★ South Georgia king penguins (Aptenodytes patagonicus patagonicus)
King penguins have been hunted for eggs, blubber, oil, and feathers. Commercial hunting for them is now banned. As a result their population is slowly increasing.
★ Blue-eyed black lemur (Eulemur fl avifrons)
The blue-eyed black lemur population is critically endangered. There are probably fewer than 1,000 left in the wild. Only about 60 live in captivity.
