When I got the call that Sweet Valentine had won the PawPrints Cover Model Contest, I was beyond excited! My beautiful little kitty girl was gonna be a STAR! Poor Sweetie V, however, felt otherwise. I can just imagine her thoughts: "Is there any end to what my crazy, animal-loving Mommy will put me

through? I can tolerate the rescue dogs from Monty's Home that she's always bringing

home with her to see how they react to my sister and I as unofficial 'test cats'. And all

those camera phone pics she's always taking of me and posting on Facebook. But now she wants to put me in a carrier and in the

car and says it’s a great thing? Like going to the VET? NOT! I relaxed a little when we

got to our destination and found a nice man named Dick Parrott who chatted with

Mommy while I relaxed in my carrier. But wait, what's this? More people are here, and Mommy just took me out of my carrier, and

Dick has this...this THING...with a huge bright light that keeps going off and making noise. Oh, I am scared, I'm outta here..." Well, I'm proud to say, once we fished her out from under the couch she took cover

under, Sweet Valentine relaxed and settled down for a wonderful photo shoot and her 15

minutes of fame. And all was forgiven as soon as we got home and Sweet Valentine and her kitty sister Athena got to dig into the prize basket of yummy treats and toys from

Aunt Kerry's Pet Stop! Thanks again so much for selecting Sweet Valentine as your

cover model winner, and for all you do to help homeless animals!

Howdy y’all! I’m Willie! Named for the country legend, Willie Nelson, and just like my name-sake could really play the 6 string, I

can play the strings of a heart. I’m

about a year-old Beagle/Hound mix with the sweetest temperament you could want in a

companion. Cur-rently, I’m enrolled

in the Pawsitive Partners Prison

Program at the Pender Correctional where I’m being obedience-trained and loved back to health. I’m a rescue dog, you see. I’m also updated on all shots, neutered and microchipped. If you’d like to meet me, contact Monica at

910-297-1338 or [email protected]. Visit www.montyshome.org, where you can get an application.

Joe Cool Needs a Forever Home

Hello! My name is

Joe Cool, or J.C. for short. I

was adopted from a

shelter as a kitten just six years ago this March. I was planning to live forever with my human mother, but she now has de-

mentia and is unable to care for me. Is there a loving soul reading this who would like to adopt me? I’m a wonderful boy and a joy to live with. I’m extremely loving - I enjoy being brushed and will snuggle under the covers or in a

sunny window. I’ll also be happy to purr on your lap. And, as far as accessories go, I simply have it all! (Scratching post, wicker bed, ball-n-track toy, cat condo tower, etc.) I am also neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and I get along with dogs. Since I’m declawed, I must live inside.

My mom’s family wants to make sure I go to a great home, so a vet reference and personal reference is required. Please call 910-443-2379 to find out more about me!

Hi, my name is Woody and I’m a male Wheaten Terrier mix who is approximately 3 to 5-years-old. I came to North

Carolina all the way from Sli-dell, LA. Apparently, my previ-ous owner didn’t care enough

about me, since I was so starved and underweight when I came upon the hunters in the woods. So they immediately named me and took me to a

shelter. I am current on all my vaccinations, heartworm nega-tive, on Frontline/Heartguard

Plus, microchipped, neutered and ready for my new forever home. When I arrived at the shelter, I weighed a mere 20

pounds but now I’m up to about 40 pounds. The vet says I’m doing fantastic! I should be an only dog as I am definitely an alpha to submissive dogs. I am very friendly with all humans I’ve met so far. Since I like to play a little rough, younger chil-

dren under 12 aren’t recommended. I love to give kisses when we meet. I love riding in the car, taking nice long walks and being in a place where I can run and play. I do great at bath time and the groomer says that I am a perfect model for my breed. I’ve never met a stranger and I’m very quiet and

hardly ever bark. I’ve learned some new commands, like sit, easy, shake, hi-five, down and wait and I walk great on a

leash. If you’re interested in a gorgeous, handsome, almost purebred Wheaten to be your forever companion, please email [email protected] for an application or call 919-451-4466 for more information. I am currently located in Durham

so you must be willing to drive to pick me up.

Your search for a new puppy is

over! I’m the one, I just know it! My name is Mongo (A061756) and

I’m ready to spend the rest of my life pleasing you, kissing you and thanking you for adopting me. I’m a 5-month-old

Lab/Shepherd mix girl who is a

delight from head to toe. I enjoy

playing with toys, but I also know

how to sit on command. I’m showing off my sit position in my photo. Once I’m done sitting for a cookie, I’ll get back to chasing toys, wiggling my butt in the air while I make them squeak. I really enjoy being with people

and am so happy to make new friends. I know how to stay in a fenced-in yard and I’m crate-trained. I have played well with other dogs and I get along with chil-dren, although I might be too playful for the really tiny ones. I’m just an all-around, super-fun and happy girl! For adoption information, call Brunswick County Sher-

iff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204.

I am sponsored by Terry, Patty and Trigger. Thank you!

Hello, my name is

Mia. I was wandering the streets

alone, pregnant, malnour-ished and

feeling downright

awful when the wonderful

folks of Brunswick

County Animal

Protective Services rescued me and brought me to Furever Friends Animal Rescue for treatment. Unfortu-

nately, my puppies did not survive but I received the medi-cal care that I needed to recover and am now doing

GREAT! I am a small, 3-year-old Hound and Basset mix who weighs 42 pounds and is sweet as can be. I am good with children, other dogs and cats. I LOVE to play, know basic commands and I’m crate, house and leash-trained. I am living in a foster home with several other dogs and love being part of a family. I am current on all vaccina-

tions and have a microchip. All I need now is a home and family of my own. Please call Furever Friends Animal

Rescue 910-383-2100 to adopt me.

I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

Hi, my name is Olive and I’m an 11-week-old Boxer mix puppy.

I am looking for a wonderful family to

love me. I was found in a bush all alone at 6-weeks of age and

taken to Animal Con-trol in Greensboro.

Carolina Boxer Res-cue came to my aid

and took me into their foster program. My

foster mom says that I am a very sweet,

smart and pretty girl. I have had my 2nd round of puppy shots and will be spayed soon. I am already 99% house-

trained! I love my crate and am happy to go right in it - for a treat of course, remember I am smart! I am learning a lot from my big foster brother, Leo. I have learned “sit”

and “come”. My favorite things to do are playing with toys and running after Leo. I love kids and other dogs but I have not been around cats yet. Because I am so smart, my foster mom thinks I need to go to someone who knows dogs and has the time to train me. If you

think I am the baby girl you have been looking for, please contact Carolina Boxer Rescue by visiting

www.carolinaboxerrescue.org and filling out an applica-tion. You may also email [email protected] or

call 910-799-5638 for more info.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Tammy Callipare (Millerd).

◄My name is Sydney and I am an athletic, playful, teen-

age puppy who is incredibly

friendly. I am very smart and

eager to please. I do

well with other animals and

love kids. I am homeless because my family moved out of the country with a job offer they couldn't pass up. I am a

Pointer mix who is around 1-year-old, spayed, up to date on my shots and heartworm negative. I have been very loved

and I know I can love again - if you give me a chance.

◄My name is Saphira and I am a really nice girl. I was adopted from the county shelter and was recently returned after 4-years because they moved to a new place without a fence. I was

adopted again and spent some time with some nice woman, but have been returned again due to another move. So moving people need not apply! I do

well with other dogs and kids, but am a little too curious for a

cat. I have been working on my manners with a volunteer and she says that I am an excep-

tionally smart dog who knows sit, down, stay, and I walk on a loose leash. I am house-trained, spayed, vaccinated and heartworm negative. My adoption fee at Animal Con-trol was sponsored by Edwin Keagy. Thank you Edwin for

helping me on my journey of finding my forever home.

►My name is Trina and I am a playful teenage pup. I do great with other animals and I love to

play, play, play. I would do best in a home with another lonely, bored pup. I would tire him out and we would sleep nicely all night long.

Why spend money at doggie day-care socializing your lonely dog

when you can have ME? I would do best in a fenced in yard. I am house-trained, sweet and love-

able. I am spayed, up to date on my shots and heartworm negative. Adopt me today!

►My name is Ralph and I am a 2-year-old Hound and Pointer mix. I do well with cats, dogs

and kids. I am agile and playful. I would do great with another

lonely dog who needs me to tire them out. I was a cute, adorable

puppy raised in foster care 2-years ago. I was quickly

scooped up like most puppies are. Unfortunately, around 8 to 10-months-old, I found myself

homeless again. That happens to us puppies frequently. In fact, take a look at most of the dogs in shelters and they will be around my age. Us teenagers flock into shelters as busy owners give up on us. Cooped up for months on end in

cages at shelters or in boarding facilities and you will get an energetic, smart dog who can outwit many people. That’s

me. I am now almost 2-years-old and have been in and out of Adopt-An-ANGEL my whole life. They have been the most stable force in my life and I thank them for trying to

help me. I am neutered, up to date on my shots and heart-worm negative. Will you be the forever family I have been

waiting for my whole life?

►Hi there! My name is Hope and I’m a happy girl who loves all people. I’m under 2-years of age and

am ready to make your life a lot more fun! You

might remember my photo from previous issues of PawPrints

where I mentioned that I have a heart murmur.

Well, here’s GOOD NEWS…my heart

murmur has disappeared! They say I’m in perfect

health now. I’m ready to celebrate with you!

►My name is Ladybug and I am an agile, energetic, fun girl who

thinks life is a party! If you are an active family, then I am your girl. I am very sweet, eager to please, and I am super smart. I do well with other dogs but need a slow

introduction because I am an alpha female. I have been trained to

walk on a treadmill so if you don't have time to walk me, you can walk

me on a treadmill. If you don't have one and want one, the group will throw mine in with my adoption.

I have been homeless for quite some time so I certainly have earned my chance at a forever family. I am spayed,

up to date on my shots and even heartworm negative. Look how cute my ears are in this picture! How can you resist?

Page 10: PawPrints Magazine May 2013

I'm Jer-Z and my foster dad says I look like a Jersey cow so that’s how I got my name. I’m an 8-month-old Pit Bull who is really lucky. My hu-mans took me for a car ride one day. We went to this

dead end road and they let me get out to sniff around but then drove off!! I was

trying to run after the car but couldn't keep up. Luckily for me, this nice lady saw what

happened and took me home with her. I was really

skinny when she found me, but she gave me lots of treats and food and I was back to normal in no time. We went to the vet and I was neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested heartworm negative. I enjoy playing with other dogs including little dogs who like to chase me to big dogs who like to wres-

tle. My foster mom lets me cuddle with her on the couch when she watches TV, and she takes me for long walks with the other dogs. I am really good and know to go potty out-side, I am quiet in my crate, and I do well in the car. As you can see by my picture, I love other dogs - in fact, that is me

cuddling with my foster brother, Maistro, who was in last months issue. He is still looking for a home, too! Maistro is a

10-month-old Boxer and Pit Bull mix who is house-trained, crate-trained, good with other dogs, fully vetted and LOVES water. If you want to give either of us a home, call 252-531-0744 or email [email protected]. You can see

lots of pics of me on our rescue’s Facebook page, 4 Paw LifeSaver Rescue, where I have my own album!

My name is Lucky and I'm really a

very lucky dog. My owner got sick and had to go into the

nursing home. When this hap-

pened, there was no one to take me

in (my owner’s daughter didn't like dogs very much so she would not take

me). My mom's neighbor went into

action and she called Cape Fear Rescue League

and they agreed to help. I'm about

5-years-old, vacci-nated, heartworm free, neutered and house-trained. I’m

a Whippet mix who weighs 29 pounds. I'm in a home with a Golden Retriever and I just love to play with him. In fact, I love to meet other dogs and people. My foster mom and dad have taught me some basic commands and they have spoiled me just a little - don't tell anyone but they let me sleep in their bed. If you would like to meet me, please call Pat at 910-640-1505 and she will

give you my foster parents’ information. I'll be waiting to meet you so go on and call today!

I am sponsored by NCBeachBargains.com. Thanks!

I’m so very sweet. Let’s go home!

▲I just love to be petted! Why is a sweet girl like me all alone in the world? My name is Snowball (A063544) and

I’m a mostly white girl with a few Tabby markings. I’m quite pretty! At just 2-years-old I was found as a stray. I love attention, though. Adopt me and I’ll be your best friend!

◄Precious Puppy Alert! Hello there, my name is Mojo (A063660) and you’ve caught me playing with two of my favorite things: toys! I just love them and I love people, too. In fact, I’m quite a delightful and loveable boy. I have webbed feet so I’d be a perfect beach companion, boat buddy or kiddie pool partner! I’m just 4-months-old and can sit on command. I’m a kisser and a cuddler, too!

◄Adopt a Fun Family Dog right here! My name is Sammy (A063000) and I’m a 1-year-old Lab/Shepherd boy with a fantastic personality. I’m friendly, happy, social and will sit on command for treats. My friends at the shelter made sure I was neutered so I’m ready to go! Let’s start our new life soon.

►I’m a lovebug who will make you so very happy!

Riley (A062940) is my name and I’ll lay my head

in your lap so sweetly it will melt your heart. I’m a

1-year-old boy who was found as a stray. Some-one once taught me how

more than to be your boy!

►You’re gonna love

▲Looking for a true sweetheart? I’m your girl! My name is Annie and I’m a 1-year-old feline with stunning green

eyes. I have a loving personality and I enjoy playing with other kitties. I’m also spayed, up to date on shots and

litterbox-trained. Adopt me and let’s cuddle up together!

◄Hi there! My name is Estella and I’m a very sweet 2-year-old girl who craves human

companionship. I am the only cat you’ll ever need, so I’d prefer it if there were no other kitties in the house

with me. I am a real lover and I enjoy nothing more

than being held and petted. I will ‘talk’ to you and let you

know when I want some quality time together (which

is quite often!) My patch Tabby coat is beautiful and soft, just perfect for petting when we are snuggling together.

▲Looking for a very sweet boy who will love you with all his heart? That’s me, Clyde! I’m a 10-month-old orange

and white Tabby who likes to be petted gently. I’m an extremely handsome fellow who would love to be yours!

Are you a fan of Siamese cats? My name is Lika and I’m a young girl, just 2-years-old, and I am most definitely a Siamese mix. Just take a look at my beautiful coloring. I’m a very ladylike feline, which means that I’m quiet and re-served. I do have a very sweet personality and I enjoy being with people. I’d prefer to be the only cat in the house-hold, though. I am already spayed, vaccinated and litter-box-trained. Let’s go home!

◄They’ve named me Prada, so you

know I am the perfect acces-sory, I mean,

addition, to your home! I’m a

young girl, just 9-months-old,

and I’m a bit shy, but very sweet. I get along well with other cats and am already

spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I’d love to be your new best friend. Won’t you take me home with you?

◄Just look at me! Don’t you think I could be a supermodel? I think I should be on the cover of Catmopolitan or GlamPurr Magazine. I have a supermodel name, too - it’s Lilliana. My eyes are green and lined with black so I’m quite stunning. I’m a 1-year-old girl who is a bit shy when you first meet me, but I warm up quickly and my sweet personality is evident for all to see. I get along with other cats and play nicely with them when we’re in the same room to-gether. I am up to date on my vaccines, litterbox-trained and spayed. Wouldn’t you love to adopt a beauty like me?

and ready to go to my new home. I am up to date on all my shots and I am even house-trained. I walk great on a leash and do well with other dogs, but some big dogs kind of scare me. I don't mind cats at all. If you are looking for a cuddler your search has ended! I am very easy-going

and love to just hang out. Come and hang out with me at SOAR and get to know me. Call 910-457-6340. They can answer all your questions. I look forward to meeting you!

Cat Tails

◄Looking for an indoor/outdoor cat? Then come

get me, Khavi, a gor-geous 3-year-old, seal-point Siamese mix fe-male. Like all the Sia-

mese in the world, I want everything on my terms, which means attention

according to my agenda. If you’ve shared your

home with other Siamese cats, you know what I am

like. I do enjoy the outdoors and I so very much want you to come check me out.

►I’m named after one of the most beautiful

and memorable summer flow-ers, Morning

Glory, but they call me Glory for short. I am a 5-year-old,

light gray, long-haired female. If you want a

very sweet kitty who will sit qui-

etly with you and watch the flowers grow, then I am the cat for you. I like the kind of peace and quiet you find in your garden. Bring me home

and we can “grow” together.

◄It’s the luck of the Irish for me! I came to Cat Tails on St. Patrick’s Day so what were they

going to name me, Nancy? A good

Irish girl deserves a good Irish name, so Colleen it is. I am Irish, so of course

I’m a redhead. But I’m not just any

redhead, I am very unique because I

am an orange Tabby female and we’re pretty rare. At only 6-months-old, I am very much a kitten and would like to spend my teenage

year with my new family. So please, come see me.

◄Every month one of us sweet black kitties get our picture in the

magazine but are rarely adopted, just

because we’re black. Nothing flashy about

us, but we are usually the sweetest cats

around. When you meet me, you’ll see I’m the sweetest,

friendliest cat on this page. My name is

Nibs and I showed up last year as a 2-year-

old with kittens in tow. They’re adopted and now I should be as well. Don’t make me wait another year.

►You do the Hokie, pokie and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about! Now they

really didn’t name me after that song, at

least I hope not. It’s kind of a silly song.

I am a beautiful 8-month-old, orange Tabby. Unlike my

friend Colleen who is pictured on this page, I am very

timid. Sometimes I see my own shadow and get scared! But once you hold me I am a purring machine! So if you

want a little challenge, but one that will be well worth it, yup, you guessed it, come get me!

◄They named me after the great aviator Amelia

Earhart, because I prefer to be alone. I can get used to maybe one or two

other cats, but really I am too

aloof and like to fly solo. I’m a 2-year-old female who’s a brown Tabby and

Manx mix. Yup, no tail! And that’s not good when you’re

trying to fly! Bring me home and we’ll soar to new heights.

My name is Pogo and I am a real doll. I am around 30 pounds which is the per-fect size for an apartment or condo. I am really good

with other animals and I am super friendly to peo-ple. I have a little energy so a good romp in a dog

park or a nice walk will do me wonders. I am already spayed, I’m up to date on

my vaccinations, I’m heart-worm negative and I’m

ready to jump into the arms of my forever family. If you would like to know more information about me or the adoption process, please call Adopt-An-ANGEL today at 910-392-0557. You may also visit us online

My name is Miley and I’m an adorable little Dachshund and Lab mix. Interesting combi-

pounds. I am full of personal-ity and love. I do well with other dogs outside of my

home, but would prefer to be the only dog if possible. I get attached to my people

and don't really want to share them with anyone. I am house-trained, super friendly and very trainable since I respond well to correction. I am spayed, up to date on my shots and heartworm negative. here. Oh yes, I love people, too! Do yourself a favor and come get your new pal! For driving di-rections, call Pender County Humane Society at

It makes everyone smile! I’m a Boxer mix boy, just 4-years-old,

Feature Story

PawPrints Magazine’s 11th Annual Cover Model Search

The Judges’ Decisions Are In: Winning Cover Cat and Runners-Up

Winning Cover Cat “Sweet Valentine”

Submitted by: Michele Quinlan

Hello! I'm nominating our wonderful little kitty girl "Sweet Valentine" to be a PawPrints cover model. I could say we rescued her, but I believe she actually chose us, too. We had just moved into a new apartment in June of 2010 and were returning from church one Sunday, when the cut-est little stray cat came strolling right up to us, tail held high and wagging and meowing away as if to say "Hello!" My son Jarrett, who was 4 at the time, fell in love at first sight and declared, "She will join our family, and we will call her Sweet Valentine, because she is sweet and we love her and she loves us." Well, that was that, she officially joined our family within a few days and has been brighten-ing our lives ever since. As a self-proclaimed "crazy cat lady" who has had cats my entire life, I can absolutely say that "Sweetie V" is the most affectionate, friendly and lov-ing cat I have ever had, and she brings a smile to the face of everyone who meets her. Because she lives up to her name as a total sweetheart, because she is absolutely beautiful in my humble opinion, and because she has brought love and joy to my children and I, I nominate Sweet Valentine to be the rescued cat cover model.

1st Runner-Up

“Pandora & Wiz” Submitted by: Erica Shaben

I found both of these adorable kittens at about one month old running around a trailer park with a lot of traffic. They were starving and had no water source. Everyday I went to check on them both and brought them food or water. I decided to take them both in. Adopting these kittens was one of the greatest moments of my life.

They have both impacted me in ways I can't even begin to describe. My kittens, Pandora and Wiz, more than deserve to be on PawPrints Magazine. Everyday I come home they are always at the door waiting for me so they can come cuddle and lay with me. They are both so happy to have each other and to be able to grow up together like they did when they were feral. They treat me as if I'm their real mother and I could-n't ask for more. I can't imagine how my life would be without my two babies - they are the world to me. They could never be replaced and I am forever grateful to be blessed with them both.

2nd Runner-Up

“Katie” Submitted by: Nancy and Cecil Bradshaw

I rescued Katie, a nine-month-old cat from Pender County Animal Shelter in Bur-gaw, ten years ago. At the time, we had just lost the “love of our life”, our 18-year-old beautiful, black, green-

eyed cat, to diabetes. We were devastated! Yes, we looked at some beautiful $600 Ragdoll kittens. Too much! We found out a Ragdoll kitten was available at the shelter. Our dirty, thin, blue-eyed cat with ear mites, who we thought was a Ragdoll, turned out to be a Snowshoe Siamese now tipping 14 pounds. The in-door cat enjoys a stroll in her stroller on sunny days. Last fall, Katie was blessed during the ‘Blessing of the Animals’ at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Burgaw. Yes, she is special...and we love her!

Hi! I'm Raylene and I’m

1½-years-old. Would you be-lieve I'm in the

market for a new best friend? My

forever home didn't turn out to

be so forever after all. But it was through no doing of my own - check the tran-

script - Basset's honor! I don't like to throw around the word 'amazing' very often, but that is about the best word to de-scribe me. My previous home just decided they could no longer care for me but I'm a treat jar half full kinda gal and ready for the search to begin! I'm a total sweetheart and

never met a stranger. I love playing with other dogs when I go to daycare with my foster mom and I love kids! And my foster mom is in love with me (completely unsolicited testi-mony!). Did I mention that I REALLY love to play? I enjoy other dogs, kids, squeaky toys, you name it... but I'm also

serious about my nap time. I am crate-trained, I know how to sit on command, and I’m continuing my education by

working on other obedience skills. I just want a forever for-ever home this time. Could you be the one? Let's schedule my next belly rub at your house. Ask for me - Raylene! To

make me a member of your family, please call 919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com. Also, we are

extremely short on foster homes! If you have ever thought about fostering, please contact CBHR for more details.

I am sponsored in appreciation of everyone who has

rescued a homeless animal.

LAST CHANCE!! Hurry, My Time Is

Running Out!! I’m a loving girl named Cocoa (A004048) and I’ve been waiting for a

family at Animal Control since June 25, 2012. Almost a year ago!

That’s a long time to wait and there just isn’t enough room for every-one. So many dogs are

arriving at the shelter and they all need a

place to stay. Please...take at look at my sweet and happy

face. I was so excited to be out of my kennel for a photo. Just think how grateful I’ll be if you actually take me home! I’m a Lab mix girl, just 2 to 3-years-old. I once had a family, but they moved away and couldn’t take me with them. I’m an excellent compan-

ion and would make some other person or family very happy. Won’t someone please visit me? You just might

fall in love! Please call 910-259-1484 or email [email protected] for directions or more info.

It’ll be a day to celebrate when I see you!

I am sponsored in honor of Kathleen M. Langone.

►What the heck? I’ve been here for over a

month waiting for someone to adopt me! I’m Gizmo (A285817) and I was surrendered by my owner because

he could no longer afford me. I’m pretty sad and upset about being homeless. It’s such a huge adjust-ment going from a

home environment to a cage but I understand this is what I must do in order to have the chance to meet you. I love kitty treats, getting head and chin scratches, making biscuits, and

will nuzzle into your hand for love. I’m good with kids and other animals, I’m neutered and I’m current on vaccinations.

Don’t let me sit here for another day - come save me!

◄Wow, I’m such a lucky girl. I was found as a stray near Star-

way Flea Market on Carolina Beach Road. Thankfully,

someone scooped me up and brought me to safety here at the shelter. My owner never

came for me so I’m hoping you will stop by my kennel and

adopt me. My name is Pepper (A286892) and I’m 2-years-old. They tell me that I’m a Basset Hound and Beagle mix but my coat is brindle, so who knows

what breeds I am for sure. One thing is certain though, I’m a terrific dog. No kidding.

I’m going to make an awesome family member in any loving home. I’m happy, friendly, social and I’m content sitting by

your feet. I know how to sit on command and am constantly wagging my tail. I’ve already been fixed and vaccinated so

I’m ready to go home with you today!

◄Meow, my name is Lola (A286825) and I’m a love bug. If you are

looking for a feline friend who isn’t into

giving or receiving at-tention and love - you should probably stop

reading my bio now. I am ALL about love. I

love feeling loved and I love making you feel

loved. I find pure bliss in either scenario. My

favorite thing in the world is having my belly rubbed. I’ll even make air biscuits while getting one. I’m just 2-years-old and homeless through no fault of my own. I’ve already been spayed and vaccinated and I’m good with kids and

other animals. I’m looking for a forever home where I can be kept as an inside only kitty. I’m not exaggerating when

I say that I’m one of the most affectionate cats you will ever meet. Come on out to the shelter and I’ll show you!

◄You should probably al-ready be in the car on your way to adopt me...I’m just that amazing. My name is Josie (A285895) and I look like a Boston Terrier who weighs 40 to 45 pounds. I’m truly a wonderful dog who knows how to sit on com-mand. I love treats, I’m good on a leash, I enjoy attention, I’m loyal and loving and I love snuggling and getting belly rubs. I’m playful yet easy-going and laid back. Please let me love you!

►My name is Henry (A285714) and I’m a

5-month-old boy who was put in a box and dumped at

a local business. I love toys, I’m sweet and playful, and I love being touched. I

can be a little shy when you first meet me, but I am

completely overwhelmed being here at the shelter. But have no fear, I really enjoy being held and will snuggle up next to you.

Please come save me and make me your baby.

◄I was found as a stray but now that I’m safely here at the shelter, I am focused on finding a for-ever home. My name is Toby (A285967) and I’m a 1-year-old Plott Hound mix who has been neu-tered and vaccinated. I’m a happy and fun guy who loves treats and adventure. I like being goofy and feeling like part of a family. Squeaky toys, plush toys, any toys...they’re all great to me. Adopt me!

I’m about 3-years-old. I came to Pender

after I realized that I like all the tender

loving care I’m getting here, I have decided to calm down and be friendly to everyone. I am spayed and cur-rent on vaccinations. I am a very strong gal and they are working

on getting me used to walking on a leash. I do love my time outdoors and would like to have a fenced yard so I can poke around to my heart's content. Would you like to meet me?

▲A beauty like me should be laying on pillows in your home, not at a shelter! My name is Eve and I’m a

perfectly sweet girl, just 1-year-old. I have medium-length fur and I love to be held and snuggled. My

former family had me on flea prevention so I am flea-free! I get along great with dogs and children and

once lived happily with a 7-year-old child. I’m not too fond of other cats, though, so I’ll need to be the only feline at home. I’m healthy, happy and ready to go!

◄I’m one of those RARE female

orange Tabbies and my name is

Dash. I sure would love to be your new girl! I’m great with

kids and other cats. I’m even friendly to

dogs! As for my health, I’m already

spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I’m used to living inside-only and am 4-years-old. Come meet me!

I love to be rubbed and

you’re doing it. I am already neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained and I’m getting along well with the other

◄I’m Marnie and I am Jazzy and Diesel’s sister.

(They’re pictured on this page.) I’m a female

Shepherd/Lab mix who was born in January 2013. Even though I am shy, I am a happy puppy who loves

to play with other dogs. As you can see, I like being in your lap. I’ll be 60 pounds or so when grown, so you’ll have to decide then if I’m too big for your lap. I would do well in a home with a well-adjusted, medium-size dog. A fenced-in

yard for us to play in together would be fun!

◄Jazzy’s the name. Don’t you just love my ears! I am a delightful,

outgoing and good-natured Shepherd/Lab mix girl.

My littermates and I were found in the woods and

brought to Paw’s Place. I was probably born in late January. I’ve had all my

puppy shots and am spayed. I’m currently about 18 pounds, but I

could be between 60 and 70 pounds when fully

grown. I’m a typical puppy who loves to play. A fenced-in yard and toys to play with

would be the perfect environment for me. Stop by!

▲Attention prospective puppy lovers! I’m here to announce that I’m the dog for you and Dieter (pronounced Deeter) is my name! I’m a purebred Dachshund and I have an extremely loving personality. Even though I’m small, I have a huge personality. I prefer to say I’m fun-sized! I

know the rules of the house, am a little over a year old and heartworm negative. I’m looking for a loving family and a forever home. Take a chance on me, you won’t regret it!

▲My name is Diesel and I am the smallest of the litter and the brother of Marnie and Jazzy. They’re pictured on this page, too. I’m the only boy in the family. I look more Shepherd than Lab. I tend to be a little shy and Paw’s Place thinks I would do well in a home with a

well-adjusted medium size dog. Of course, it would be great if my new family had a fenced-in yard. Then we

could all play together and have lots of fun.

◄In 2008 we were found at the gates of Paw’s Place. Since then it’s just been us, Freddie and Mac, the two amigos. Like cheese and

macaroni, we belong together. We’ve never been apart and we’d love to be adopted together. Adoption days are our favorite

days, though sometimes we get a little shy. We aren’t so familiar with things (sirens and motorcycles, for example) and we get a little scared. We’re great dogs, completely

healthy, and we’d love to find a home of our own.

◄Hi everybody – I’m Shelby. I am 6-years-old and I came to Paw’s Place this past Christmas. I’m a female Hound mix, up to date on all my shots, and I weigh about 65 pounds. I miss having a home of my own. I’m a great cuddle buddy, I enjoy snoozing by your feet, and going on walks. (I’m great on a leash!) It would be so nice if an older couple or someone who spends a lot of time at home would adopt me.

Hello again! We are Diego and Denim and we are still

searching for our forever homes. Sadly, when we two male mini-Schnauzers came to Schnauzer

Rescue of the Carolinas, we were in horrible shape. We were heart-worm positive, had broken teeth, ear and eye infections, and an infestation of other worms. We

are now getting the care we need and are ready to find loving homes. We have both been

sweet boys with all people but Denim can be a bit “iffy” with other dogs. I, Diego, am laid-back and

need a laid-back home. I’m a little shy at first but I come around

quickly with a little sweet talk or a tasty treat. I spent my life in a

cage so I have some atrophy in my back legs but this is improving

with my leisurely walks and will continue to improve with time. I can live with other dogs but they

must not be too rowdy or alpha. We do not need to be adopted together so if you would like to give one of us a

fresh start on life, please fill out an application at www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org and view other adoptable pets. To have an application mailed or faxed,

please call 781-799-4272. If you would like to donate to our care (tax deductible), please call Pleasure Island Animal

Hospital and make a donation to the Schnauzer Rescue of the Carolinas THE TWINS FUND.

My name is Maistro and I am a 10-month-old Pit Bull and Boxer mix. I was found by a really nice lady after

someone left me on a dead end road. I was really lucky because she is a foster for this great rescue that has taken such good care

of me. I was really skinny when they

found me but after lots of love and care, I am

a very handsome man. I’ve even

learned manners! They taught me to go potty outside, how to walk on a

leash, and I know how to sit pretty for treats and will take them gently from your hand. They took me to the vet

where I was vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. I even get a pill every month so I don't get heartworms. I

would really like a home with another dog to play with and a fenced in yard so I can run and get all my energy out. If you can give me the home of my dreams, contact my res-cue at 252-531-0744 or [email protected].

You can see more pictures of me on our Facebook page, 4 Paw LifeSaver Rescue.

◄Can you give my sad story a happy ending? You see, I was once

part of a family, but I’ve somehow gotten

separated from them and now need a new person or family to rescue me! I was

found as a stray and I have a microchip. It was traced to Texas,

but my owners apparently moved

without updating their info. At least it was discovered that my name is Roxanne

(A007850). I appear to be spayed, and I have

the sweet, social personality of a well-loved companion. Please don’t let my story end here! I’m good with kids, other

dogs and weigh just 40 to 50 pounds. I’m a great girl!

►Hello! My name is Freckles (A007458) and

I’m a very beautiful Walker Hound girl who

arrived at the shelter on March 11. I would dearly

love to find myself in a home very soon! I get

along just fine with other dogs and I enjoy all the

people I have met. Cats get my sniffer going and I bark at them, so a feline-free home would be best.

Come meet me today! ►I’m an obedient girl who has no trouble listening to my hu-

mans! Ask me to sit for a treat and I’ll happily do it. My

name is Cinnamon (A007300) and I’m a 1½-year-old German Shepherd mix. I take cookies so nice from

your hand, I don’t even touch your fin-gers! I have a sweet and loving personality and I’ve been waiting

for a family since February 19. Why have I been passed over? Adopt me and we’ll have lots of fun this summer!

►I’m a small, Rottie mix girl who would love to lay at

your feet like this! My name is Alexandra

(A007176) and I was found as a stray on February 10. Spring has come and soon

it will be summer! When can I go home with you?

I’m a very loyal and protective girl who walks

well on a leash. I would do well in an adult-only home

or one with teenagers. They tell me I’m just 1 to 2-years-old. Let’s go, okay?

◄I love getting baths and I love going for walks! So why is a family-friendly boy like me sitting in a shelter? My name is Murphy (A007607) and I’m quite a favorite around here for my fun and friendly personality and my laid-back attitude towards life. I’m just 2-years-old and even though I’m a St. Bernard mix, I think I’m a lap dog! I’m really not that big. Come see for yourself!

►I’m a soft-hearted sweetheart who is look-ing for love. My name is Tank (A007673) and I

will bury my head in your lap, seeking affection. I was once part of a family but they were unable to keep me. I’m good with people, including chil-

dren, but since I’m a big boy I would probably be

best suited for older kids. They tell me I’m around 3-years-old and I walk well on a leash. Have you been looking for a

Terrier mix like me? I’m ready for family life again.

My name is Daisy and what a gentle sweetheart I am...all 25 pounds of me!! My tail wags so hard when

I greet other animals or people that I nearly knock myself over. I am spayed, fully up to date on all vac-cinations and heartworm negative. I am one lucky dog to be selected into a

new program by Miss Julie, the owner of Animal House Grooming, Board-ing and Daycare in Jack-

sonville. She has decided to start a program in which a dog would be selected

from our shelter, taken into foster by Miss Wanda

(who is a manager at Ani-mal House where I will be

groomed), go to obedience school and then have the op-portunity to play with all the other doggies there until I find my forever home. Naturally you can come and play with

me at Animal House by emailing OCPAW at [email protected] to set up an appointment. Please call

OCPAW at 484-883-3552 for more info.

I’m a lovely girl named Mina (A063100) and

I’m ready to find myself in a new home! I

arrived at the shelter with my two precious

puppies and they were quickly adopted. I hope someone will soon be arriving for me. I’m

sure to make your life much happier and much more fun! I’m a playful, happy girl who enjoys all the new people I

meet. I will sit right next to you for head and

shoulder rubs - they’re the best! I’m a 2-year-old brindle Plott Hound who once had a home, but my own-ers could no longer afford to keep me. Now’s your chance to bring a best friend into your life - ME! For driving direc-tions or more information, please call Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204.

◄Hi there, friends! My name is Bo and I will make someone a great family pet as I am a typical Lab. We’re perfect for families, you know! I was found as a stray and am about 8-years-old. I weigh in at 75 pounds but I am very well-behaved and will sit on command. That’s what I’m doing in my photo! I am crate-trained and will also give you my paw if asked. I hope you’ll come meet me at the shelter. You’ll fall in love!

►I’m Squeaky, a little black kitten with just the tiniest bit of white on my chest. I was fending for

myself when I was found. I wasn’t too sure about my new surroundings at first, but now I am fitting in just

fine! I love to play with the toys they have here, and

I’ve made friends with the other kittens. I also appre-

ciate all the kisses and hugs from humans. I’m

purring all the time! Wow, just think how happy I’ll be

when I get a home of my very own. Adopt me!

►I’m a small Beagle mix named Juliet

who was found along Route 210. I wasn’t alone until my little companion was hit by a car. Sady, he didn’t make it, but I

was delivered safely to the shelter. I’m a lovely girl, just 20 pounds, with

medium-length fur. I’m very friendly and porbably less than a

year old. I love everyone I meet and

enjoy hugs and kisses. I’m already spayed and vaccinated. Give me a

happy home, please, I deserve it!

◄My name is Diamond and I’m a real gem! At just 4-

months-old, I’m a half-Beagle, half-Miniature Pinscher girl with the sweetest personality.

I simply love everyone! Come visit me at the shelter and you’ll see what I mean - I greet

people (strangers and friends alike) with a

happy, smiling expres-sion and a wagging tail. I love to be picked up and cuddled, too. I’m already spayed and

ready to go home. Come pick me, I’m a treasure! ►Hello, I’m Prissy!

I’m a lovely taupe-colored Terrier mix,

about 25 pounds and 1-year-old. I get

along great with chil-dren and other dogs. I have a lot of energy

so a fenced yard where I could have

room to run would be fantastic! I could pro-

vide a young family with so much fun and so much love! Won’t

you please visit me in person? I’m a great

girl - you’ll see!

▲►We are two kitten brothers named Mikey and Spunky! I’m Mikey, on the left. Spunky has cool black and white fur. We’ve

thrived in foster care since we were only 4-weeks-old. Now we’re 8-weeks-old, litterbox-trained and eating our crunchy food with gusto. Spunky is a playful fellow and I’m a sweet-

heart. Wouldn’t you love to take one of us home?

ing on the SOAR grounds and one of the wonderful volun-teers kindly took me

in and gave me a place at SOAR. I am an Australian Cattle dog who is

only 7-months-old. I have a spunky per-sonality and playing is my favorite thing to do. I am a fast

runner and get along great with

other dogs. I have two brown eyes with just a speck of blue in my left one, which makes me very unique. Come visit me at SOAR and I will be sure to melt your heart. If

you need directions, or more information, call my friends at 910-457-6340. I can’t wait to meet you!

◄I am a 2-year-old domestic short hair darling girl! My name is Sue and I have a sister, Betty, who looks almost identical to me. She is pictured below. We came to SOAR because we were abandoned at a vet's office. I like to play, but I try not to get into too much mis-chief. I do not mind other animals. Come meet my sister and I at SOAR, please!

◄Hello, hello, hello! My name is Willow. I get very

excited when I see new faces. When I am excited, I kind of scoot and scurry about in the cutest way possible. They believe

that I am a Walker Hound mix. I am only 6-months-old, so I still have some growing to do. But I am learning some new tricks and working on my leash etiquette. I came from

Brunswick County Animal Services and was picked

out by SOAR, who couldn't resist my irresistible face. I hope you can’t resist me either!

►My name is Scratch and I am a Golden

Chow mix. I am an

interesting character and some folks say I resemble a lion. I have the

most beautiful, mesmerizing eyes you will ever see on a dog. I am about 2-years-old and a little shy at first, but give

me some time to get to know you and we will be fur-ever friends. I love to run and play and would do best in a

fenced-in backyard. Come on over and get to know me!

◄My name is Betty and I have a beautiful coat of fur.

I have grey tabby markings, but with some orange tooI! I am the beautiful

sister of Sue, who is pictured at the top of this page. The way you can tell us apart is that I have more

orange than my sib-ling. I love to play as well, but I am

more mellow. My favorite pastime is basking in the sunshine. I am up to date on all my vaccinations and

spayed. Visit us and see if you can tell us apart.

◄My name is Lily. I am a Dachshund

mix. I am a shy little girl at first, but I even-tually come out of my shell and show you

my shining personal-ity. I love to chase and run. I am as

quick as lightning. I came from Brunswick County Animal Ser-

vices and now I currently reside at

SOAR. I love to cud-dle and sleep in the

bed, but only if you let me. I know I will

add a little light to your life, just come meet me!

▲I am a beautiful orange tabby girl named Alice. As you may see in my picture, I am missing one of my front legs. I lost the leg when I was a kitten. But don't feel bad for me because I get around perfectly fine on my three legs. I am

4-years-old and just looking to be loved. I am mellow as can be and will make a perfect companion. Take me home!

cayed teeth) I have become a human’s “best friend”! I’m a docile, gentle boy

who gets along well with other dogs,

love to run and play in the yard and I’m

FleaMaxx breaks the flea life cycle

ONE full year, Guaranteed! HULA

enjoys a flea-free home environment.

"Woo-hoo! There are NO Fleas on me!"

Madison and Hula

Hello up there! I’m Andy, a 1½-year-old boy who is possibly a

mix of Min Pin and Chihuahua. My

weight is about 25 pounds and I have the

cutest underbite. I was rescued from the shelter when my time

was up. Unfortu-nately, due to lack of prior medical care,

including vaccines, I contracted a conta-

gious respiratory infec-tion and had a rocky

road back to recovery. I seem to do well with

docile female dogs and I love my people.

During my hospital stay, I became very attached to the staff and enjoyed spending time in their laps, resting my head on their shoulder. My nickname should be Scrappy because that does describe me. I would do well in an adult house-hold and I am house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. I will make a wonderful companion to a committed household! For adop-

tion information, please email Sunburst Foundation at [email protected] or call 910-622-0011.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Hank Harrington.

Hi, my name is Holly! I was res-cued on

Christmas Eve more

than a year ago from the highway. The vet

thinks that I was

born in the fall of 2009. I’m a Hound mix who

weighs about 50 pounds and I’ve been spayed. I’m also up to date on all of my shots and am heartworm negative. You can see that I am special because I have one blue eye and one brown eye. I like to be in charge of all the toys, food,

treats - you name it. I’m learning to walk nicely on a leash. A quiet home where someone is willing to take the time to

work with me would be wonderful. I can frighten very easily so a good fenced-in yard would be ideal for me. I’d like to be able to show you how much I would appreciate having someone that really cares about me. Please give me a

chance and come visit me at Paw’s Place. If you need di-rections, give Paw’s Place a call at 910-845-7297.

I am sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Agency in

memory of Dingo.

Attention White Shepherd Lovers! Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue needs your help! They are a national 501c3 rescue founded in 1999 and are looking for more foster homes in the Wilmington and sur-rounding areas. They often pull White Ger-man Shepherds from the local shelters, but have to transport them to other states as there are very few foster homes located in Southeastern NC. For info about foster requirements or other volunteer opportunities, visit www.echodogs.org or email [email protected].

Welcome Cape Fear Parrot Club! The Cape Fear Parrot Club is dedicated to the education of the members and the community on the care of compan-ion birds. This goal is accomplished through guest speak-ers, informational tools, and the sharing of information among the members. The members meet monthly and also participate in local events. Members are also available for "bird" sitting. The group does not have "dues", so anyone can attend the meetings! The group also assists with the re-homing of local parrots in our community. SAMPSON COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER R.A.C.E. (Rescue Animals Community Effort)

Hello, my name is Toby and I am an English Setter. I have a very sweet

disposition and would love to be-come a part of your family. I am a 1-year-old, energetic boy. I love to run

and play with other dogs so if you would take me to the dog park or jog

with me that would be great. I am house-trained, pretty good on a

leash and am working on my train-ing. I learned to sit in one afternoon so I am pretty smart. I am heartworm positive but R.A.C.E. will send me home with

a years worth of heartworm prevention so we can do the slow treatment to make me heartworm free. Please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 if you’d like to adopt me. You

ONSLOW COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER

I’m Prince Chas (A065468) and I hope you’ll stop by my kennel to say hello. Once you see me, you’ll want to go up to the front

desk and let them know my kennel number. That way they can bring me out to

visit with you so we can get to know each other first-

hand. You can’t tell much from a distance so we need to be close and I can visit with you. Then you will see what a terrific little guy I am. I’m so handsome, I’m very friendly and I’m looking for a forever family who needs a dog like me to add to their home. So saunter on up to the front

desk at Onslow County Animal Shelter and ask for me so I can dazzle you with my many charms! To adopt or for

more information about us, please call 910-455-0182. The shelter is located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville.

4 PAW LIFESAVER RESCUE

My name is Luxi and I’m a 1½-year-old Pit Bull. I used to live on a chain and my humans stopped feeding me so I

got really skinny. Fortunately, I’m now in a foster home where life has been awesome and food is plentiful. I get lots of love, I have other dogs to play with, and there are even cats here. I learned all the rules quickly, I know how to go potty outside, and I know

basic commands. I have been spayed, microchipped and vaccinated and I even take heartworm prevention. Now all I need is a forever home. If you want to give me a loving home, contact my rescue at 252-531-

0744 or email [email protected]. If you would like to see more pics of me, go to our Facebook page, 4 Paw LifeSaver Rescue, where I have my own album!

Hi, my name is Lola, and I want to be a house dog! I’m a small girl, under 20 pounds, and they tell me

I’m a Corgi/Lab mix. I have a Corgi body and an ador-able Lab face. I’m a very sweet girl, just 1-year-old, and I hope to soon be cud-dling with my new family at home. Why am I at Animal

Control? Please adopt me! There are too many animals arriving at the shelter and not enough room for us all. Won’t

you come meet me in person? Please call Sampson County Animal Shelter at 910-592-8493 for adoption infor-

mation and tell them you saw me in PawPrints!

CAPE FEAR RESCUE LEAGUE

I’m Puff-n-Stuff and I'm ap-proximately 12-months-old. I’m a Boxer mix who is neutered, up to date on all shots, heart-

worm negative and on monthly heartworm and flea meds. I’m also crate-trained, I love to take walks and I enjoy riding in the car. I'm in a foster home in

Wilmington and around children all day but I really need to go

into a home with older children. I get along with all my fos-ter doggies but don't care too much for the cats, so maybe

no cats in my new home. If you are looking for a buddy who you can take to the beach this summer or on runs or

just to hang out - then I'm the dog for you! If you would like to meet me, please contact Pat at 910-640-1505.

Hello, my name is Myrtle and I am a 6-year-old Wire-hair Dachshund girl. I was relinquished by my owner because they could not care for me when I was

pregnant. I had a beautiful baby girl who has been adopted so now it is my

turn to find a home. I am healthy, spayed, current on all vaccinations and have a microchip. My foster mom said I

am the ‘perfect girl’ who plays with children, other dogs and a cat. I am house-trained and bark when I have to go out-

side to potty. I am happy all the time and love being around people. Nothing bad to say about me, like my foster mom said, I’m perfect! Please call 910-383-2100 to adopt me.

ONSLOW PARTNERS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE

I am just 4-months-old, weigh about 20 pounds and live on a working farm with my mom (a Border Col-lie) and dad (a Dachshund). I was raised with much love and affec-

the certificate and the adoption application. Please call OCPAW at 484-883-3552 for more information.

OPERATION TOPCAT

My name is Lady and I’m a wonderful orange and white female who

was found behind a local Food Lion. I was preg-nant with my second

litter. I was a great mom and took good care of my babies. They have

all now been adopted so it’s time for me to get a safe, for-ever, loving home. I like to play and love climbing the cat

tree. You can pet me and I don’t mind being held. I’m approximately 2-years-old. I may be just a bit shy until we get to know each other but I very much deserve a chance. Could it be with you? If not, do you know someone looking for a sweet girl to love? Contact [email protected] to find

out where to meet me or call 910-200-0612.

I am not even 1-year-old yet, and of course I have been spayed and am up to date on my vaccinations. I am ready to make your life purrrrrfect! My name is Laurel and I’m about 5-years-old.

I’ve been at Paw’s Place for a little over a year and a half after I was rescued from a

hoarding house in Pen-der County. I’m a girl with trust issues - but

then that shouldn’t surprise you. I get a

little frightened when I first meet people, but I’m really learning to

trust. When I first arrived at Paw’s Place I was diagnosed with heartworms, but I was treated and now I am negative and doing just great! I’d be great in a house with another

small dog. I really need someone to show me the ropes so I don’t end up in the dog house (pun intended). I’m a great

dog looking for a great family. Will you be mine? Come visit me at Paw’s Place - they are open every day from 9-

Noon. Or you can find out more information about adoption procedures on our website - www.pawsplace.org. You can

also call my friends at 910-845-7297.

I am sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Agency in memory of Molly.

Hello everybody, I’m Patsy, a Jack Russell mix approximately 2-years-old. I’m very obedient and well behaved. I like to make people happy, am cute,

loveable and would love to be taken into someone’s home. I like running and chasing tennis balls and

playing fetch. My favorite part of the day is when I get fed treats or kibble. I just love to eat and, most of all, I just want a home

where I’m loved and cared for, my last one just left

me at the shelter when they moved. I am enrolled in the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program and graduate from my training on May 16th and will be ready to move into my forever home! So if you want to meet me, call 910-297-1338 or email [email protected]. Better yet,

fill out an application at www.montyshome.org. Written for Patsy by her inmate trainer Derrick M.

SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE

I'm Frodo, a very sweet and loving Basset Hound who loves

belly rubs. I'm almost completely crate-trained and still working on

my house-training. I enjoy a good walk and do well on a leash. I am a joy to be around and any home looking for a Basset to love will

absolutely adore me. I just need some attention (and a few deli-cious bones.) Once I am rid of these pesky heartworms, I can't wait to meet you! Still not convinced? Then I'm afraid I

must unleash my irresistible charm! To adopt me, call 919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com. Also, we are short on foster homes! If you have ever thought about

fostering, contact CBHR for more details.

I’m Tori, a beautiful, sweet, salt and pepper mini-Schnauzer weighing

only 13 pounds. I’m estimated to be around 4 to 6-years-old. I’m a great girl who gets along with all dogs, big and small, and everyone I meet. I am not much of a player with other

dogs because I would rather be soaking up all the love I can get from

my human parents. I am house-trained and can use the doggy door as well. So, if you are looking for a

special girl who will be your best friend, please visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. There you can fill out an application or view other pets up for adoption. If you

COASTAL CAROLINA BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE

Hi, I’m Florence. My history is unknown but it’s obvious that I was

once loved by a family. I love to snuggle in the bed covers, sit on my foster mom’s lap, and don’t mind sharing the

couch to get a belly rub. I’m a very sweet, love-able adult Boston Ter-rier lady, who would be most happy in a loving home with moderate to

low energy and people who will love me and rub my tummy. Could I be the right girl for your family? For more information, contact CCBTR at [email protected] or call

lap. I am also a smart boy and am already house and crate-trained. I get along well with

My name is Nuru. I'm a sweet 3-year-old female

Great Dane who personifies pure joy. Chasing a soccer ball is one of my favorite ac-

tivities along with snuggling in on a soft spot to rest when I'm done. I will also play

nicely by myself with the ball or my wubba kong. I cur-

rently know “sit” and my foster mom even trusts me to be left loose in the house. I will lay down politely under or next to the dinner table while you eat and I ride well in the car. I am working to learn how to walk on a leash properly. I'm eager to please and will make a great companion. Email

[email protected] or call 704-559-4121.
