Power Copy:• A power copy is basically a copy of a group of features.

• It can have various inputs defined to modify it.

• It allows for an item to be reused in multiple situations yet keeping the same standard methodology of creation.

• Power copy can be instantiated from an existing document or a catalog.

• Once power copy is instantiated the user has access to all of the features.

• Using power copy all the features can be created as if they were created manually.

• It can be used after selecting from menu bar or directly from the customized Catia window.

(Go to the menu bar Insert Knowledge Templates Power Copy)

Knowledge Templates

Power Copy:• Definition Tab: It shows the features selected from

the specification tree for power copy creation along with inputs to these features.

• Inputs Tab: Inputs names and order can be changed as per our convenience in this tab.

(Important: Inputs should be properly defined.)

• Parameters Tab: All the parameters, constraints etc. are shown here which comes automatically after selecting any feature. If required these parameters can be published and also can be renamed.

• Documents Tab: It shows all the design tables or any other document connected with the features.

• Properties Tab: Visual properties of power copy can be modified here.

Creating a feature: (Wireframe Boundary)

End Point creation ensures the well defined location for hemi sphere creation.

Knowledge Templates

(Wireframe Boundary)

• Wireframe boundary on one extracted edge is to be used for power copy.

• Power copy will help creating boundaries at all the edges.

Knowledge Templates

Power Copy Creation1. Select the power copy option from menu bar.2. Change the name to Boundary in the definition tab.3. Choose the Boundary feature from the part tree.

Power Copy Creation• This is sufficient to create the power copy. • Power copy will be created in the part tree.• But for complete understanding of Power copy command all the other options

are also looked upon in consequent slides.

Knowledge Templates

Power Copy Creation1. Keep only the givable inputs in the “Inputs of components” section. Hence

“Selected components” section will only contain all the features to be created through power copy.

2. In Input tab name of input can be changed to “Line Input” for easy understanding.

Power Copy Creation1. In parameter tab radius parameter is published by double clicking and name of

parameter also changed to radius. Likewise other parameters can be published if required.

2. In document tab, there is nothing being shown as there is no design table is attached to the feature.1 2

Power Copy Creation1. In Properties tab, icon of power copy can be changed.

Use of Power Copy

Power copy will create the boundary feature for the selected input line.

Knowledge Templates

Use of Power Copy

• After instantiation, we need to select an input from the part.• Here we have selected extract.5 as highlighted.• Direction also can be changed of feature if it matters.• Ticking the repeat option, we can select multiple inputs without

closing the window.

Use of Power Copy

• After clicking ok, we will have our boundary feature created at the desired location.

• Similarly this boundary feature can be created on the required extracted edges.
