I love what Paul says in II Timothy 1:9b-10 “This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” Let us not grow weary in doing good and consistently living for Jesus because he is the “Death Destroyer”. —Amen!

Summer in Genesis!

It is not a series that gets explored often. But it has sure been, to this point, a lot of fun for me. My goal is not to do a verse by

verse study of Genesis, but to look at some of the major individuals who make up the story line of the Bible. We have looked at Adam/Eve, Cain/Abel, Enoch and Noah and will be looking at Abram, Sa-rah, Lot/wife, Isaac, Jacob, twelve sons, Joseph/Mrs. Potipher in the next eight weeks. So make sure you plan on being present every Sunday and do bring someone with you.

As I celebrate 8-1/2 years of ministry with Hillside, I am reminded of how many of our

church family have gone “to be with the Lord.” Just two weeks ago, we lost two very involved members of our church family. Jennalee Thompson lost her battle to cancer and aging. Sheryl Burruss was killed in a car accident west of town. Both of these sisters were involved right up to their final moments. We will miss them both.

Yes we “lost” them (so to speak), but our loss is God’s gain. Paul says in I Thess. 4:13-18 that they have “fallen asleep”. Interesting words. They are in transition. They will awaken! Yes they will, to His glorious promises on the other side. Read Revelation—it is strikingly obvious that all those clothed in Christ and walking with him will emerge victors when the

Lord Jesus returns. Though the details are beyond my explanation, none the less, it will happen! So disciples of Jesus, take courage!! Those who remain faithful until death—WIN! I love what Paul says in II Timothy 1:9b-10 “This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”

Let us not grow weary in doing good and consistently living for Jesus because he is the “Death Destroyer”. —Amen!

If you would like to receive your Challenger through email instead of through

the Post Office, please contact the office at 918-273-1278.

We are needing teachers and helpers for the Kids Quest and Little Kids areas. We especially need men to become involved in this area. Due to insurance requirements, we are required to have two adults in any classroom where children are present.

We are also asking that you pick up your children immediately following church service. Once parents begin picking up children, all the children are anxious for their parents to pick them up.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to teach your kiddos about Jesus!

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY...

HFT

Hillside Family Times are geared to get our

church family involved with each other. So you

are encouraged to participate in these events!!

July 28th - Movie at HCC!!

Right after church service, we will share a light

meal together. The adults will be watching

“God’s Not Dead” and the children will be watch-

ing a children appropriate movie. Popcorn will

be served!!

Back to School Bash

Welcome to the family of God Toby Barnes:

I do not say that I have received this or have already become perfect. But I keep going on to make that life my own as Christ Jesus made me His own. I do not have that life yet. I forget everything that is behind me and look forward to that which is ahead of me through Jesus Christ.

Kristie Hanigan:

Over three years ago, we began attending Hillside Christian. Our boys love the church, learning and loving God and worship. So with Jacob, Kyle and Logan wanting to attend, I joined them. Little did I know how our lives would change...and so much for the better! I was walled up inside of myself. Hateful and bitter, oh there was so much inside of me. Sharron Hider showed me kindness and love I hadn't experienced in a long time. She hugged me. That's all and so much more... Afterwards I bawled every time I entered the church. A lovely lady told me that was God and he was softening my heart. These ladies became my friends and to mean so much more... Each of them have had a pivotal moment during my growth as a daughter of God and as a woman. Its a love you've given me, I never knew I needed. Hopefully I can extend this love and kindness to someone someday. I give God our Lord all the credit for helping to learn who I am. Over a year ago my husband joined us at Hillside. I’m so thankful our family is thriving in the love of our Lord. I've since been baptized and loving every moment in this walk with our Lord. I've had many labels in life but Child of God is the best!! Thank you Hillside Christian for the loving kindness you've given me and mine.
