COLONY SCRAPBOOK-Liam Pearson-

Through the eyes of Lyle Rez.Lyle is “copyrighted” by Liam Pearson >:D

:D Texas History 111-28-11

Prologue -????-

Hello, I am Lyle Rez, and we moved from somewhere in New Jersey, one of the American Colonies, to Victoria, Texas.

Ever since the financial panic, everywhere was high priced to fuel the economy…

:D

Prologue (continued) -????-

We came on a wagon, not on the Lively, we had a bad feeling about boats.

Our family consisted of Dad, Mom, Big Brother, my three sisters, and the family’s two slaves.

When we qualified for land, we acquired 1920 acres with a 3 year land payment of $76.80.

:D

Dead Winter -1822-

First, we moved to our new land in Victoria, after the land payment of course, and set aside $800 for farming…

40 acres for each of the following: Cattle, Cotton, and Lumber.

Winter was approaching, and people needed homes, so it was a good year for lumber!

:D

Dead Winter (continued) -1822-

Cattle started dying all over Texas. Time to get the broom…

While me made $1200, we lost many cattle… Beef Stew, anyone?

Alright, going into the new year!

:D

Export Problems -1823-

Time to start farming… $800 used. Same Acreage for our farm: 40a each.

The Mexicans got upset, and started taxing the shipping of cotton, making it WORTHLESS when the shipping stopped…

:D

$800

Export Problems (continued) -1823-

For some reason, beef was in demand, so we made a pretty good haul off cattle.

So, we made no money off cotton, regular amount of money off lumber, and three times on cattle… That amounts up to $1400. Plus our current amount, $523.20, equals 1923.20. Yes, I did the math.

:D

MORE!!!

The Awesome Ages -1824-

Final land payment, then we farm, and own the land. Big whoop.

Time to use $800 for farming again…More schedules and routines. It’ll probably be a regular income year…

:D

The Awesome Ages (continued) -1824-

I was completely wrong! Crops were better than last year and the year before!

Cattle and Lumber were twice as much, but the REAL bumper crop was cotton. It was getting pretty close to winter after all.

:D

The End… (of this story)

We started with $1000, and ended with $3369.

Three years are over, and I think we’re staying…

The time we’ve been here was great, but things could get worse.

:D

The End… (of this story) [continued]

Things have gotten worse, all right. The town I live in, Victoria, is now full of fighting, and we had to lose $100 for protection. I guess I get my own Rifle. >:D
