Learning Achieving and Growing Every Day.” Rangeville State School N N e e w w s s l l i i n n k k Term 1 Week 10 3 rd April 2020 I would like to start this newsletter by thanking our students, staff and school community for their collective efforts in supporting us to manage the impact of Novel Coronavirus - COVID-19. This week we have been extremely busy as we have planned for enabling the continuity of student learning in the event we need to move to flexible and remote learning at the commencement of Term 2. I am immensely proud of the efforts and achievements of my entire staff this week as they have come together to create the learning platforms that may be required for next term. Our staff have focused on the fact that we had two priorities of work occurring at the same time this week: 1 st Priority: Providing consistent, predicable routines for the students who are at school. 2 nd Priority: Alignment of Face to Face (F2F) work in Term 2 Working on the Digital Learning for our Learning @ Home schooling options, Offline Learning @ Home Paper Based Education Provision Creating systems, protocols and expectations for children & family check ins We have achieved our above priorities and in Term 2 if required will be able to provide our students and families with effective support to meet their individual needs. Thank you to our families who completed our survey monkey regarding access to the digital environment. This valuable information has helped us immensely in planning for future implementation. Next Term I am aware that our entire school community are seeking further information about the status of schooling for Term 2. Our preparation and planning this week has been essential for us to be ready for a Learning @ Home model should that be required. Decisions about the operation of kindergarten and schools will be informed by national and state health advice and informed by the status of our nation’s response to COVID-19 and our Director General will continue to provide updated information on this and this will be regularly communicated through our usual communication channels as soon as I am able. If we are required to implement the Learning @ Home preparations the following will occur: We will operate with staff who will have different responsibilities aligned to their Year Level as follows: A number of staff will have responsibility for students who are at school (Face 2 Face/F2F) A number of staff will have responsibility for Digital Learning A number of staff will have responsibility for Offline, paper based learning opportunities including marking and feedback A number of staff will have responsibility for ensuring we are communicating with families regularly and effectively 32a High Street, Toowoomba Qld 4350 Phone: 4617 7333 Fax: 4617 7300 Email: [email protected] Web: www.rangevilless.eq.edu.au P & C: [email protected]. I would like to start this newsletter by thanking our students, staff and school community for their collective efforts in supporting us to manage the impact of Novel Coronavirus - COVID-19. Our staff have focused on the fact that we had two priorities of work occurring at the same time this week: 1st Priority: Providing consistent, predicable routines for the students who are at school. 2nd Priority:

Alignment of Face to Face (F2F) work in Term 2 Working on the Digital Learning for our Learning @ Home schooling options, Offline Learning @ Home Paper Based Education Provision Creating systems, protocols and expectations for children & family check ins

We have achieved our above priorities and in Term 2 if required will be able to provide our students and families with effective support to meet their individual needs. “Learning Achieving and Growing Every Day.”

This will be dependent on number of staff available due to vulnerability expectations. We have planned the following staff will undertake the following roles:

* Bolded Class teachers names = the room that the year level will be potentially taught Face 2 Face from if we are required to undertake the Learning @ Home platforms. School website: www.rangevilless.eq.edu.au During this time, one of our major communication channels will be our school Website. Mr Henry has been working hard to maintain the currency and accuracy of the information available on our school website and will ensure that all information pertaining to our Learn @ Home platforms, important local decisions and information that will support our families and community to navigate this challenging time will be live as soon as available. During this challenging time, you can be extremely proud of our staff who have done an absolute, amazing job to ensure we are ready to go if required with Learning @ home. The decisions and work that has been achieved this week would have in normal times taken us at least a year. We would like to wish everyone a very safe and enjoyable time during this Easter vacation period. Please follow the government safety recommendations – stay safe and we are looking forward to Learning, Achieving and Growing every day in whatever form that occurs because that’s the Rangeville Way!

“Learning Achieving and Growing Every Day.”

Continuity of Learning In the event that ‘Remote Learning at Home’ is required after the school holidays, teachers have spent this week developing a range of options for Teaching & Learning at Home. We have around 570 families who attend Rangeville State School and we have approximately 70 staff members with families of their own. Therefore, the home learning platform we have designed needs to flexible and agile. We will need to work together to adjust and respond, and we cannot expect a ‘one size fits all’ approach to achieve the same outcomes for all of our families. We have a very diverse school community - we have students of ‘essential workers’ families; we may have families dealing with multiple children at home working on different schedules; families supporting elderly relatives or families with a range of access to devices and internet. Therefore, we have planned for curriculum delivery in three modes;

1. Learning at Home 1 – accessing online learning using computers or ipads/tablets through the One

Note e-platform

2. Learning at Home 2 - accessing offline learning using a hard copy (paper copy) and/or USB

3. Face 2 Face Learning @ School – for children of essential workers.

Our goal is to provide learning opportunities that will be the same or very similar across all three formats so that all students are receiving consistent exposure to the curriculum and learning activities. Depending on future advice from the Director General, Department of Education, provision will be made for families to collect stationery and other learning materials that students may need to complete learning activities at home. At this stage, families will be asked to come to the school during Week 1 at the times indicated in the timetable below. School staff will be available to direct family members ensuring social distancing guidelines are maintained.

TIME TUESDAY – 21 April 2020 WEDNESDAY – 22 April 2020

From the Wellbeing Team

The Wellbeing Team consists of representatives from each year level, student support services and teacher aides. Our priorities are maintaining connections with students at school, students at home, families and staff. We are creating activities and procedures to assist students, families and staff members. We have been sourcing resources for our families to access and these will be made available on the school website. Families will be notified when this goes live. Our priority is to maintain connection and communication with our students and families during this time. We will be using Facebook, e-mail and the old fashioned post to help with this. Further information will be released in Week 1 Term 2. Happy and safe holidays from us all.
