Here is an excerpt fromthe last months Moneymagazine.

From his recently released “Secrets Self-Made Millionaires Teach Their Kids”,Author Steve Siebold spoke with more than1,200 fellow millionaires. Here is one of hissecrets on playing sports.

Learning to play country club staples likegolf or tennis – if you are lucky enough tohave the opportunity – can give you a legup in the workforce, says Seibold.Baseball and basketball may be morepopular, but mastering sports traditionallyfavored by powerful people can lead tonetworking opportunities later in life.

“This gets under some people’s skin, and Iunderstand why, but facts are facts,”Seibold says. “Those sports are dominatedby wealthy families, and so theconnections they can make in those sportsare substantial. The idea is not to forcekids into activities they don’t like, but atleast expose them to those sports in termsof connections.”

Hate tennis? In truth, any sport willhelp you develop the discipline, cooperation, and communication skillsthat can help you succeed later on. And you never know which of your teammates will become key players in your professional network.

Well the summer is half over. It's hard to believe right? Don't worry though we might be through the bulkof everyone's vacation, but we have plenty more events coming up in August and in September. OnAugust 3rd we will have a buffet along with Harvey Thompson in the Dining room. September will havethe return of football as well as games out on the lawn. We will be introducing to-go tailgate platters. 522Also July 20th was my Sous Chef Lindsey's last day here at the club. She has left us to go lead the eventskitchen at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur. I am super proud of her even if I hate to see her go.

I hope you all enjoy your summer!

FROM THE MANAGER Mark Grisham • General ManagerIt feels somewhat surreal to be sitting here writing about Fall at the club while the temperature today is

in the mid-nineties, but here I am. We are always looking forward to where we can go next – and how

to improve the overall experience here at Turtle Point with new and fun events.

Our pool has been another great success this year for our club (thank you Peggy Claiborne) but just

because the pool is “closing” – does not mean the fun stops at the pool. We will keep the pool clean and

operational until weather shuts us down, and in the interim I would like to introduce Pigskins at the

Pool. We will have the featured SEC game displayed on our big screen at the pool, as weather allows, and Chef Kyle will have some

game appropriate fare for football. It is impossible to compete with football, but on those rare occasions you aren’t going to the game,

come out and watch it on our big screen at the pool and try some of Kyle’s wings.

As always if there is anything I can do for you please don’t hesitate to call.

Summer is in full swing and the golf course is really starting to look nice again. This spring wasextremely cool and wet, as most everyone knows we have had rain most every weekend this year. Thebermudagrass was about 3 weeks behind normal coming out of dormancy this year. This winter alsocaused some damage to the bermudagrass in places that saw high traffic and shade areas. Because ofthis we are continually trimming trees to allow more sunlight through the canopy. The more sunlighta turfgrass plant has the healthier it will become.

I would like to encourage everyone to fillyour divots and fix your ball marks. This isa common courtesy to your fellow golferwho is playing behind you. Les has said hewould make sure that we have bottles ofsand ready for those of you who walk. Pleaseuse them. The other topic of discussionreally needs to be cart rules. Carts shouldnever be taken closer than 30 yards to thegreen, and 90 degrees means you stay on thecartpath until you get to where your ball isin the fairway, go straight to your ball hityour ball then return to the cartpath in thesame fashion. Please help us with theseissues so we can continue to have one of thebest courses in the state.
