ABOUT THE SHOW
Iran Food + Hospitality + Bev Tech is the most important trade show for food products in Iran.It provides a common platform for manufacturers, supplier and traders of food products and services from Iran and other countries to meet and collaborate.
During this edition in 2015 more than 951 companies from 25 countries, and 33000 unique visitors participated to launch and source new products for the Iranian market, network with industry professionals, find suppliers and generate new business.
The Iranian food market is one of the most important markets in the entire Middle East. According to WTO, during 2013 Iran imported agro & food products worth 13.140 billion USD from the world. The potential of Iranian market for Indian Agro & food exporters are supported by following trade statistics-
Iran imports 40% of India’s total basmati rice exports. Iran has imported 706,665 tons of basmati rice from India in the first nine months of FY 2014-15 (April- December). Iran offers a great potential for India’s cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose, in solid form, tea, barley, meat of bovine animals, frozen food, oil seeds, ginger, saffron, turmeric, thyme, bay leaves & curry, jams, fruit jellies & marmalades etc in Iran. Iran imported USD 42 million worth of barley from India during 2013-14. Iran imported USD 10 million worth of processed fruits & vegetables from India during 2013-14. India is the 3rd largest supplier for Iran in food and agro products category.
The India Pavilion during the 22nd edition of International Food, Beverages & Hospitality trade fair by Trade Promotion Council of India, 26 - 29 May, 2015.
An impressive line-up of 25 major Indian companies from food, rice, food ingredients and food packaging machinery sector participated in the India Pavilion, making it a grand success. The 40 member strong Indian food industry delegation was led by Shri Puneet Mahajan, Head- International Business, Kohinoor Foods Limited. Some of the other prominent Indian exhibitors in the India Pavilion were Keventer Agro, Bhagwati Lacto, SSP Pvt Ltd, MM Exports, Veer Overseas, Rajesh Industries, DRRK Foods Pvt Ltd.
The TPCI India Pavilion had a glittering inauguration by Hon’ble Ambassador of India Shri D P Srivastava in the presence of Shri Alam Singh Rawat, General Manager, APEDA. They were accompanied by Shri M K Parimoo, Addl. Director General, Trade Promotion Council of India along with other Indian and Iranian delegates.
After the inauguration, the Hon’ble Ambassador interacted with each Indian exhibitor to understand the difficulties faced by the Indian exporters while trading with Iran and answered their queries. Later that day, he also organised an interactive session on ‘Doing Business with Iran’ at the Indian Embassy premises in Tehran which was attended by Indian Delegates.
There was more in store for the next day as the Trade Promotion Council of India represented by Sr. Director Shri Rajesh Sharma, discussed trade related challenges faced by Indian business community with Tehran Chamber of Commerce & Industries represented by Mr. Mohammad Reza Bakhtiari, Deputy for International Affairs. During this interaction both organizations agreed to initiate the process for signing an MOU with each other for enhancing bilateral trade between India and Iran.
In a nutshell, the International Food, Beverages & Hospitality Trade Fair was highly fruitful. The delegates look forward to the enhanced trade cooperation and increased exports to Tehran.
