General Observations from the CIO Benchmarks Many participants seem to be in a very immature state of Digital Readiness irrespective of
their business model or industry The aspiration of improvement in digital readiness across an 18 month horizon are
extremely optimistic Most observations were in FSI (Banking & Insurance), Healthcare, Education,
Manufacturing and Retail. Except for very few outliers, most of these industries reflected a similar level of immaturity and aggressive maturity perceptions.
We saw that out of the 6 dimensions of the business model, • Ideation had the most focus and highest maturity – out of the generally low maturity
scores • Monetization had the least amount of focus or priority for all but G2C organizations –
reflecting the “IT” mindset in the benchmark Many participants raised the issue of “digital born” companies tainting the picture for the
need to drive “digital readiness”. CXO’s need to realize that it doesn’t matter if an organization is “digital born” or legacy business trying to transform – the fact is competition is competition – and they will need to find a way to compete with the ‘digital born’ competitor threats too.
