• Absolute Requirements
• Business Style– Presentation Criteria– PowerPoint Set Up
Presentations - Basics• 13 to 15 minutes with no over or
under times
• Everybody speaks,
– introductions of people and topics,
– transitions using names
– a clear, clean ending.
Presentations Performance
• Nobody reads from a prepared text – cue cards are okay.
• Voice– Loud enough,
– slow enough,
– expressive enough
• Clear strong gestures – no distracting gestures or grimaces
Presentations - Structure
• Required Structure
– Say what you're going to say,
– Say it in detail with examples,
– Say what you've said
• Solid, clearly explained info
Presentations - Backups
• Visual support during presentation
– web or PowerPoint etc.
• Usable information on Group's web page
– links to more information
– group member's email to answer further questions on areas of expertise
– by the following Monday noon
PowerPoint Appearance
• Little or no backgrounds
– minimal
• Simple font,
• limited colours,
• readable size
PowerPoint Layout
• No more than 6 bullets a slide,
• No more than 8 words a bullet
• No animation
– except for bullets appearing one at a time
PowerPoint Visuals
PowerPoint No-nos
• No paragraphs
• Few, if any, complete sentences
