Today we held our annual Presentation Day Ceremony, where student achievement across the school was celebrated. We had a large number of parents and community members present and it was wonderful to see so many enthusiastic and excited students and their families. Two very special and surprise awards were presented today: Director’s Award – to the staff at Queanbeyan West Public School for Exemplary service to the students and families within their school community. Director’s Award – to Vicki Muscat for Exemplary leadership in the service of students and to their families in the school community. 2019 Prefects – Amber Virgo, Stephanie Reyes, Chloe Anderson, Annalise Steele, Jake Hately, Max McElwee, Charlies Smith, Sam walerk Christmas Lights Thank you to Mrs Rowena Blundell and family for supporting our school with her Christmas Light Display. Mrs Blundell supports our school, through donations, to buy sensory resources for our classes. The interesting and valued equipment assists students in their day to day activities. Year 6 Activity Day – Tuesday 18 December Students will join Peer Support Groups to participate in a morning of activities from 10:00am – 11:00am, painting, drawing, sport, creative arts are a few. After our sausage sizzle lunch 11:15am – 12:10pm; students can participate in wet play activities. Students can stay in their clothes that they’ve had on in the morning activities. Students, however should bring a change of clothes, including shoes to change in to. Students will require a hat to participate in the wet play activities and sunscreen should be applied in the morning. During the afternoon our classes will watch a movie and I’ll provide the popcorn. Last day for students – Wednesday 19 December The last day for students is Wednesday 19 December. The Year 6 Guard of Honor will be in place from 3:00pm near the Library. We have had a terrific Year 6 and I take this opportunity to wish them well as they embark on their secondary schooling. Have a good week Mrs Vicki Muscat Principal

The Library Corner

We have a surprise! The Library Corner is now on our Facebook

page … Come on check it out!

The Library Corner is a social networking group where children's books are recommended and reviewed by you, in consultation with your children. The Library Corner is a way for you, the parents and carers of our Queanbeyan West PS students, to contribute to the educational and recreational reading and learning needs of our students.

The benefit of this project to our school community is providing a wider informational and social resource - connecting parents with children of similar age and reading abilities to each other in order to share reading recommendations and book reviews. The aim is to:

increase reading for learning and pleasure,

promote greater ‘book talk’ amongst the students, and

provide insight into what could be purchased for the library.
