Planning #1

Page 2: Planning question 4

We first of all looked up a setting for our trailer. We wanted to find an abandoned building, so that it would fit well with the horror genre. We found an abandoned mental institution and uploaded photo’s of it onto a Prezi; this helped to layout the photo’s in a more interesting and expressive way. We tried to see if we could get permission into the building, but later found out that it was not possible. And due to our group not trying to get access for filming sooner, we didn’t have enough time to try different people to contact to gain access.

We then went on to write the synopsis for the horror film that our trailer would be advertising. We made sure to refer to our research and include the storyline, protagonist, antagonist and stock characters.

We also came to a decision on what the film would be called, which was ‘Final Deadline’. This was because we wanted are trailer to be aimed at people around the age of college students. Because it linked to a deadline for coursework and a deadline as in the death of people.

Since the concept for our horror film was similar to that of ‘Scream’, we decided to look up clips from the film on ‘YouTube’. We found that there was a clip of ‘Randy’s rules’ which shows the concepts of horror films do’s and don'ts. These are the concepts that we would either choose to use or challenge.

We then went on to draw out storyboard on paper. Which I then took photos of each clip and uploaded them onto iMovie.

I then put all the clips in order and played them as we spoke over it reading out the script.

Also while drawing the storyboard, I had to consider the shot’s that we were going to use and wrote this down in a shotlist.

We made a flicker to upload our photo’s hat explored and developed themes, and showed different settings.

But all of this planning for this trailer ended up not going to plan. When it came to filming our trailer, we done it at night time when it was very dark. But we didn’t consider the lighting, so when the clips were uploaded onto the computer, they were hardly viewable and very out of focus.

We weren't able to get the people we used as actors in this trailer again at such short notice. So we then changed our whole concept for the trailer and used another group from our glass as our actors and they did the same with us.
