondering what a cuddly and cute boy like me is doing without a home. I used to be part of a family, but the new baby

developed an allergy to cats and it wasn’t long

before I found myself with Cat Adoption Team. My

name is Wickett and I’m a 3-year-old Tabby boy who is neutered, up to date on shots and litterbox-trained. I get along with everyone:

men, women, children, cats and even dogs. I’d be

such a great companion as I’m gentle, sweet, laid-back and friendly. Can we go soon?

►We three kittens have

lost a lot more than our mittens

- we lost our home! You see, our owner decided

she didn’t want us anymore and gave us away. Our names are Cha Cha, Tango and Samba

and we’re three Tortoiseshell girls, just 12-weeks-old, who each need loving homes. We’re great with cats, dogs, chil-

dren and adults. We’re also spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. We love to play and will keep you highly

entertained. Come choose one of us to love forever!

◄All my brothers and sisters were

adopted and I was left

behind! I’m happy for them, but

when will it be my turn? My

name is Ziggy and I’m a

male boy with medium-length fur. They tell me I’m quite handsome! I’m very sweet amd I like to be petted. I get along with other cats and am sharing a cage with one right now. I’m also

vaccinated, neutered and litterbox-trained. Pick me!

►I used to live in prison...for

real! The inmates found

me living under a

training trailer on the prison

grounds. They were so kind

to me and provided me with a diet of canned sausage until Cat Adoption Team took me in. I’m Spikey, a young boy who is ready to spend my life with

more kind humans! I’m a super-sweet and friendly fellow who enjoys playing with other kitties. I’m also good with children and dogs. And yes, you can bet that I’m already

neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. Take me home?

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!

Do you love cats? Then how about helping take care of us at Petsmart in Wilmington? Adult volunteers are needed on weekdays and weekends. For just a couple hours a

week, you can assist with adoptions, feeding, cage-cleaning and of course,

cuddling! To find out more, please call Christie at 910-283-1762.

Why are there four of

us in this picture? Well, we

were all res-cued (along

with four more of our

siblings) from a backyard

breeder and we are all in need of a home. We look mighty handsome now, but just a short time ago, we

were starving, filthy, and terrified of people. We are look-ing for special forever homes to change our minds about people. We know everyone out there can’t possibly think dogs are supposed to live outside in concrete pens with no shelter from the cold, minimal food and water, and

think we should only be used for breeding. That's what our former owner thought. We are all 4-year-old minia-

ture Schnauzers who are neutered, micro-chipped, heart-worm negative, and up to date on all of our shots. We

are great with other dogs, and really just want to be loved. We are crate-trained and working on our house-

training, which is going very well. We are extremely smart boys, some of us white, and some of us gray, but we all are searching for our forever home. Some of us are more shy than others, but we warm up with a little

coaxing and lots of cuddling. Won't you give us the time we need to show you how great we can be? Please go to www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org to fill out an adoption application right away. If you have any ques-

tions, you can call 804-986-8927.

Hi, my name is Little. I am a female, Jack Russell Ter-rier who was found as a stray. A kind soul took me in

and I am now looking for a forever home. I am a sweet, but spunky, little girl who is fun to have around. I am house-trained and very well-behaved in the house. I

love to snuggle!! I enjoy car rides and I am good on the leash. I love people, including kids, and I am OK with

most other dogs. I like to chase cats, though. I am up to date on shots and I will be spayed and micro-chipped

prior to adoption. I am hoping to find a home of my very own for the holidays. Would you grant me that wish? If so, please contact Dal Pals at 910-575-3141 or visit their

website at www.dalpals.org for more information on adopting me.

I am sponsored in honor of Izzie Bean McDougall.

Cat Tails

►With a name like Sergei you know I had to be part Rus-

sian. I am a Russian Blue mix, roughly

5-months-old. I am very friendly and

playful, too. If you would like to help

with the Eastern bloc relations, then come adopt me. I’m a better deal than one of those Russian Fur

hats that you can’t even wear in Wilmington.

►How can you not love a face like this!

My name is Dana and I’m a 6-month-old, black and white fe-male. If you want a

snuggle bunny - then you want me. I love to cuddle, wrapping my

paws around your neck and burrowing my

head under your chin. So with the cold weather on the way, you’ll need someone to keep your neck warm. Why waste your money on a scarf?

I’ll work much better.

▲Rock me Amadeus! That’s what everyone says to me, they even expect me to play the piano but with no oppos-able thumbs, it is a little hard. I am a 4-month-old, white male who, unlike my namesake, is very quiet. I do love to play with the other cats so if you have one, I will fit in nicely! They say everyone wants a white cat so why am

I still here?

►I hear you’re looking for a beautiful cat? Well, look no further! My name is Brenna and I’m a 2-year-old, black

and white, long-haired female. When I arrived

here, I had three kittens in tow but they’re leaving home and I’m ready to

move on. I get along well with other cats and dogs, and I’ll get along with you, too! So take me home and you can show all your friends, your new beautiful feline friend!

▲I know, Benji is a dog’s name, but as you can see, I am taller then some small dogs! I am a 5-year-old, male gray Tabby who quite frankly, likes the company of other

cats. I am a little shy but that’s ‘cause the other cats made fun of me, being so tall. I think they were jealous. Anyway, I had a home but the economic downturn forced me back to the shelter. Come see one of the tallest cats

and take me home.

►There are not enough words in the dictionary to

define me so they just called me Webster. But here are other words to

describe me; playful, entertaining, crazy and

loving. And if you adopt me, you can come up

with words of your own. I am an 8-month-old,

brown Tabby male with little white paws. If you want to in-crease your vocabulary without lifting a finger, or a book,

come take me home.

SANTA PICTURES WITH YOUR PET!!

We will be doing Santa Pictures at Petsmart in Wilmington on Saturday, December 12th

from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Page 18: PawPrints Magazine December 2009

I was saved by grace! (Or maybe

just smart thinking?) You see, I was once

at Animal Control and I ate the paper-work that was hang-

ing on the front of my cage. Since

there were no dates to read, no one no-

ticed that I had been there for a long

time. This enabled me to eventually be seen by Cat Adop-

tion Team, who took me into their pro-gram. I haven’t

eaten or chewed my paperwork here! All I wish for now is the chance to share life with you. My name is Morgan-Lynn and I’m a 2-year-old girl with long grey and white fur. I’m already spayed,

vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I adore being with people and am a certified Love Bug! Just pet me and I’ll purr my way into your heart. If you’d like to cuddle up with me this winter, please call Cat Adoption Team at 910-792-9014 or drop by Petsmart in Wilmington on Monday through Friday

from 5pm to 7pm, Saturdays from 10am to 5pm or Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.

I am sponsored by Phoenix Rising Agency, Inc.

Thank you!

My name is Delores and I am one ener-getic, fun girl! I love to play and I am ab-solutely starv-ing for atten-

tion and affec-tion. I am

spayed and heartworm

free which is great news! I am also crate-trained. I do

well with some dogs but not oth-ers. I also

have a strong prey drive so a home without cats is a must. I am ap-proximately 1-year-old and am still full of puppiness. I

was turned over to Adopt-An-ANGEL by a vet's office and I am not sure how I got there in the first place. It would be great if someone adopted me who had experience with my breed. If you want to know more about me or

want to adopt me, please call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557.

I am sponsored by Jim, Joyce, Turk, and Tanner

Bradley in honor of the employees at Dogs at Play. Thank you!

◄My name is Ruben (A229603) and I like rub-bin’! You can rub my back, scratch my neck or mas-sage my head. I enjoy it all! I’m a 3-year-old stray who was found around Greenfield Lake. I’m a little camera shy but I’m a lov-ing guy. I’m a laid-back feline who likes to chill. I enjoy playing with peacock feathers and I have a heart of gold. If you want a great companion who looks lov-ingly up at you, adopt me!

◄I’m Punkin (A224824) and I’m homeless through no

fault of my own. My family fell on hard times and with 5 kids to feed and care for, I was the one who had to

leave. I’m a 7-year-old prin-cess who is very friendly. I love to be touched and I like being held. I’m spayed, litter-trained and good with kids

and other animals. Actually, I came to the shelter with

Jasmine (she was pictured in last month’s issue on this very page and she’s still here, too). I am heartbroken about our current situation. Adopt one of us, please. Don’t let our family's financial and emo-

tional hardships be the way our story ends.

◄I don’t even know you yet but I’m certain I want to live with you. My name is Tyler (A229358) and I’m a Boxer and Labrador Retriever mix. I’m super handsome, I sit for treats and I’ll take them gently from your fingers. At 2-years of age, I have perfected the art of loving. I live to have fun and enjoy balls and stuffed toys. My personality is one you’ll most certainly fall in love with! Could I go home with you? Today, please?

►Ok, on my paperwork it says I

was an owner surrender and that it was “per boyfriend.” Hmmm, I’ll let you figure that one out. My name is KiKi

(A229626) and I’m a 1-year-old Lab mix

who is already spayed. I’m very,

very cuddly and enjoy snuggling right up next to you. Good thing I’m only knee

high and easy to wrap your arms around for hugs. I enjoy being

rubbed and getting back scratches and I will respect your fingers while taking treats from them. I love you already.

◄Wowza! I am one gorgeous and incredibly

charming Husky and German Shepherd mix

named Juneau (A229299). I was found as a stray near

Forest Hills Apartments but I have obviously been with a loving family. I know how to sit, shake, lay down and beg for treats. When you come to visit me, I will bark at you from my cage but make no mistake - I’m super friendly. That’s just my way of asking

you to take me into the Adoption Room for a visit. Also, I wag my tail like a wind-

mill! You better call or stop by soon, I’m a special guy!

►This stupid ecomony has really put me in a

predicament. My name is Sasha (A103208) and I’m

homeless because my owner lost her job and then our house. I’m

7-years-old and should not be spending my days in a cage. I am spayed, declawed, cuddly, super affectionate, litter-trained and purrrr-fect! I enjoy

being brushed, I’m Feline Leukemia negative and I should only be kept in-doors (since I have no

front claws to defend myself). Also, I make it a general rule to not skip any meals. I’m robust in size and my capacity for love is way bigger than my waistline!! Could we enjoy

life together and love on each other?

Page 20: PawPrints Magazine December 2009

Hi, my name is Ralph! I have graduated from the Pawsitive

Partners Prison Program which

is 8-weeks spent learning all the things to help me be a good pet for

your family. I have lots of energy and

would love to jog with you, play on the beach or do

whatever active sport you enjoy. I am enrolled in an agility class right now which is lots of fun and I am doing very well…so you see how far I have come since I was rescued from the shelter just a few months ago. I do need a home so I can continue to learn other skills like retrieving your slippers in

the morning and cuddling by your couch at night...(not really, I already am a great cuddler!) If you would like me

as your buddy, call 910-297-0290, e-mail [email protected] or visit www.montyshome.org.

I am sponsored by Robyn Davis in honor of

Wesley Davis. Thank you!

My name is Buddy and I am a VERY NICE boy! I am neutered and have all my vaccina-tions. I am also heart-worm nega-tive! I was

adopted from Adopt-An-

ANGEL as a puppy, but the people moved and left me at Animal Con-trol. I really wish they

would have called Adopt-An-ANGEL so they could have just taken me back instead of having me go to Animal

Control first. That was HEARTBREAKING! I felt so bad seeing all those other dogs I left behind. They looked at

me with such sad eyes. Anyway, I am energetic and play-ful. I get along well with kids and other dogs. I know how to sit and shake. I am also house-trained. I am a great family pet who deserves a second chance at a great for-

ever home. If you want to know more about me or want to adopt me, please call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557.

I am sponsored by the Miss Avis Davis Fund. Thank you!

◄I’m a Tabby boy who is out-of-this-world cute! My name is Mars and I’m just 7-months-old. I love to play, eat, cuddle and sleep (not necessarily in that order.) I came to the shelter with my brother, Mercury. He was just adopted. When will it be my turn? I’m good with dogs, children and other cats. I’m also up to date on shots, neutered, and perfect in the litterbox. I’m a total sweetheart so let’s meet!

Please call about our low cost spay/neuter program.

◄Don’t worry, you’re not

seeing double. We look identical

except for our white bibs,

don’t we? We are 6-month-old kittens, a

boy and a girl, who were

found as strays by a very nice

man. He kept us until the Humane Society could take us in. We are both spayed/neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-

trained. We are both very friendly and get along great with people, dogs and other cats. We haven’t yet been named so

you can do the honors! You can also adopt us together or separately. Just come on over, pet us, and hear us purr!

◄Adopt me and you’ll have a well-trained dog! My name is Cooper and I’m a 1-year-old

male Lab mix who has attended Dog Train in

Wilmington. Just ask me to ‘sit’ or ‘go down’ and I’ll show you what I learned! I’m also

house-trained, which means I can live indoors with my family and play outside in the fenced-in yard. I enjoy other dogs and I’m even OK with kittties. I’m also neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. All I

need now is you. Don’t miss the chance to adopt me!

►I’m a gorgeous female kitten with the sweetest personality you ever did

see. I also enjoy playing with toys, snuggling with humans and eating good

food. My pleasures in life are simple and I’m sure you could provide them

with no trouble. I was found as a stray and

haven’t been named, but I bet you could think of a good one, yes? I’m just

6-months old and want to spend my life with you!

◄Hello, friends! I’m a happy, friendly and playful boy. I’d tell you my name but I haven’t yet been given one. That honor will be given to the lucky person who adopts me! I was found as a stray and taken in by a kind gentleman until the shelter had space for me. I’m just 6-months-old and I get along with everyone: dogs, cats and, of course, people! I love to play and I love to be petted. Do yourself a favor and come meet me today!

►I’m a declawed girl named Zippy and I

would love for you to take me home! I

used to belong to

someone, but they moved away. I’m a very friendly

and affectionate girl - I bet you and I would be perfect living partners! I’m highly kissable and cuddly and I also get

along great with other cats, should you have any. Because my front paws are declawed, I’ll need to be kept indoors so that I can stay safe out of harm’s way. I’m just 2-years-old, spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. Let’s go home!

Page 22: PawPrints Magazine December 2009

My name is Glinda and this is a photo of

me on graduation day. (Don’t I look cute with my cap on?) You see, I

went through an 8-week class with the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program on

how to be a good pet for your family. I

even lived with a dog trainer for several

weeks and attended lots and lots of

events with her to meet people and show them how

sweet I am but to no avail; the right home has not come along

for me. I am a very good girl and everyone really seems to love me, but all say they have no room for me. Can you make this the bestest Christmas ever by making me part of your family? I love people (especially the little ones

they call children.) Some men I find scary, but I warm up quickly. I play well with other dogs, cats not so well. You can fill out an adoption form at www.montyshome.org or

call 910-297-0290. You can even email us at [email protected]. Hope to see you soon!

I am sponsored by Nelda Illick. Thank you!

Hey there y’all, hiccup! My name is Otis. I am an ap-proximately 1-year-old Ter-rier-Hound mix with pouty

eyes and a continually wagging tail. My fur is

white, black and brindle. Personally I think I look adorable and that’s not

because I am full of myself. Well, maybe just a little. You will surely feel the

same way after only a few moments with me. The motif for this group is the

Andy Griffith Show and my trainer has picked up on my personality since I’ve been here in Andy’s jail. In all

actuality, he says I reflect my character in the show. I pay close attention when being guided through my training and also have moments of contagious Terrier energy. Like my

character, though, I am easily talked down. See, since I’ve dried out here in Andy’s jail, food is my vice. That has made it a cinch for my trainer to work with me. In fact, my pleasant walk is something to brag about and I don’t mind coming when called, either. If you like to laugh and want to share some funny moments, you’ll love my intelligent

personality. Please call 910-297-0290, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.montyshome.org.

Written for Otis by his inmate trainer Craig M.

Otis is sponsored by Barb Raab in memory of a special friend; Toby Merritt.

◄My name is

Luna and I’m a 1½-year-old

Terrier mix girl. Folks tell me I’m awesome and that I have NO

issues. I’ll play with

anyone and don’t mind sharing rawhides with any other dog. In fact, I love dogs and I love people! I think

everyone around me is there to either play with me or give me a hug. I am spayed, up to date on shots and on

heartworm prevention. Be my best friend for life!

◄Hi! My name is Rosalee. I’m a 6-year-old Cattle Dog

mix with a loving heart and a friendly personality. I’m so

happy when someone comes to greet me. I’ll sit down

beside them (just like in my photo) and snuggle up close. I came to Paw’s Place as a stray. Now all I’m looking for is a family to call my

own. I’m spayed, up to date on shots and I walk well on a leash. I love playing with

children and would be a great companion for some lucky person or family.

Would you visit me at the shelter?

►My name is Todd and I’m a great dog! My date of birth is April 1, 2004 and I weigh 70 pounds. I’m full of love and I’m also full of fun for you and your

kids or grandkids. I’m house-trained and I have good

house manners. If you already have a dog, please bring

him or her to Paw’s Place and let’s see if we can become

friends. I’ve been at the shelter four

years...when will someone take me home?

◄Chihuahua lovers and Dachshund lovers

can rejoice! I’m an adorable combination

of the two. Hi, my name is Taffy and I’m

a mature girl who weighs just 16 pounds.

I’m a house-trained, harness-trained darling who loves people and loves to cuddle. About four months ago, I had surgery on my knee. I feel great now, though, and am ready to find

my new home! I require no special medication, but would prefer to be

picked up and placed in your lap, couch or bed. I’m in excellent health and can go for walks, cuddle in your lap and ride in the car. I’m also spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Would you be my new buddy?

◄My name is Stella and I’ve been living at Paw’s Place for six of my eight years. It’s high time I got adopted, don’t you think? I’m a shy but gentle girl who is looking for a quiet home. I’m already house-trained so you won’t need to worry about accidents. I have good manners around other dogs and I was a well-behaved girl at a recent adoption fair. If you’ve got a warm home and love in your heart, we could be a perfect match!

◄I might be nothin' but a hound dog, but I sure am proud! My name is Beau and I can do lots of good things: I walk nicely on a leash, am house-trained, I can sit for a cookie, and I get along well with other dogs. I LOVE to play. I am 3½-years-old and have lived at Paw’s Place for 2½ of those years. Please give me a home where I can be cherished forever...I’m a very good boy and we’d have a happy life together!

IF YOUR DOG IS NOT COMING TO YOU...YOU SHOULD BE COMING TO US!

Looking for a kinder, gentler, way of training? Is your dog more than just property? Do you want a dog that WANTS to please you instead

of a dog that is afraid of you? A Not For Profit Service Organi-zation since 1971, Azalea Dog Training Club (ADTC) has been the longest continuing Canine Training School in the area. Other training programs have come and gone, ADTC is still here! An all-volunteer organization, ADTC is proud of its many Certi-fied Instructors who are among the best trainers in the nation in Obedi-ence, Agility, Rally Obedience, Conformation, Tracking and/or Herding. All began training hop-ing for a pet with good manners! Our Instructors, including those holding multiple OTCH’s, multiple Agility CH’s and MACHs, have over 300 years combined experi-ence, continue their education by

attending seminars in order to pro-vide the very best to the public! Our volunteers’ “payday” is when a student team completes a level of training with a smile knowing they have accomplished a goal. A goal met without pain, fear or intimida-tion. All classes, at all levels of training, practice the three P’s: Practice, Patience, and Praise! The loving bond developed between handler and companion is the most impor-tant part of our training program. The dogs in training are people’s best friends and faithful companions - don’t they deserve to be trained with a loving, respectful hand?! YES they do! ADTC believes in giving to the community. Since the 1970’s ADTC has been visiting area As-sisted Care and Rehab Centers. Presently our teams visit two times a week, every week! ADTC also provides School Safety Programs in a five county area, without charge. ADTC has been invited over the years to participate in multiple County events. ADTC was a pio-neer in the area for helping our wonderful Shelters and Rescue Groups. Adoptees’ owners are of-fered a reduced rate for training classes, and have been since the early 1970’s. Area Humane Socie-

ties benefit from ADTC donating funds, food and various supplies throughout the year. Continuing Community Service includes hosting Tattoo, Microchip, and Rabies Clinics and special en-joyable times for all in the recording of memories of our companions through the magical images of Paw-Prints Magazine’s Cover Photogra-pher, Dick Parrott. ADTC’s training building, the larg-est, climate controlled, fully matted facility in the area, is located 8 min-utes north of Odgen on US 17, just past Whitebridge Estates. Would You Please Help Me

Recover?

I’m Jagger, a 2-year-old, male American Staf-fordshire Terrier who is under fos-

ter care with P.E.A.R. (Pender

Endangered Animal Rescue). On the night of October 24, I managed to escape my kennel. After a desperate search,

my human friends found me with a deep wound on my head and a shattered hip and leg. It was assumed that I’d been struck by a car but a veterinarian determined that my injuries might have been caused by a hoe or shovel! My leg could not be saved and was removed, which has re-sulted in a very high vet bill for my friends at P.E.A.R. If

you wish to help them with a tax-deductible donation, please mail it to P.E.A.R., P.O. Box 582, Rocky Point, NC 28457, and make a note that your contribution is for me, Jagger. Any amount would be greatly appreciated! De-

spite all I’ve been through, I’m doing well and have learned how to walk and run on three legs and am in great spirits. I’m available for adoption and am looking for a family who will give me lots of attention and love. I’m in a foster home and doing very well with the family and their dogs. I’m also great with children and just want to lay my head on your lap and be loved. If you are interested in adopting me, please

call P.E.A.R. at 910-675-0867.

I am sponsored by Phoenix Rising Agency, Inc.

Hello everyone, my name is Aunt Bee and I am a yel-low Lab. I am very love-able and love attention. I am a little shy, but once I get to know my surround-ings I am a wonderful dog, and very playful. I am here at the Pawsitive Partners

Prison Program being trained to be an obedient

and fun-loving dog. Oh, did I mention I love staying real

close to my companion? So if you like a loveable,

yet a little shy girl then I am the dog for you. Sincerely, Aunt Bee. Please call 910-

297-0290, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.montyshome.org.

Written for Aunt Bee by her inmate trainer Jerry S.

I am sponsored in support of the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program. Please visit their website at www.montyshome.org for more information.

Hello! I’m Opie, an 8-month-old Shepherd mix and I’m looking for my special home. I have heard

nothing but praise from my trainer since being enrolled in the

Pawsitive Partners Prison Pro-gram. I’m a true puppy at heart,

full of lots of energy and love. My trainer says that I pay atten-tion well and perform my com-

mands with confidence. I guess I just love being around people and other dogs. To be honest

with my new family that’s await-ing my arrival, I have no problem with being showered with atten-tion and affection. Just to add to

my puppy résumé, I’m crate-trained, neutered and up to date with all my shots. I would love to be the companion

you’re looking for. Please call 910-297-0290, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.montyshome.org.

Pender County Animal Shelter Please call 910-259-1349 or 910-279-3196 and leave a message to adopt us!

3088 New Savannah Rd., Burgaw, NC Pendercountyanimalshelter.petfinder.com

◄My nam is Old Girl (CF1355) and I hope someone with a kind heart will decide to adopt me so I can spend this winter in a warm, cozy home! I’m a 6 to 7-year-old Lab/Boxer mix. My owner brought me here due to financial troubles. I am such a lover girl - I literally give hugs! The folks here want you to know that I’ll put both arms around you when I want to show affection. Please adopt me!

◄URGENT, URGENT!!!I’m a beautiful Black Lab

girl named Phoenix (CF1624) and I appeared on this page last month

but haven’t yet been adopted. I used to be

part of a family, but when my owner’s mother got married, her new hubby said I couldn’t stay. It’s very sad because I’m a wonderful dog and want

nothing more than to make you happy. I’m

house-trained and spayed and I used to live with

another dog so it’s safe to say I’m canine-friendly. I never meet a stranger and love

treats. Would you come visit me? I’m waiting.

◄Hi there! My name is Brutus (CM1700) and I was found as a stray with my buddy, Alex, who is pictured next to me. I’m a great Lab mix who knows how to ‘sit’ and ‘beg’ on command. I really love treats, so if you’d like to test my knowledge of these commands, just show me a cookie! I walk well on a leash, possess a gentle demeanor, and would love to be your boy! Let’s go home.

◄Hello! My name is Alex (CM1701) and it wasn’t long ago that I

was found by the side of the road with my friend, Brutus. He’s pictured

next to me. At around 2-years of age, I’m a very nice boy with a gentle

personality and a friendly outlook on life. I will

happily sit on command for treats and I’ll even

catch them in my mouth! I have no trouble walking on a leash, so how about

leading me out of here and into your car? I’d love to drive home with you.

►Why are we inside a

shelter when we could be

making some humans very happy? My

name is Tabitha (FF

1652) and I’m a 6-week-old

girl. I’m standing in the forefront of the photo. Sleeping in the back is my sister, Jessica (FF1653). We are very friendly and sweet girls. We’ve been called miniature Houdini’s because we like to escape out of our cage and explore. We’re just trying to

find a way home to you! Adopt us together or separately.

►I was made for cuddling! My name is

Sabrina (FF1078) and

I’m a 1 to 2-year-old Tabby girl

who doesn’t understand why I’m at a shelter. My

owner could no longer keep me and brought me here. Won’t someone bring me home so I can be a family member again? I’m already spayed, so you won’t have to worry about doing that. Adopt me, please - I’m so friendly and affectionate!

Page 34: PawPrints Magazine December 2009

Boy, have I had a rough start in life! After suf-fering horrific neglect, I was so happy to

have found my forever home

last month. In a cruel twist of

fate, I was sto-len right out of

my new family's back yard.

After a long and scary 24 hours, I was found by my foster fam-ily. I am a full-

breed, 7-month-old American

Staffordshire Terrier named Scooby. I've been neutered, had all my shots and adore playing with dogs, cats and children. My nickname is "butterball" and I am a "social

dynamo". So, won't you finally give me the second chance everyone tells me I deserve? Please email

[email protected] or call 910-231-4275 for more information on me and how I can become your bestest

friend. P.S. Don't let those missing patches of hair worry you, my hair is growing back in!

I am sponsored by Francesca Slaughter in loving

memory of Casper and Lucy. Thank you!

Howdy! My name is Bernie and I would love to have you as

my new bestest friend. I was

surrendered by my family because they could not afford my

care. You see, I tested positive for Parvo and was in need of treatment. I’ve received that

treatment and now I’m ALL better. I’m just 3-

months-old and I’m already crate-trained

and about 92% house-trained. I know where I’m suppose to use the bathroom - I just sometimes can’t

hold it. After all, I’m still a puppy! I’m a good boy who listens well. I’m super friendly and I love everyone. I’m good with people, cats, dogs and kids. You can’t tell by

this picture but my friends tell me that I’m funny, goofy and silly. I am good both off and on a leash and I would be happy in a home with or without a fenced yard. If you

would like to adopt me, please call Furever Friends at 910-383-2100 (Monday through Friday between 8am-6pm).

I am sponsored by Phoenix Rising Agency, Inc.

Thank you!

My name is Cinnamon and

I’m a well-trained, affectionate girl.

You’ll find I’m very easy to love! At 2-years of age, I lost my home when my human daddy died

and my mom couldn’t afford to

keep me. She was so upset because

she’s had me since I was 8-weeks-old. She prays there is a great home for me out there. I’m

already house-trained, I know how to sit and

come on command, I’m leash-trained and I LOVE to play ball. I enjoy car rides, am good with other dogs and am

even OK with cats. I’m a Terrier mix who is used to living inside with my family and playing outside in the fenced-in yard. In my former home, I lived with a toddler and we got

along great! I’m also spayed, vaccinated and on heart-worm prevention. If you’d like to share your life with an obedient and friendly companion, call the New Hanover

Humane Society at 910-763-6692. See you soon!

I am sponsored by Levi Donovan. Please consider adoption.

◄Woof to you! My name is Zodiac and I'm a 3-year-old Shepherd mix girl. There are so many great things to say about me! I'm house-trained and leash-trained and can sit and lay down on command. I get along well with all people, cats, kittens and dogs! I am already spayed, up to date on shots and ready to go. If a gentle, loving girl like me is your desire, come meet me soon!

◄I'm a 5-month-old

Calico kitten and my name

is Angela. I’m a very

loving girl and I’m in need of a good home. Not too long ago, I was

rescued from underneath a

building by a kind lady. Although it's much nicer living here at the shelter, I really would like to find a family. I'm vaccinated, litterbox-trained and spayed. I'm also very

snuggly and get along great with other kitties. Adopt me!

▲We just arrived at the shelter and are getting used to all the sights and sounds! My name is Trouser and

I’m the 6-week-old Tabby boy on the left. Next to me is my best friend, Boots. He’s black and white. We are very purry, affectionate kittens who enjoy being

held and playing with toys. We can be adopted together or separately, so how about driving on over?

◄Yip there from Cheeto! I'm a 2-year-old Chihua-

hua/Terrier mix who's looking for my furever

family. I’m a very affec-tionate and playful boy

and I’m such a nice petite size! I have already been neutered and am current on all my vaccinations. Here’s even more good

news: I’m house-trained, leash-trained, and on

heartworm prevention. They tell me I’m a very

darling boy, so I sure do hope you’ll come visit and see for yourself!

►The ladies tell us we’re

heart-melters. We’re not quite sure what that means, but we do get lots of

hugs and kisses so it

must be a good thing! My

name is Jack and I’m the 6-

week-old puppy on the left. Next to me is my sister, Jill. We were abandoned in a box with our mother and another sibling. It was pouring rain and the box had no cover. Our sibling died, but we have all grown healthy and strong. We

appear to be purebred Beagles and are simply adorable when we play, yawn, sleep and snuggle. Come meet us!

◄Purrs from Rosie! I'm a super sweet and loving

kitty looking for a good

home. I was brought to the shelter by a nice lady who had been

feeding me when I was a stray hanging out by a storage unit. I’m

very grateful for her help because I love people and want to be part of a family. I'm current on my vaccinations, spayed, litterbox-trained and under a year old. I get along great with the other cats and kittens here and,

as you can see from my photo, I’m very cuddly!

◄Hi there! My name is Paul and I’m looking for a loving home. My mom was a stray who gave birth to me and my siblings. (Their names are Peter and Mary and they’re pictured on this page, too.) At just 15-weeks of age, I’m a sweet, affectionate boy who is neutered, up to date on shots and litterbox-trained. I love to play and I love to be with my humans. I sure hope we can meet soon! To make that happen, please call my SOAR foster mom at 910-278-7901.

◄I’m a loveable, pure black kitten named The Black Prince.

I’ve also got a very cute nickname: Sassypants! I’m playful, friendly and quite a character. I was born around April 1 and am neutered, up to date on shots and a perfect user of the litterbox. I

love to play with the big dog in my foster home, as well as the older cats and other foster kittens.

I also love to sleep in bed at night with my

humans. To adopt me, please call my SOAR foster mom at 910-278-4437. ►Need a buddy? My

name is Bubba and I’m an expert when it comes to making friends. I love

all people, especially women. Can you blame me? After all, they love to hug and kiss me and tell me how adorable I

am. I’m a Rottweiler mix who is smallish in stature and I’m already neutered,

vaccinated and on heartworm prevention.

I’m looking for a cat-free home, but other dogs are A-OK. I’m just a sweet

guy who is ready to melt your heart. Come visit me!

►Would you play with me? I’m Peter and I love having a

good time with humans. They think I’m pretty cute by

the way I skip around the room, chasing toys and

feathers. I’m a 15-week-old boy who also loves to be

held - when I’m tired from playing, I’ll lay so sweetly in your arms! I am neutered,

vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I’m great with other

cats and am a social, friendly boy. To take me

home, call my SOAR foster mom at 910-278-7901.

►Looking for a darling, female kitten? How about

me? My name is Mary and I’m as darling as they come! At just 15-weeks-old, I’ve got a lifetime of wonderful memories to give you. I am already

spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained, so you

won’t have to worry about any of that. I love to play

with toy balls and am a good eater and a good cuddler. If you’d like to

hear even more, please call my SOAR foster

mom at 910-278-7901.

►Snuggle up with me this winter! My name is Gremlin and I’m a precious 8-week-old

kitten who was bottle-fed as a tiny baby. Did you know that bottle-feeding makes kittens extra sweet? It’s be-cause we get so used to being held close to humans. I’m a neu-

tered boy who is good with children, other cats and also dogs. I’m also a certified Lap Cat, so if you adopt me your lap will always be warm.

I’m such an affectionate boy and I’d like to be yours! Call my SOAR foster mom at 910-278-4437 and let’s meet.

I’m a 40 pound Lap Dog named Kong! At just 9-months of age, I adore being with people. I recently

took a car ride with the shelter

manager and her daughter, and I

slept in the daughter’s lap for most of the way

home! I’m such a sweetheart and

all I want is to be loved. I’m a Shepherd/

Weimaraner mix boy who is neu-tered and vaccinated. I was found as a stray on Oak Is-land and am completely loveable. I get along fine with everyone: men, women, children, cats and dogs. I be-haved like a perfect angel at a recent adoption fair, so I

don’t know why I haven’t been adopted. Would you come meet me? I guarantee you’ll fall in love. Please call

SOAR at 910-457-6340 and tell them you’d like us to get together!

I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their

wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

I hope you won’t be able to resist my sweet face! You see, I’m at

Animal Control and just don’t under-

stand why I’m not living with a family. My name is Luke (Q64) and I’m a

2-year-old Border Collie who was

found as a stray. I have an endearing, expressive person-ality - just look at the way I tilted my head when they were taking my

photo. There was a collective “Awwww” when I did that! I am friendly, play-ful and I walk well on a leash. I’ve been getting along just fine with my doggie neighbors (they sit in kennels on the left and right of me.) I’m attentive to what you desire - for

example, when they told me to ‘sit’ for my photo, I did! The Animal Control officers have even noticed that I don’t shed as much as other dogs. Would you make this the best Christmas ever by adopting me? Just call Pender

County Animal Control at 910-259-1349 or Officer Clewis at 910-279-3196.

I am sponsored by Judy and Bob Neale in memory of

And Don’t Forget…

photographer Dick Parrott at Wilmington Animal Healthcare from 11am to 4pm.

(see page 43, Shelter News, for details)

◄My name is Dawson and I love people, espe-cially children! I’m a 3-

year-old, flat-coated Re-triever mix and I’d dearly

love to belong to your family. I am house-

trained, crate-trained, neutered, vaccinated,

and on heartworm pre-vention. I play well with other dogs and I’ve had no problem with cats. I

can also sit on command for treats. In fact, I might

be able to do that too well, because I’m a bit overweight and need to lose

some pounds. I’d be a great jogging partner!

◄I’m Rosie! I’m a medium-sized Pug/Spitz mix and, at

just 3-years-old, I’m a smart, friendly girl who would be a great agility dog. I adore

children and am friendly to adult humans as well! I am doing fine in getting along with other dogs and have

been working with an obedi-ence trainer. I would love to continue obedience training

with my new family. I re-cently completed heartworm

treatment, so now my heart is healthy and I’m ready to set-

tle down in my new home. You’ll be so delighted to share your life with me - I’m just a great little girl!

◄Could you Help With My Medical Care?

I’m Lola and I’m a sweet and loving girl. I’m a 2 to 3-year-old Shepherd mix and all I

want is to please and be loved. Unfortunately, I was found to have a torn cruciate ligament. At this point, it is not able to be repaired surgically, and I will need to stay on supplements for the rest of my life. I also

require special exercise with a pool. Any donations, no mat-

ter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated. They’re tax-deductible, too! Please make your checks payable to the Sunburst Foundation and send to Sun-

burst Foundation, P.O. Box 7527, Wilmington, NC 28406. In the memo line, please indicate that your con-tribution is for “Lola” Thank you so much for wanting to help me! I’m doing beautifully in my foster home and

hope to soon find a forever family.

◄I’m Quincey and I’m an awesome Chocolate Lab mix boy! (I used to go by Hershey Joe but I have a new name now.) I’m a 6-

year-old fellow who is sweet and friendly. I walk

well on a leash and am neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. I love being with people and would be a faithful companion to you and your loved ones. Right now I’m in a wonderful

foster home where I am playing with my two female canine friends. We go swim-ming and jogging together and I love it! If you’re a fan of

sweet-hearted Chocolate Labs, call today!

that make me sound like the perfect dog for you? I love to play with other dogs, am crate-trained, and am learning to play with toys. I would love to have a home for the holidays. Won’t you give me a chance? If you are interested in me or any

other Goldens in need, please contact the Cape Fear Golden Retriever Rescue at 910-791-5001 or log onto

their site at www.cfgoldenrescue.com.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Ben Blackney.

Bink Needs Your Help!

This very sweet and

loving 6-year-old Golden

Retriever can’t speak, so the

Cape Fear Golden Re-

triever Rescue (CFGRR) is

speaking for him. Bink’s story begins when he was hit by a car in Jacksonville and went for over a week in pain and

alone without any veterinary care. When Bink came to CFGRR, he had a temperature over 104 degrees, was

coughing and wheezing due to a severe case of pneumo-nia, had lost weight and had a hip completely out of

socket. After a week at the vet, with force feeding, con-stant fluid draining from his chest cavity, x-rays and an

ultrasound, Bink went in for emergency surgery. Unfortu-nately, it was worst case scenario and his entire right lung

had to be removed. Most dogs don’t even survive this kind of surgery, but Bink has! He has a heart of gold and is a true fighter. Everyone wants the end of this story to

be a happy one - one where Bink goes to a loving, forever home after recovery. CFGRR is reaching out to other

animal lovers who want to help a very sweet dog in need. He is worth it and he is fighting hard to prove it to every-

one. The Cape Fear Golden Retriever Rescue would appreciate donations for his care no matter how big or

small. Thus far, his veterinary expenses exceed $3,000. If you are interested in helping Bink, please make your

tax-deductible donation payable to: CFGRR and mail it to P.O. Box 12697, Wilmington, NC 28405. Please be sure to note “for Bink” on your check. You may also call 910-

791-5001 for more information. Bink thanks you!

I am sponsored in loving memory of Toby Merritt, beloved God Dog of Aunt Kerry. May it be raining

french fries in heaven. You will be missed.

A Special Friend for a Veteran Another Tails U Win and Carolina Canines for Veterans Success Story! Hamilton is a "Hamilton Hound", rescued by a gen-tleman in Brunswick County. Hamilton immedi-ately showed everyone how loving and happy he was with a toy drive that was a joy to see. His confidence, his size (at about 60 pounds) and his wonderful "I love everybody" person-ality made him the perfect candidate to be trained as an assistance dog for a wounded veteran. Hamilton is the fifth dog that has been sent to the Carolina Canines program from Tails U Win, the third sent for the Wounded Warriors program. When his training is completed, Hamilton's special skills will be matched with a disabled veteran who needs an assis-tance dog to carry on with a good quality of life. More information on the Carolina Canines for Vet-erans program is available at www.carolinacanines.org.

Helloooo! My name is Jasmine and my Christmas wish is to find my forever home. I’m a young Golden Retriever mix girl with a heart of gold. I was very scared when I

ended up at a shelter, but now that I am in a foster home, my true personality is coming out. I love to go for walks and I love to hang out with my foster brother dog. I am also house-trained and crate-trained! I am heartworm

positive but the rescue is taking care of getting me better. I’m a little shy upon first meeting but will warm up to you. I would love to have a chance at a new lease on life. If you

are interested in adopting me, please contact the Cape Fear Golden Retriever Rescue at 910-791-5001 or log

onto their site www.cfgoldenrescue.com.

I am sponsored in honor of Angel McCracken's family.

Hello! My name is Willie and I’m a gor-

geous Black Lab. I was

found in early November off River Road in Wilmington. Everyone

thinks I must have be-longed to

someone as I’m in great

shape, house-trained, and excellent at sitting on

command. Still, my own-ers haven’t

been found so now I’m looking for you to make me a member of your family. I’m a young adult boy who is very affectionate and doggie social. I recently visited Zeetlegoo’s pet store in Southport and was a perfect

gentleman while they picked out a new collar for me. I’m already neutered and I love to be petted and rubbed. Do you think we could be a match made in heaven? If so,

please call SOAR at 910-457-6340 and let’s get together!

I am sponsored by www.TheKarmaFund.org, thanks!

I’d love to be part of a fun, affection-

ate family! My name is Jake and I get along great with children - we could play in the

backyard and snuggle together at night. But hey, even if you don’t have kids we can

also have fun together - playing with balls, going

for walks and again, snuggling! At just 40 pounds,

I’m a petite boy who is fully grown

at 4-years-old. (Actually, I’m 3

years and 11 months - I’ll be 4 in January.) I’m house-trained, an excellent walker, people-friendly, dog-friendly

and obedient. I can ‘sit’ and ‘lay down’ on command. They think I might be a Whippet mix and I’m already neu-

tered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. I’m a great family dog...so where is my family? If you’d like to

meet me, please call Paw’s Place at 910-845-PAWS.

I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

Tails U Win Please call 910-250-3004 or email [email protected] to adopt us!

►My Tails U Win foster mom pulled

me from the Animal Control so that I

could get my medi-cines and such, and find myself a won-derful, new happy

home! My name is Lacey and I am so

stunningly gor-geous! Caramel eyes, those gor-

geous fluff ears and my beautiful brown and black color-ing! I'm a little girl, only about 40 pounds or so, and I'm approximately 1-year-old so I'm not going to get any big-ger. I'm all crate-trained now and I'm almost all the way

house-trained. Kitty-Cats don't bother me a bit!

►My name is Tracks and I’m almost a pure-

bred black Labrador Re-triever boy who just abso-lutely and totally loves to

chase after any and all balls and toys! That's

me! My foster Mom said she named me Tracks cause when I ran up to

her in her yard, I was 'makin' Tracks"...she's so silly. I'm about 20 to 22-

weeks-old now, and I have all the traits of the

Lab: energy, playfulness and love-me-to-pieces-

rub-my-ears!

◄My name is Sunkist! I was adopted but then they had to bring me back be-

cause their family situation changed. At 8-months,

I'm only about 15 pounds, so I'm not going to be very

big at all. I have these funny wrinkles all around my face that make my fur part and give me the cut-est "I'm serious" look. I've been fostered with other puppies, adult doggies

and kitty-cats too! I love to lay on the couch with

my foster daddy and mommy and then go play and have fun. I'm all crate-trained, and I'm almost all the way house-trained, too!

◄Hi, my name is Shiloh. I'm a Jack Russell and Hound mix girl who is

8-months-old and only 25 to 30 pounds. My foster

mom took in my Mama way back when I was born in

March. I found a new home but then they couldn't keep me, so I'm trying to find my perfect, new, happy home. I've been around other dog-gies since I was born, so I would be happiest if I can

go to a home that has other doggies to play with. I can

be just a teeny shy when I meet someone new, but I warm right up as soon as they give me good ear rub.

►My name is Trouble. I got my name ‘cause when my

foster mom took me home, I chewed her shoe! Isn't my

fault she doesn’t understand that I didn't see a shoe, I

saw a chew toy. I’ve got a whole bunch of toys now

that I can play and be happy with! I'm all crate-trained and I'm playing so happily

with my foster buddies. I'm a black Lab and Shepherd mix of some sort, and my foster mom just loves my

ears. One wants to stand straight up and one can't make up its mind. These caramel eyes of mine with my black

fur are just too gorgeous!

◄My name is Jake and my foster mom went to get me from Animal Control after I was found straying. The doctors say I'm 1-year-old and 60 pounds. My foster mommy says I'm a sweet, sweet boy, but I've still got tons of 'puppy' in me. She's working with me to teach me my puppy manners and my obedi-ence and how to greet people without bowling them over! I'm pretty much almost all the way house-trained, too!

I Need a Foster Home

and Help for My Heartworms!

Hello! This happy face belongs to me, Ming Ming! I’m a 1-year-old female

Boxer/American Bull-dog mix who needs your compassion.

The Sunburst Foun-dation is looking for a foster home where I

can undergo heartworm treatment. You see, I have those icky heartworms and I sure would like to get rid of them. A foster home would be a great place for me to rest and

recuperate as the treatment does its work. Donations are also desperately needed to pay for the treatment. Once I am healthy, I can find a permanent home. I am a sweet, house-trained girl and I get along just fine with other dogs

and people. You can mail your tax deductible check to Sunburst Foundation, P.O. Box 7527, Wilmington, NC

28406. Please indicate that it is for Ming Ming's medical care. Thank you! If you’d like more information on be-coming a foster home, or have any questions about my medical care, email [email protected] or

call Sunburst at 910-622-0011.

I am sponsored by the Karl Miller family. Thank you!

Do you have a kind, compassionate

heart? I’ve heard there are people like you out there, but so far I’ve met the cold-hearted ones. Can

you see the scar above my nose? It continues under my mouth, too. Some-

one apparently wired my mouth shut. The reason behind it is

impossible to fathom. I’m a sweetheart who wants nothing more than to please my humans. Luckily, I

got away from my abusers because I was found on a dirt road and am now enjoying all the positive attention I’m getting at Paw’s Place. My name is La Roux and I’m a miniature female Red Bone Hound. I want to stress the

‘miniature’ part because I weigh just 29 to 30 pounds and am fully grown at 1-year. Despite the cruelty in my past, I

adore people, love to be rubbed, and am friendly and affectionate. I enjoy playing with toys and other dogs and would be delighted to have a cat-free home with a fenced

-in yard. I’m already spayed, vaccinated and on heart-worm prevention, so I’m ready to go! Call Paw’s Place at

910-845-PAWS and tell them you’re coming for me.

I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of Harley and Murphy.

We are sponsored in honor of all cats and kittens who have found loving homes with forever families.

Brittany

◄My name is Scrabble and I’m a 1-year-old orange and white beauty! Mahjong and Chuzzle, pictured at top left, are my kittens. We were dropped off in a cardboard box by an empty building. Luckily, we were saved. I like to be held and I enjoy being with people. I’m already spayed, vaccinated and litter-box-trained, so I hope you’ll take me home with you!

►Do you dream of being with Edward from ‘Twilight’? Well,

I’m the feline version and I’m even more handsome! I don’t

bite necks and I’m happy to be held and kissed. Just pick

me up and I’ll start purring immediately. I also skip after

toys and make the humans smile. I’m just 6-months-old and ready to belong to you.

Brittany

Hattie

◄I’m a 1-year-old girl named Bingo and I’d love to be part of your family! I was found in a box with my friend Scrabble (pictured below) and her kit-tens. I’m a very sweet and friendly lady who gets along well with other felines. I am already spayed, up to date on shots, and litterbox-trained. I’m a quiet kitty who just wants a nice, comfortable life after the troubles I’ve seen.

►I was found in a car engine with my two brothers. They

quickly found homes...now I’m all alone! All I can do is wait for

you to walk through the door. You won’t keep me waiting, will

you? My name is Sage and I’m 20-weeks-old. I’m a little

girl who is spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I love to

be held and am extremely precious. I’m also friendly,

playful and a lot of fun.

▲I’m a white/orange boy named Mahjong and this orange Tabby is my sister, Chuzzle. We are 14-week-old kittens and we want to kiss your blues away. We’ll have you smiling nonstop with our

purry playfulness and loving personalities. Adopt us together or separately and let’s get started!

Jan

◄▼We six babies were found in a box!

We were just 2-weeks-old so our foster mom fed us with a baby bottle. Because she held us so often, we’re

quite used to being touched, kissed and cuddled. Today, at 13-weeks of age, we’re ready to find homes! Jon is the boy, the rest of us are girls. We each

have unique person-alities, so visit and find the one who steals your heart!

My name is Patty and I am

the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet! I’m 3-years-old, very high-energy and super smart! I need an active family to thrive.

I’m house-trained, crate-

trained and work-ing on basic obe-dience. I need to be crated when you are not at home to avoid

mishaps until you teach me the rules of your

house. I might knock small chil-

dren over without meaning to, so no small kids please! I like to play with some male dogs that match my energy

level, but I don’t get along with other females. I’ve never been around cats. My foster mom will require personal and vet references and a home check. A homeowner with a 6-foot fenced yard and knowledge of my breed is preferred. I am already spayed and vaccinated, and my adopter must commit to continuing my monthly heartworm preventative. If you are interested in me, please call Pat Lambert at the

Columbus Humane Society at 910-640-1505 or email her at [email protected]. You can also visit

www.portcitygirl.vox.com for photos, videos and my story!

Won’t Someone Please Bring Me Home?

My name is Jasper and I’ve been home-

less for over four years. I just can’t

understand why...I’m such a

wonderful boy and have so much love to give a lucky per-

son or family. I’m 6-years-old and I look like a mix between a miniature Husky and

a Shiba Inu. I’m quite handsome! I love people and am very affectionate. I’m house-trained,

crate-trained, and am sweet and friendly to dogs my size. I’d prefer a home without cats, small dogs or ferrets be-

cause they get me a little too excited. I’m very smart and I’ve been to obedience school so I’m quite familiar with commands such as ‘sit’. My favorite outdoor activity is playing ball - I love it! I also love going for car rides and meeting new people, but so far my forever family hasn’t come along. I’d be so grateful if you would please call

the Sunburst Foundation and ask to meet me...the phone number is 910-622-0011. Once we meet, I’m sure you’ll

see what a wonderful addition I would be to your life!

I am sponsored by Hank and Grace Harrington. Thank you!

Beagle/Boston Terrier mix. I am very friendly

and sweet and I’m looking for a home for

the holidays (and every day thereafter!) For

my Christmas gift, all I want is to live inside a

warm home with a loving family. We can snuggle to-gether and keep each other cozy! I am spayed, vacci-

nated, and on heartworm prevention. Because I’m play-ful and active, it’s best that I go to a home with no small children. I’m currently with Pender Endangered Animal Rescue (P.E.A.R) in Rocky Point and I’d like to thank

the angels who rescued me as a stray from the cold and helped pay for my vet visits. P.E.A.R.’s Christmas wish,

and mine as well, is that I find a loving family who will cherish me forever. To adopt me, please contact Alice at P.E.A.R. by calling 910-675-0867 or visit the website

at www.petfinder.com/shelters/NC551.html My name is Glinda and this is a photo of me on graduation day. I

went through an 8-week class with the Pawsitive Partners Prison Pro-gram on how to be a good pet for

your family. I even lived with a dog trainer for several weeks and at-tended lots of events with her to meet people and show them how

sweet I am but to no avail; the right home has not come along for me. I am a very good girl and everyone

really seems to love me, but all say they have no room for me. I love people (especially chil-

dren.) Some men I find scary, but I warm up quickly. I play well with other dogs, cats not so well. You can fill out an adoption form at www.montyshome.org or call 910-297-

0290. You can even email us at [email protected].

My name is Sophie. As you can see, I'm just about the

cutest kitten there ever was. When I was found in the

parking lot at Animal Control, I was scared and very hun-

gry. Now, I'm in a foster home and life is pretty good. I have other cats to play with and I've even made friends with the big dog that lives

here. I'm a gray and tan kitten, about 14-weeks-old, up to date on shots and spayed. If you would like to make me a member of your family, call Roseann at 910-271-3101.

Low Cost Spay/Neuter

Do you have extra time and love to spare? Oakley is an undeniably sweet, smart, alert girl, but ex-

tremely shy in the beginning. Her special need is having a special person (or couple) to become her hero, someone with patience and the time to train her and to let her know her "job" is to have fun and be part of the family. Oakley

needs positive reinforcement, gentle guidance and TLC to help her come out of her shell. She is a Lab/Shepherd

mix, is house-trained and good with other dogs. She re-sponds well on a leash and, once she has your trust, she will listen and obey when off leash. Oakley would make a great exercise partner as she is very athletic. For more

information, call Paw’s Place at 910-845-PAWS (910-845-7297). Open daily 9-Noon.

Hello, PawPrints Magazine readers! My name is Lady Tux and I am up for adoption with Pleasure Island Paws. I am a very sweet, spayed female and I'm only 1-year-old. I was left behind with my kittens after my owners moved without me! Luckily, all of my babies

have found forever homes of their own. Now it’s my turn! I'm Feline Leukemia and FIV negative and I’m current on vaccinations. Hopefully, you will make my holiday wish come true and give me a home! If you are interested in

adopting me, call Pleasure Island Paws at 910-458-3000.

I am sponsored by the UNCW Pre-Veterinary Medical Association. Thank you!

SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS

Hi everyone, I'm Mickey, and I’m looking for my home for

Christmas. I am a 5-year-old black and silver miniature

Schnauzer male who weighs about 20 pounds. I am a hand-some fellow, and I am very well behaved. I am house-trained,

crate-trained and very friendly. I would prefer to be an only dog

so I can enjoy all of the snuggling, but if there is another mellow dog in the house, I will be fine. I will do just fine

with kids over five, and I love to go for walks and car rides. I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Have I convinced you that I should be yours?

Please go to www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org to fill out an application for adoption. If you have any questions,

please call 910-264-8300.

My name is Maizie and I’m a 1½-year-old, harlequin girl. I was rescued as a stray and I have what appears to be a couple of old breaks from

some kind of injury - maybe I was hit by a car. Whatever it was, I was not properly cared for. I was scared when I first got here but I’m blossoming into a very loving girl who is just happy to be cared for! I’m a joy to be around and I’ll

bring a smile to your face as I bounce around on three legs with a determination that is amazing. Other than the old injuries, I am in very good health and I’m good with other dogs. To adopt me, please contact the NC Chapter Mid-

Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League by calling Terri at 252-566-8934 or visiting their website at www.magdrl.org.

MID-ATLANTIC GREAT DANE RESCUE

I'm Jaeger and I’m here wait-ing for you! I am a 3-year-old Boxer boy who loves to play, play, play! I even enjoy play-

ing with other dogs. I sure would love my very own for-ever family to spend my fun times with. I would so en-

joy being right there with you being your best buddy and

friend! My foster family keeps telling me what a really sweet, smart and loving boy that I am and how good I am in the house. Please contact Carolina Boxer Rescue so we can meet and I can show off

my best Boxer smile up close. Please send an email to [email protected], call 910-799-5638, or visit

www.carolinaboxerrescue.org to adopt me.

CAROLINA BOXER RESCUE

Cheese anyone? My name is Colby and I’m a big, fluffy

Golden Retriever mix. They tell me I’m 2 to 3-years-old. I ride well in the car, am house-

trained and walk well on a leash. I LOVE body massages

and tummy rubs and will rub my eyes and make really funny sounds while you are doing it! That makes me unique and fun! My best forever home would be one without cats or

other dogs. I'm totally a people boy. Won’t you give me a chance at a forever home? I also need a foster home as I am heartworm positive and need a place to get well. If you

are interested adopting me or foster-to-adoption, call the Cape Fear Golden Retriever Rescue at 910-791-5001 or

visit www.cfgoldenrescue.com.

CAPE FEAR GOLDEN RETRIEVER RESCUE

Hi, my name is Dodger. I am about 5-years-old and my ideal

home is one where I’d have a hu-man who loved to lounge on the sofa or the bed with me. My foot had to be amputated because it

got hurt before the rescue got me and the mean people who had me let it “heal” without proper care so I was in pain. Now, I am awesome and I can run real fast on my three

legs. I am such a sweet, sweet boy and I want to be with you all

the time. If you are interested in adopting me, please send an email to [email protected], call 910-

805-0206 or visit www.nobleshepherdrescue.com for info.

NOBLE GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE

My name is Dutch and thanks for checking me out. My foster dad thinks I should have been named Herbie because I am a real LOVE BUG. I am a very

lucky, 5-year-old, Double Merle Sheltie boy, as I have vision in my right eye (and some in my

left eye) and have some hearing as well! I love nothing more than laying in your lap and

falling asleep. I get along great with my foster brothers. I am very embarrassed to have lost my Sheltie coat but I

came into rescue extremely matted. I am starting to get all fuzzy again. To make me a member of your family, please call Triangle Sheltie Rescue at 919-306-5148 or 910-558-

6963. You can also visit www.triangleshelties.com.

My name is Truffles,

I was hanging

out in the parking lot of a pizza

place. The pizza was ok, but I'm

really happy to

be a foster kitty where

I stay warm and dry and get to eat cat food. In the picture I just woke up from a nap in the chair. You can see how pretty I am. My foster mom says I'm a sweetheart, I like to follow her around. I made friends with the little dog here, so if

you have a dog, that's ok. I'm probably less than 2-years-old, up to date on shots and spayed. If you could give me

an indoor home, please call 910-271-3101 or go to petfriends-online.org for the adoption application.

I am sponsored by Pet Friends of Duplin County.

Thank you!

Has your heart melted yet? My name is Leah and I seem to have that effect on humans. If you

think I’m cute in my photo, you should see me in per-son! I’m a 14-month-old Shih Tzu who became homeless due to my owner’s poor health.

SOAR has taken me in, but I sure would like to be part of a family again. I’m

house-trained, leash-trained, spayed, vacci-

nated and on heartworm prevention. I get along

great with the cats at the shelter and I’m sure I’d do just fine with any other small dogs in my new home. I get so happy when I see people, which is why I’m smiling in my photo. I just love attention and affection! This Christmas would be perfect if I could spend it with you. Please call

SOAR at 910-457-6340 and tell them you’re on your way!

I am sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Insurance Agency in honor of Molly.
