The Company was establishedin 1979 with the specific aim ofdesigning and supplying floatingpontoons for tourist harboursand in producing lay-outs forthe optimal use of port space.The experience gained in dealingwith problems posed by floatingstructures and the marineenvironment permitted theprogressive expansion of theCompany’s interests beyondthe marine sector.Today INGEMAR, together withtheir commercial sister companyIngemar Trading & Services,designs, constructs and instals fixedpiers, floating pontoons andbreakwaters, specialist platforms,floating bridges, equipment for thedistribution of essential servicesand harbour management.With these highly specialistcharacteristics the Group isexceptionally well placed to dealwith all problems posed by floatingstructures, layouts, moorings andharbour services. INGEMARoperates in Italy and abroad fromits offices in Milan and the factoryat Casale sul Sile, near Treviso innorthern Italy, where productiontakes place as well as design andplanning, installation and assistance.

FLOATING PONTOONS

Floating pontoons are now standardboth in modern marinas and inre-structured existing harbours,thanks to their adaptability, durabilityand practical uses.The relativeinsignificance of depth, speed ofconstruction, the possibilityof adding-on structures at modestexpense have all contributed to therapid expansion of these structuresin substituting traditional fixedpontoons.

Discontinuous pontoons:Type FE: galvanised steel structure,hardwood decking, reinforced floating concrete elements with expanded polystyrene core; they have a high stability on water and are suitable to specific needs of free board, overload and structural resistance.Type AL: has a load-bearing structure in aluminium which is ideal for well sheltered harbours where they combine maximum performance with endurance and aesthetics.Both types FE and AL are producedin versions with floating units ofplastic materials, making them idealfor shallow waters and seasonalremoval.

Continuous pontoons:Type CA/LE: all-concrete elementswith expanded polystyrene core and hardwood decking; they have a very high displacement, top stability on the water and the highest standard of finishing.Type CA/CLS: similar to Type CA/LE but with concrete decking; they are comparable to traditional fixedstructures.

FLOATING DOCKS

The modules are composed oflinked pontoons of various types,properly modified and reinforcedto comply with specific operatingconditions.The large dimensionof the modules, their very highdisplacement and notable freeboard height, assure a comfortfully comparable to fixed piers.These piers are destined formoorings in large harbours, as wellas on lakes, where they guaranteean appreciable reduction in surfacewave motion.

FINGERS ANDMINI-FINGERS

Mooring on fingers, indispensablewhere there are tidal fluctuations,are much appreciated as theyfacilitate manoeuvres and areeasily accessible from boats.These structures guarantee thebest utilisation of harbours andimprove the stability of pontoons.They also ensure maximumflexibility of landings thanks tothe ease of positioning the fingersaccording to varying yachtdimensions, and eliminate theexpensive underwater maintenaceof traditional moorings with chainsand sinkers.

FLOATINGBREAKWATERS

Traditional breakwaters aregenerally constructed of enormousconcrete blocks forming reefs -impossible in deep waters - andare permanent, rigid structures.The benefits of overcoming theselimitations with cheaper and moreflexible solutions, prompted INGEMAR to seek new possibilities using floating structures.Their experience in this field means that floating breakwaters can be installed in already protected conditions, such as lakes, sheltered ports and harbours, and where relatively cheap barriers free of ocean floor limitations are advantageous.Type F/CA floating breakwatersare the result of 20 years ofINGEMAR’s studies andapplications in this field.Theseare large prefabricated modulesmade of reinforced concretewith expanded polystyrene core,of large dimensions and withvery high displacement which,when linked together, createrobust, durable and extremelyreliable floating barriers -comparable to traditional fixedstructures.It is essential to know and understand the conditions inwhich they will have to operatein order to evaluate their efficiencyand security.

HARBOUR SERVICES

A complete and up to dateequipment system is now generallya must in all large sized marinas,but the most basic services arealso needed in minor touristlanding stages.INGEMAR’s activities also extendto designing, installing and providingtechnical assistance for thedistribution of water, energy,lighting and firefighting equipment,harbour management andenvironmental services.INGEMAR’s production alsoincludes various models of servicebollards and fire hose unitsdesigned to be functional andcomply with the latest and moststringent regulations.

WALKWAYS ANDFIXED PIERS

INGEMAR’s technologicalcapabilities have also beensuccessfully applied to theconstruction of fixed structuressuch as piers and walkways.The structural design of theframework, tested under difficultmarine conditions in combinationwith floating pontoons, means theycan meet mooring requirementseven in the most difficult andcritical circumstances.INGEMAR’s walkways and fixedpiers are characterised by lightstructures, minimal volumeand the least interference possiblewith the sea floor and hydraulicsystems on site.Employing natural materials andrespecting the shape of thecoastline, INGEMAR’s units blendharmoniously with theirsurroundings and are oftenintegrated with pontoons andmooring fingers.
