DAISY Award Recipient…Jeremy Lyles, RN, BSN…July 30, 2018.

Congratulations to Jeremy who is part of our Emergency Department Team, for receiving the award this quarter. This is what the patient’s Mom, Audrey Williams, had to say about Jeremy: I want to specifically send kudos to Jeremy. He was so nice and attentive. Jeremy really went above and beyond. My son was nauseated from the meds and began to vomit all over my clothes. Without hesitation, Jeremy took him from me and held him over the sink. He was genuinely concerned and less concerned about it getting all over him. He immediately brought me a pair of scrubs to change in to so that I could be dry and comfortable. I made the comment to my sister during my visit that Jeremy was one of the best nurses I’ve ever had. His personality and service that he provided was absolutely awesome!

Congratulations to Lillie Hunter… Celebrated 30 Years at Newberry Hospital in July!

Lillie is an important part of our Laboratory Department and is one of the many exceptional people who help make Newberry Hospital special. Thank you Lillie!

Congratulations to Leslie Minick and Charlene Smith for making the Spring 2018 Dean’s List. Both are currently enrolled at USC Upstate in the BSN program. Balancing home life and work life and maintaining this level of achievement takes definite will power and determination! Great job!

Junior Volunteer Ice Cream Social…August 1, 2018.

Another successful year for our Junior Volunteer Program. The year wrapped up with an ice cream social served by our Volunteers. We also want to congratulate Jim Herman, Physical Therapist with our Rehab Department. He was selected by our Junior Volunteers to receive this year’s Compass Award. We thank Jim for helping to make a difference in a student’s life.

Employees of the Quarter (4th quarter)…Congratulations!

Ancillary/Clinical Support: Mike Smith I was recently in the front lobby with a patient that was having some difficulty walking. I was getting a wheelchair but patient was having trouble getting up from the bench to get into chair. Mike saw this, stopped, and helped patient get up and into the chair. I appreciated his recognizing a need and just helping. He was on his way out after working a full shift.

Nursing: Carolyn Bivens The Lab did not have an early morning phlebotomist and there were quite a few patients to stick. Carolyn went VERY above and beyond to help the lab third shift tech stick the patients so we could have results up in a timely fashion. This is just a great example of showing teamwork between departments.

Non-Clinical: Carly Osborne I would like to nominate Carly for Employee of the Quarter. Carly pitches in wherever needed in Registration. Our department has had some significant changes in the last several months and she has faced each challenge with persistence and a positive attitude. She is a wonderful resource to her employees and a huge asset to the NCMH team.

Facebook Post, June 18, 2018: The BEST Hospital and BEST Staff imaginable! The level of care given my husband at Newberry Hospital could not be matched by any other hospital. Congratulations on hiring qualified staff who possess servants' hearts and have the patients as their top priority.

From Carole Murray with WKDK, July 11, 2018: Hey Brenda! Jimmie forwarded me the info about the robotic knee replacement...that is so cool! I hope you are doing well! I mentioned this during midday the last time you were here so not sure if you heard it or not, but I gave a special shout out to NCMH. My dad had a farm accident back in June...a run-in with a half ton cow...but the service from ER to his stay to even now with the followups were fantastic! We couldn’t have asked for better care! Just wanted to let you know girl...have a great day! Carole Asked if we could share in our newsletter and she provided an update: Yes...please do share! Dr. Bayuk was the doctor that cared for him and continues to see him with the followup visits. He seems like an excellent doctor and is very “patient-friendly”...kudos to him, and kudos also to Dr. Brown with the Wound Center. Again, all the nurses and doctors were great and really made us feel good about our local hospital! My dad is doing much better. He is a living miracle...and we are blessed by that! He’s 84 years young and I really wonder if there’s anything that can keep him down ha! He saw Dr. Bayuk earlier this week and I think he told my dad that in another month he should be able to pretty much get back to normal with things! Carole Facebook Message, July 16, 2018: I was in the Emergency room Sunday morning in terrible pain. I was treated wonderfully. The entire staff were superb. Quick response, caring attitude, aim to please. Was so very appreciative of the care I was given. Thank you all. I know a lot of you and some I can’t call my name but as a whole I thank you so very much. Facebook Post, July 2018, shared by Board of Trustee Member with permission from the patient:

Facebook Post, August 12, 2018: The best hospital, the best nursing staff, the best phleb & the best cooks in their cafeteria.
