MISSION – The PORTAGE COMMUNITY CENTER’S role is to make life better for people in our community who need assistance with basic needs, youth development, healthcare education and supportive services.

VISION – The vision of the PORTAGE COMMUNITY CENTER is that every child and every adult thrives physically, emotionally, economically and socially in order to achieve his or her greatest potential in a vibrant and diverse community.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE – Emergency Assistance programs are available for income qualifying residents of the City of Portage and the Portage Public School District. Services include; a food pantry, financial assistance for evictions, utility shutdowns, medications and transportation.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT – Youth Development programs are available to all youth in the City of Portage/Portage Public School District – targeting those who are determined to be at risk or who are dealing with at risk issues. Programs include; tutoring, after school programs, summer activity program, substance abuse awareness, volunteer and community service opportunities.

COMMUNITY COLLABORATION – Programs are offered at the Center and are available to people living in Portage or surrounding communities. Examples include; American Red Cross Blood Drives, Loaves and Fishes, Kalamazoo County Bar Association Free Legal Clinics and Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services.
