Congratulations to our Junior and Senior String Ensembles who received GOLD awards
and our Concert Band who received a SILVER award at this week’s Fan Fare event.
This is fantastic reward for our hard working and very talented instrumental musicians
and instrumental music team. We are so very proud of all of your achievements.
Changes to Report Cards
In 2018, there will be a slight change to the reporting language used in the individual student report cards.
These changes are aligned to the requirements for reporting to parents in the updated EQ P-12 Curriculum,
Assessment and Reporting Framework.
In summary the reporting comments will be written aligned to the following expectations:
• the learning expectations for the student (A general overall comment about what the students
have learnt aligned to the achievement standard for the year level – students individual names
won’t be used)
• the student’s achievement against expected standards (rating)
• how well the student is engaging with the expected learning (effort)
• how the student may be able to improve (English and Maths only)
• Behaviour: Single consistent A-E comment aligned to the school wide expectations of Be Safe, Be
Respectful and Be a Learner
Reports will be sent out in paper form this semester as well as via the QParent app.
Mathematics: Last Monday a number of our staff
presented to staff from across our cluster, hands on
mathematical activities, ideas and learnings from our
classrooms. These presentations were based on learnings
developed through our Professional Learning
Communities (PLC) into Maths that are a major focus of
our 2018 Investing for Success strategy and investment:
Undertaking PLC days to enable collaborative short cycle
data analysis, and develop and implement teaching and
learning plans and differentiated programs to support the needs of students: RSS I4S Strategy 2018
Our staff did a magnificent job celebrating how our students have been highly engaged with hands on,
outside learning that has provided them with challenging investigations and real life problems. As a school
we are beginning to notice a significant change in our student’s positive attitudes as a direct result to these
fun mathematical opportunities. Please feel free to provide your child’s teacher with any feedback if your
child has come home engaged in their mathematical learning in recent times.

Centenary Heights Year 7 Information Night
The following evening will continue as advertised, however as
a large number of our Year Six students across our cluster will
be attending Sing Out which has also been scheduled for this
evening, Centenary will also host a Year Seven information
night on Tuesday, June 26 from 5.15 to 6pm for any family
who cannot make this advertised event due to the clash in
activities.
CAR PARKING AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH: STUDENT SAFETY MUST COME FIRST
We have recently had a large number of families expressing their frustrations with
the lack of appropriate parking around the school and therefore the dangerous
practices that are occurring as a result. A number of families who have children with
disabilities who attend our wonderful inclusive school, have been given permission
and a pass to park in the staff car parks with designated disabled parking.
Unfortunately this does not give permission for our other families to use these car
parks for their convenience. By parking unauthorised, you are putting your child and other children at
danger. Parents parking in the bus and no waiting zones are also causing safety concerns, traffic hazards
and dangers to other vehicles and most importantly our students. If families are frustrated, please pass
you concerns onto the police, Toowoomba Regional Council and the Department of Transport.
Mathletics and Instrumental Music Debts
Please help - we have a number of outstanding invoices still to be paid from the start of this semester.
Each child was asked to contribute $8 to the cost of Mathletics in 2018. This is a curriculum activity that
was included on the 2018 Booklist and a subscription that is used at least weekly by the children.
Instrumental music has a hire and also a tuition fee for the entire year. Students who have not had these
fees paid by the end of Week 10 Term Two will not continue to participate in our wonderful music
program next Semester.
Thank you to Mrs Wilshire who has been tasked with holding these uncomfortable conversations with
families to complete these transactions. She is just the messenger doing a great job in sometimes difficult
circumstances.

Sporting News: Athletics Changes:
This year the Athletics Carnival will be run differently to previous years. The trials scheduled for Week 8 as
advertised in our calendar have no longer taken place. Instead, all students will be given the opportunity
to compete on both days of the actual carnival in Week 10 (Wednesday & Thursday, June 20 & 21) without
the need for a week of trials.
“Learning Achieving and Growing Every Day.”
Some trials like High Jump will still need to take place as this is known to be a slow event. We will have
trials for High Jump for all age groups on Friday of Week 8, (June 8) where we will select the top 4 jumpers
from each sporting house. These Individuals will then compete in High Jump at the Athletics Carnival on
Day 1.

FARM COMES TO FETE
One of the attractions at the Rangeville School fete on Saturday
1st September will be an Animal Nursery.
Kids love pets and animals. We expect the Animal Nursery to be one of
the popular highlights of the event.
The Animal Nursery will be free to attend thanks to the generous
sponsorship of Liebke Tyres.
The Rangeville School community recognizes and appreciates the
continued support of Chris and Lorena Liebke.
Other fete attractions include Reptile Show, Batmobile & Batman, Rides galore, Photo Booth, Pony Rides,
Show Bags and the very popular Dunk the Teacher. Principal Mr Kidd has also offered to be a participant!
An ATM will be available on site as an added convenience for attendees.
LOST PROPERTY
Once again the lost property is out of control, please make sure your child/children’s name is on all items
of clothing. If your children are missing clothing please have them check the lost property on the verandah
of the Uniform Shop. Only take items that belong to you.
Other items of lost property are held at the office eg: at present we have 18 Watches, 11 pairs of Glasses
and 9 pairs of Sunglasses. We also have a lot of hair bands and many, many keys. If anyone is missing any
of these items please call in at the office.
WINTER
Winter has arrived and the temperature is quickly dropping, please make sure that
students bring a jumper to school. Also please ensure that all items of clothing are named,
there is a better chance of getting items back when lost if they have a name on them.
