Possessive adjectives show ownership or relationships between people. They are placed before the noun.

Here is somebody talking about himself.

“Yo tengo un perro negro.”

“Mi perro es negro.”

Now we will talk to this person.

“Tú tienes un perro negro.”

“Tu perro es negro.”

Now we will talk about this person.

“El tiene un perro negro.”

“Su perro es negro.”

Here is another person talking about herself.

“Yo tengo dos gatos bonitos.”

“Mis gatos son bonitos.”

Agreement with Possessive Adjectives

The possessive adjective must be singular if the noun is singular and plural if the noun is plural.
