Newsletter Carolina Pelicans October 2011 Rally at the Ranch An enthusiastic group of members arrived at the Billups’ Ranch on October 5 to attend the rally hosted by Anne and Bob Billups. The group enjoyed dry camping at its best as they circled the wagons in the field behind the house and next to the tents provided for meetings, entertainment and eating. Among the activities enjoyed were skeet and target shooting, horseshoes, golf, cards, and Bingo, as well as much fellowship and visiting. The group traveled to the Schoolhouse for a delicious buffet meal on Friday evening, and Bob and Anne provided a wonderful chicken bog with sides and desserts for the Saturday evening meal. Bob prepared a fire pit and we had enormous campfires that warmed the spirits and the toes. Saturday was made special by the appearance of a local bluegrass band that entertained the group around the campfire with their very special talents. They were a talented group of musicians, and were well received. The weather was perfect, the food and entertainment superb, and everyone agreed that this was a wonderful rally. Thank you, Bob and Anne for your hard work.

Rally at the Ranch

An enthusiastic group of members arrived at the Billups’ Ranch on October 5 to attend the rally hosted by Anne and Bob Billups. The group enjoyed dry camping at its best as they circled the wagons in the field behind the house and next to the tents provided for meetings, entertainment and eating. Meeting Notes

The Chapter meeting was held on Saturday morning, and the group enjoyed coffee and doughnuts and sausage rolls prior to our discussion of several items. Among the decisions made were to formally present the chapter flags to new members at the first rally they attend after joining. A standing motion was made that the chapter pay $200.00 to the National Director from the chapter for attending national rallies. The office of Sunshine was made permanent, and Nancy Holtzman is serving in this capacity at this time. If any member encounters illness, or death in their immediate families, please notify her at [email protected], or call her so that she can respond. Rally expenses are increasing,

so the Rally Fee was increased to $10.00 per couple. Other business included appointing Danny Dimmery as chair of the Nominating Committee. He will work with Pete Walsh and present a slate of officers at our next rally in December. Arnold Page, a member of the Gideons, brought testaments and invited the group to take with them any they wanted for personal use and/or distribution. Pat Knight, who keeps up with all of the photos for the chapter album, is going to post pictures on the website for all to enjoy. Tom Krimminger reminded members to go to the website http://carolinapelicans.wordpress.com and subscribe so that they are notified when anything new is posted. Making the site a “Favorite” is an easy method of access. Other discussion centered around the GEAR Rally, making preparations for travel, the float, and the chapter table.

Sad News : (

The group was saddened to hear Andy and Shelby Muller announce that this was their last rally. They have their motor coach for sale, and, due to health reasons, will be dropping their membership. They have been long-time, faithful members, and will be missed. Andy and Shelby, please stay in touch, and may you have Happy Trails wherever and however you go.
