GLOBAL TREND PRINTING PACKAGING 2020

Dear Printpack readers,Laporan Global Trends drupa ke-6 menunjukkan bahwa industri cetak global secara keseluruhan berada dalam kondisi stabil.

Angka global tetap positif secara keseluruhan, dengan beberapa wilayah dan pasar bekerja lebih baik daripada yang lain. Kekhawatiran politik dan ekonomi untuk cloud masa depan sebaliknya prospek positif untuk mayoritas

Secara global, 40% printer menyatakan kondisi ekonomi perusahaan mereka ‘baik’ pada tahun 2018 versus 13% yang menggambarkan kondisi mereka sebagai ‘buruk’, sisanya ‘memuaskan’.

Ini memberikan saldo bersih positif 27%. Untuk Pemasok, saldo bersih positif adalah 19%. Kedua kelompok tetap optimis dengan c.50% mengharapkan sesuatu menjadi lebih baik pada 2019.

Kondisi bervariasi antara wilayah dan antar pasar. Amerika Utara terus menikmati pertumbuhan yang kuat pada tahun 2018, Eropa dan Australia menikmati pertumbuhan yang stabil, sementara Asia, Timur Tengah dan Amerika selatan atau Amerika tengah berhati-hati dan Afrika mengalami penurunan.

Hasil 2018 mencerminkan pola yang ditetapkan di sebagian besar wilayah, meskipun penurunan di Timur Tengah dan Amerika tengah atau selatan tampaknya memburuk.

Pasar Pengemasan berkembang pesat seperti halnya Fungsional, tetapi ada tanda-tanda jelas meningkatnya kehati-hatian di pasar Komersial dan Penerbitan tetap lemah, dengan pengecualian yang menggembirakan dari pasar buku.

Dalam hal Pengeluaran Modal, 41% printer menghabiskan lebih banyak pada 2018 dari 2017, sementara hanya 15% menghabiskan lebih sedikit dan pengeluaran tumbuh di semua wilayah kecuali Afrika. Yang di pasar Pengemasan dan Fungsional sangat bullish sementara yang di pasar Komersial dan Penerbitan lebih berhati-hati. Secara umum pola yang sama di antara Pemasok. Sedangkan untuk teknologi Cetak, warna Digital toner sheetfed adalah target paling umum untuk investasi pada 2019 untuk semua pasar, kecuali untuk Pengemasan di mana Sheetfed Offset menjadi yang pertama. Namun pasar Kemasan melihat pertumbuhan 5% dalam proporsi SKU yang menentukan cetak digital di semua aplikasi, kecuali untuk Label di mana angka tersebut sudah 40%.

Cetak global dalam kondisi baik secara keseluruhan. Hampir semua indikator global telah naik ke atas lima tahun terakhir dan sementara ada beberapa yang terkemuka indikator tantangan ke depan, dalam banyak kasus mereka terkait dengan masalah non-cetak, yaitu politik dan kondisi ekonomi yang lebih luas, baik secara regional misalnya. Brexit di Eropa atau lebih luas masalah global misalnya perang dagang.

Jelas ada beberapa daerah berjalan dengan baik - Amerika Utara dan Amerika Eropa, dan yang lainnya berjuang - Afrika, Selatan / Amerika Tengah, Timur Tengah. Sama di sana adalah pasar yang kuat - Pengemasan dan Fungsional dan yang lebih lemah - Komersial dan Penerbitan.Namun industri telah menemukan kolektifnya percaya diri lagi setelah guncangan kembar dekade terakhir - resesi global dan dampak media digital.

Tahun ini untuk pertama kalinya drupa -messe, bertanya kepada para peserta untuk menjawab pertanyaan terbuka pada peluang yang mereka

rasakan dan ancaman yang mereka miliki. Sejauh ini kekhawatiran paling umum untuk 2019 terdapat oleh printer dan pemasok ekonomis atau tantangan politik:

Pada 3 Desember 2019 bertempat di Grand Hyat Jakarta, Interpack 2020 - Messe Düsseldorf lakukan roadshow ke negara-negara di dunia termasuk Indonesia, bertemu dengan 90 pengusaha industri pengemasan Indonesia.

Tujuannya untuk memberikan edukasi tren pengembangan industri kemasan di dunia. Interpack adalah pameran B2B terbesar industri pengemasan dan industri terkait lainya yang akan kembali digelar di Düsseldorf Jerman pada 7 – 13 Mei 2020.

Messe Düsseldorf ajak pengusaha kemasan Indonesia temukan tren teknologi terbaru di interpack 2020

“Saat ini 18 hall area pameran di Interpack 2020 telah habis terjual diisi oleh 3000 perusahaan teknologi pengemasan ternama dari 60 negara di dunia. Bahkan permintaan penambahan luas area pameran masih terus berdatangan. Penting bagi pengusaha Indonesia hadir di Interpack 2020 karena pameran ini akan menghadirkan tren-tren teknologi masa depan yang diprediksi sudah semakin berkembang di penghujung tahun 2019, “ujar Thomas Dohse, Deputy Director Interpack Messe Düsseldorf GmbH.

Pameran interpack digelar setiap tiga tahun selalu mencatat jumlah

pengunjung yang fantastis. Di tahun 2017, Interpack dikunjungi oleh 170,899 pengunjung dari 169 negara dimana 75% dari jumlah tersebut memiliki jabatan penting dan merupakan pengambil keputusan di perusahaannya.Interpack berfokus pada solusi pengemasan dan teknologi proses terkait, ditujukan bagi para pengusaha di bidang makanan, minuman, gula-gula, produk roti, farmasi, kosmetik, barang konsumsi bukan makanan dan barang industri.

pengunjung mencari teknologi yang diinginkan. Misal, penyuplai teknologi kemasan obat-obatan berada dekat dengan kosmetik. Atau pengunjung yang mencari mesin untuk teknologi pelabelan dan identifikasi, produksi bahan kemasan dan pencetakan kemasan berada dalam satu hall pameran sehingga waktu kunjungan menjadi lebih efisien.

Satu dari sekian tren internasional yang dihadirkan di interpack 2020 yakni penggunaan kemasan ramah lingkungan (sustainable packaging) seiring dengan maraknya isu mengenai pemanasan global dan isu-isu lain yang berhubungan dengan pencemaran lingkungan yang menjadi sebuah permasalahan tersendiri beberapa tahun ini. Ide penggunaan kemasan ramah lingkungan ini sudah lebih berkembang terlebih dahulu di kalangan asing. Kini para pelaku industri di Indonesia, juga melihat hal ini sebagai peluang untuk mengembangkan dan mengikuti tren ini agar tidak

tersisih dalam persaingan global. Selain itu penggunaan kemasan ramah lingkungan merupakan suatu keperluan yang harus di terapkan oleh setiap pelaku industri di Indonesia mengingat saat ini dunia tengah diramaikan oleh isu-isu mengenai bahaya limbah yang berasal dari sampah produk, limbah plastik.

Berbicara di presentasi Interpack 2020, Direktur Eksekutif Federasi Pengemasan Indonesia (FPI) Henky Wibawa menekankan pentingnya sustainable packaging dalam mempromosikan kesehatan dan kehidupan yang lebih baik, mengurangi bahaya terhadap lingkungan, dan dalam jangka panjang menurunkan biaya.

“Penting memikirkankembali desain kemasan dan pembuatan nya dalam penerapan Industri 4.0. 81% dari dampak lingkungan suatu produk berada pada tahap desain,” ujar Henky Wibawa. Henky menekankan pentingnya mengadopsi desain berkelanjutan

dalam kemasan sebagai satu pendekatan untuk produksi kreatif yang mendasari pengambilan keputusan yang efektif terhadap pengurangan dampak pada masyarakat dan lingkungan.

Merancang kemasan makanan dan minuman dengan paradigma ramah lingkungan meningkatkan kelayakan produk. Hal ini karena bahan yang dapat digunakan kembali menciptakan nilai baru, tidak hanya untuk perusahaan itu sendiri tetapi juga untuk pengguna dan bisnis lain yang akan menggunakan dan menggunakan kembali bahan tersebut. “Dengan teknologi baru dan pendekatan desain, pengemasan dapat membantu mencegah pemborosan makanan di berbagai tahapan rantai nilai. Pengusaha Indonesia dapat memanfaatkan pameran Interpack 2020 untuk mengakses teknologi terbaru dalam pengemasan agar tetap dapat bersaing,” ujar Henky Wibawa/dr@

Playful Colors, Designs and GradientsThe move toward bold designs and effects on packaging has been expanding for some time. In 2020, this trend remains strong. Many companies recognize how well strong colors, designs and dramatic effects stand out. They also see how well this trend results in increased sales volume.

There is no doubt about how well humans respond to packaging with unique designs and colors. Information from the Pantone Color Institute states people experience 80% of their awareness from sight. Strong colors like neon green and bright yellow quickly attract a person’s attention. So do effects like shining metallic sheens and reflective surfaces.

Leading marketers design packaging to grab hold of a consumer’s notice and retain the memory. Studies have shown that people make subconscious decisions about buying products within the first minute and a half after observing it. The Flexible Packaging Association reports the flexible packaging segment accounts for 19% of the total U.S. packaging market. Flexible packaging takes in all non-rigid materials. The most popular flexible packages are wraps, bags, pouches and envelopes.

This plastic wouldn’t break down or decompose, which made it environmentally hostile. Today, most flexible packaging uses materials made of polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate or polypropylene. These high-tech plastics are durable when in use but deteriorate when discarded.

New end-of-life recycling programs are trending and propelling flexible packages even more. In fact, Smithers Pira reports the flexible packaging industry will grow by 3.3% each year to reach $269 billion in 2024.

Recycled packaging is part of the worldwide sustainability movement. For years, the vast majority of packaging waste found its way to landfills. Worse yet is the mass of non-perishable plastics currently floating in the oceans. That pollution cannot be ignored, and many consumers want to do what they can to prevent it. These classic colors, shapes and themes reflect an earlier era of simplicity and placidness. It’s a direction many modern people wish they could turn to, and packaging helps them achieve that experience.There are three reasons the vintage packaging trend is popular. Camel Digiprint Dukung Pelaksanaan KOPDAR KPPS Indonesia Wilayah Jawa TengahJelang libur Natal 2019 lalu, Camel Digirpint menghadiri kegiatan KPPS (Komunitas Penjual dan Pemasang Sticker) Jawa Tengah yang digelar di Agrowisata Pagilaran, Kabupaten Batang.

Event yang berlangsung selama 2 hari itu dihadiri oleh komunitas pengguna sticker khususnya di bidang branding otomotif. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk menghubungkan penyedia bahan dan mesin kepada aplikator stiker dari berbagai daerah.

Pada kesempatan ini Camel Digiprint mendemokan hasil cetak dan hasil pemasangan sticker Large Format High Gloss pada sebuah mobil yang telah disediakan oleh pihak penyelenggara.

Sticker High Gloss dengan ukuran 106cmx50m dimuat pada mesin cetak Large Format dan dicetak dengan motif decal yang akan diaplikasikan di mobil demo. Hasil cetak pun memunculkan warna yang sangat cerah dengan profil yang lebih mengkilap dibanding produk standar Camel Digiprint White Gloss.

Setelah itu hasil cetakan dipotong menggunakan mesin cutting untuk menyesuaikan bentuk gambar yang dicetak. Akhirnya hasil potongan tersebut diaplikasikan pada mobil demo oleh pemasang yang sudah berpengalaman di bidangnya.

Dalam pemasangan stiker Large Format pada mobil, ada beberapa hal yang perlu diperhatikan:- Sebelum pemasangan stiker pada badan mobil, pastikan permukaan

bodi telah bersih dan tanpa debu.- Penempelan pada permukaan lengkung, gunakan hair dryer/ heat gun untuk melemaskan Vinyl. Dalam kondisi normal bahan Vynil bersifat lentur dan bisa diregangkan, dan dengan bantuan panas Vynil akan bisa lebih mengikuti bentuk permukaan.- Penggunaan air sabun cukup umum pada pemasang stiker untuk memudahkan reposisi stiker, namun sifat lem pada Stiker Camel Digiprint Large Format memungkinkan pemasang untuk mencabut stiker untuk ditempel lagi pada posisi yang benar sebelum 30 menit berlalu.- Masalah yang umum ditemukan pada stiker branding adalah ketika sticker dilepas setelah periode waktu tertentu, sejumlah lem menempel pada bodi mobil sehingga meninggalkan bekas. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, Camel Digirprint menggunakan lem dengan formulasi khusus yang meminimalkan lem yang bisa tertinggal pada bodi mobil sehingga memudahkan proses penggantian./*red

TENTANG DANISH DIGITAL PRINT, CIREBON Sebelum terjun ke bisnis digital printing, Irwan mengawali usahanya sebagai pemilik jasa warnet atau warung internet pada tahun 2009 hingga 2012 dan berjalan sukses. Preview of technology trends and concept for drupa 2020

Leading suppliers of printing and finishing technology hold four specialist conferences in three Southeast Asian countries PrintPromotion, the VDMA Printing and Paper Technology Association and Messe Düsseldorf cooperate with local printing associations

For eleven days, the printing, media and packaging industry will gather in Düsseldorf for its world’s leading trade fair and take a joint look at their technological future.

For several weeks now, the drupa world tour 2019/2020 has been running to highlight competitive technology trends for players from the printing, media and packaging industries, to present the extensive drupa programme – and also, to arouse joyful anticipation. After stops in North and South America, this week (5 and 6 December) the tour will stop in Hanoi and Saigon. After the two specialist conferences in Vietnam, two further conferences will follow on December 10th and 12th in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and in the Thai metropolis of Bangkok

At all conferences, drupa director Sabine Geldermann will present the current status of preparations as well as current exhibitor figures. She will also provide the

drupa world tour shows technology trends which may make the difference

concept of three drupa touchpoints as special exhibition areas, the drupa cube`s conference programme and in addition the new meeting zone between start-ups and established exhibitors - drupa dna.Claus Bolza-Schünemann, drupa President and CEO of Koenig & Bauer AG, and Dr Markus Heering, Managing Director of the VDMA Printing and Paper Technology Association and PrintPromotion GmbH, will explain key technology trends at drupa 2020 and their impact on the printing and packaging industry.

Four megatrends with partially disruptive potentialIn the spring of 2019, leading drupa exhibitors met for future-workshops - and in this context identified four megatrends, which might potentially disrupt today`s routines in the printing and packaging industry; it`s about Artificial Intelligence, Connected Customer, Platform Economy and Circlular Economy. “These trends will profoundly change process flows in both the printing and packaging industries”, stresses Markus Heering. Especially in the increasingly globalized market environment, it is going to be vital for suppliers of printing and finishing services to keep a close eye on the technological future and to maintain their own competitiveness through appropriate investments.

“In order to remain competitive despite increasing customer demands for quality as well as for delivery times and increasing cost pressure, enterprises will have to establish more efficient, highly automated processes. Otherwise, connected customers will switch with a click of the

mouse to those competitors who can offer them up-to-date services,” warns Heering. At the same time, the industry has to deal with society’s demand for environmentally friendly, sustainable products. The aim is to transfer those recycling solutions that are already highly developed in many areas and regions into a global circular economy.

Leading drupa exhibitors explain future technology for the pressroom and post-print sectorAt the conferences in Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, eight leading suppliers of printing and finishing technology or packaging solutions will present concrete Print 4.0 approaches – taking up the named megatrends.

Press manufacturers such as Heidelberg, Koenig & Bauer, Windmöller & Hölscher and H.C. Moog will be presenting digitally networked, highly automated technology for the press hall. In addition, suppliers of post-press and finishing solutions, such as Mueller Martini, LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co. KG, and POLAR-Mohr, as well as the specialist for light-based drying and curing technology – IST-Metz – will give an outlook to the future in their respective specialist areas. According to ICAEW, Southeast Asia’s economy has grown at a moderate growth rate of 4.5 percent in 2019 and it is expected to stay stable in 2020. ‘A sluggish global economy impacts growth in ASEAN,’ says Piyapong Wongvorakul, managing director of Bangkok-based converter Trisan Printing. ‘However, our market is huge and there is enough room to grow.’

Brenton Barrett, president Asia-Pacific at Multi-Color Corporation, echoes that there is a wide room to grow with ASEAN’s per capita pressure-sensitive label consumption sitting at 1.6sqm. 2019 saw much activity in the region’s label industry, including multinational companies moving into the region. RotoMetrics expanded its manufacturing footprint in Thailand, and Cron established a brand office in Malaysia. Machinery manufacturer Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) opened fully owned subsidiaries with local service and support teams in Jakarta, Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at the start of 2019.

MPS appointed an agent in Malaysia, and Koenig & Bauer Flexotecnica expanded its sales capacities with new appointments in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

South East Asia: Opportunities and Challenges

Further, Konica Minolta was evaluating appointing distributors in the growing markets of Indonesia and the Philippines. Armor Asia celebrated two decades of operations in Southeast Asia with a modern factory in Singapore. Many of the region’s converters installed configured presses to cater to their customers’ demands.

The Southeast Asian label market continues to grow in light of rising consumer spending, urbanization, the emerging middle class and an aging population offering opportunities such as home delivery, convenience and in-home care, increasing access to digital platforms catalyzing the growth of e-commerce platforms, and data mining. Brands are trying to utilize data collected from various online platforms to formalize consumer strategies, thereby increasing transactions on digital media. ‘Online shoppers, however, do not bring an advantage to label printers because customers see

labels online and not on shelves,’ opines Wongvorakul. ‘Therefore, for label printers to enjoy benefits of e-commerce, they will have to develop smart, functional and on-demand labels.’

Henky Wibawa, executive director at the Indonesian Packaging Federation, says single portion flexible packs and packaging that is functional during transport and at point of sale are gaining traction. Healthcare packaging is a fast-growing segment, as is transparent packaging in the food sector.

As in most other growing markets, sustainability is a buzz word. Oran Sokol, director and general manager, HP Indigo Asia Pacific and Japan, says: ‘Sustainability is an expectation that consumers today have of brands, and print service providers need to be able to provide them with sustainable options. Studies find that the green packaging market is poised to reach

237.8 billion USD by 2024, registering 5.7 percent CAGR during the forecast period. Brands like Unilever, P&G and Nestlé are making new environmental strides to reduce packaging waste through initiatives like Loop and Unilever’s commitment to reducing its weight of packaging by one third by 2020.’

According to Wibawa, some trends expected to be key in Indonesia are lightweighting, new materials, improved recyclability and smart packaging. ‘ASEAN countries are looking to collaborate in many environmental areas including the study of sustainable consumption and production,’ says Wongvorakul. ‘This will enable companies to manage and implement government regulations more efficiently. Recycling is yet another challenge. Companies won’t be able to use a combination of different layers on a pack for long, due to recycling challenges. They will

have to shift to monolayer materials in packaging. This has also led to a shift from pressure-sensitive labels to films and shrink labels.’

The region is seeing strong growth in the flexible packaging segment. According to a Transparency Market Research, the Asian flexible packaging market is poised to reach a CAGR of 5.7 percent to 6.7 billion USD from 2016 to 2024. Wibawa agrees: ‘Flexible packaging represents the largest and fastest-growing packaging segment in Indonesia, with a share of 45 percent. Growing markets include food and specialty packaging, industrial and consumer packaging, hygiene and medical care, and rigid packaging.’

Challenges‘Sheet-fed converters diversifying into label and packaging production is increasing price competition in the market,’ says Wongvorakul.

‘Therefore, existing label converters will have to be more efficient by improving their processes, being focused and adopting latest technologies that can fulfill market’s expectations.’Adds Wibawa: ‘Brand consciousness amongst consumers and demand for lower packaging cost by brand owners remain a challenge in the Indonesian market.’

Upaya ini akan diwujudkan dalam penyelenggaraan SCG Sustainable Development (SD) Symposium Indonesia 2020: Circular Economy, Collaboration for Action yang akan digelar pada 22 Februari mendatang.

Forum pertemuan para pemimpin global ini untuk pertama kalinya dilaksanakan di Indonesia dan bertujuan untuk saling berbagi pengalaman implementasi ekonomi sirkular, baik di bisang bisnis, birokrasi, maupun komunitas. Kemudian melakukan kolaborasi diantara para pemangku kepentingan terkait, untuk mewujudkan praktek ekonomi sirkular dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.

“Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesadaran bersama akan pentingnya ekonomi sirkular untuk mencapai tujuan pembangunan berkelanjutan. Lebih jauh lagi, SCG menyadari bahwa kolaborasi dari berbagai pihak dibutuhkan dalam mengimplementasikan konsep

ekonomi sirkular. Sebagai negara dengan populasi terbesar di ASEAN dan merupakan salah satu negara terkuat dari sisi Ekonomi dan Politik, posisi Indonesia sangat strategis untuk menjadi negara pendorong praktek ekonomi sirkular, tidak hanya di kawasan ASEAN, bahkan dunia,” jelas Wiroat Rattanachaisit, Country Director - SCG Indonesia.

Sebagai penanda, pada hari ini (22/1) dilaksanakan acara SCG Welcoming Circular 2020, di Jakarta. SCG ingin menggugah kesadaran masyarakat untuk senantiasa berperilaku sirkular, artinya mulai dari mengedukasi hingga memberi contoh untuk menggunakan sebesar-besarnya manfaat dari sumber daya, dan menekan semaksimal mungkin jumlah sampah atau limbah. Dengan kata lain konsepnya adalah make – use – return. Praktek ekonomi sirkular

sangat mungkin untuk dilakukan di Indonesia; konsep ini sudah mulai dilirik oleh banyak pihak, termasuk oleh pemerintah Indonesia; sebagai solusi yang paling tepat dalam mencapai kehidupan berkelanjutan.

SINERGI KOLABORASI – Aksi Wisuda Ke-30 TMM

Trisakti School of Multimedia (TMM) menggelar wisuda ke-30, tanggal 04 Desember 2019 di Carani Ballroom – Gedung Sasana Kriya TMII.

Sebanyak 96 wisudawan, 7 mahasiswa dari Program Studi Teknologi Grafika dan 89 mahasiswa dari Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual.

WISUDAWAN TERBAIK - CumlaudeSTMK Trisakti memberikan penghargaan kepada wisudawan terbaik dengan predikat cumlaude antraa lain :Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual : Rico Azhari Susilo, Fatika Sari Pratiwi, Ika Putri Dewanti, Danti Yuni Safira, Arnan Harsanto, sedangkan dari Program Studi Teknologi Grafika terdapat 7 mahasiswa dengan predikat cumlaude yakni Alexander Candra Riyanto, Rufaida Hanum, Husna Zulkarnaen, Veronika Desi Ratna

Wisuda kali ini mengusung tema ‘Sinergi Kolaborasi.’Selain mewisuda lulusan terbaik, STMK Trisakti juga melakukan penandatangan kerjasama-MOU kepada mitra baru antara lain :Yayasan Hidung Merah (Red Nose Foundation / RNF), PICCI, The Hatch, P3I-DKI Jaya, dan Tokome.id yang juga diperkenalkan kepada hadirin, peserta, undangan.

Kemudian penyampaian pesan & kesan dari wakil orang tua Andre Pohar M.Sc (pendiri Yayasan Anugerah Gemilang), serta inspirasi muda dari wisudawati Program Studi Teknologi Grafika Veronika Desi S.Tr. Graf (Best Creator Generation Metro TV-Siberkreasi kategori travelling).
