EID GREETINGS 2017 /theppaf /ppaf /theppaf PPR workshop on value chains development To facilitate SRSP in value chains development across farm and non-farm sectors in programme areas, a joint exercise by PPR and SRSP was conducted in district Lower Dir. A detail value chain assessment format was shared with PO to collect the information from communities in all 8 Programme UCs of districts Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Bajaur and Chitral. The Government line departments were also consulted while collection of data related to major economic sectors, sub-sectors and potential produce of the area. Mr. Muhammad Ashraf, Assistant Manager PPR facilitated the value chain assessment workshop with the inputs of Ms. Lubna Javaid, Programme Director PPR and Ms. Sadia Sarfraz, Assistant Manager Activity Monitoring. This was fruitful exercise to build the future programme to address the majors gaps in whole supply chain e.g input supplier, producer and market for identified potential sectors of each union council. In addition, the future interventions under PPR are being designed to strengthen the values chain and eco-system of major sectors e.g. agriculture, livestock their sub-sectors, by products. Based on the data, two days consultation work- shop was held in SRSP office Lower Dir, where 12 team members from SRSP (8 male and 4 female) and 3 members from PPAF participated. Murad Ali - PPR 10m Euro Agreement for LACIP-II PPAF and KfW recently signed a 10 million Euros agreement for imple- mentation of LACIP-II in KPK. The agreement was signed during a recent visit of Ms. Elke Metzen, Senior Project Manager, Governance & Peace Division, KfW Frankfurt, Germany to Islamabad. Ms. Elke Metzen accompanied by PPAF’s officials also visited Swat, Buner and Shangla to review the progress and impact of LACIP interventions. The delegation had detailed meetings with officials of district government including Mr. Zariful Maani, Deputy Commissioner, Buner, Dr. Ubaidullah Khan, Dis- trict Nazim Buner and other officials. The representatives of communi- ties’ organizations shared impact of various interventions under LACIP on their lives. Global Sustainable Finance Conference 2017 Community Livestock Extension Workers training Mr. Amir Naeem, Sr. Group Head FMCA, participated in a recently held Global Sustainable Finance Conference 2017 organized by the European Organization for Sustainable Development-GmbH in Germany. The Global Sustainable Finance Conference was aimed to endure the process of learning and energizing the partners and join hands for creating a socially equitable and environmentally sustainable world. The conference dele- gates discussed issues pertaining to the reshaping the entire landscape of banking and finance and shared win-win solutions and great ideas for making financial industry a powerful player in creating a sustainable world. In a panel discussion titled “Financing Sustainable Development” Mr. Amir Naeem informed the delegates on varied initiatives of PPAF in community-driven development including formation of Pakistan Microfi- nance Investment Company-PMIC. The delegates also signed “Karlsruhe Resolution” on Sustainable Development Goals officially known as “Trans- forming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Nazakat Hussain - C&M Under Dera Bugti Programme, BRSP, BRDS and PIDS facilitated a group of 8 community resource persons (CRPs) of Dera Bugti for provi- sioning of 30 days extensive training as community livestock extension workers (CLEWS). This training was arranged at University of Agricul- ture Faisalabad (UAF) on the livestock management, vaccination & treatment and artificial Insemination. This training was especially designed by the UAF for the participants in reality of the local context of Dera Bugti, Balochistan. The training was bifurcated into different topics including medicine, surgery, artificial insemination, nutrition etc. These CRPs were given exposure to animal, dairy and other relevant farms within campus premises. After this training, the participants are able to provide livestock extension services in far flung UCs, provide treatment to livestock, help the line departments in conduction of field days and promote artificial insemination in the area. Team PPAF celebrating 70 years of Independence

CongratulationsMs. Johdah Bokhari has joined PPAF as General Manager-Program Activity Monitoring. She has more than 20 years demonstrated experi-ence of design and implementation of evaluation frameworks, moni-toring protocols, baseline surveys, case studies and reporting.

MER Unit organized a two-day Customized Capacity Building Workshop at PPAF office for PPAF Balochistan Monitors based in Quetta and new MER staff. The work-shop was aimed to enhance the capacity building of the staff on in depth understanding of PPAF other units and projects, report writing (outcome and progress monitor-ing), data validation during output and outcome monitor-ing, MIS utilization, procurement policies and procedures and ESM framework and key points for conducting quality audit and reporting.

In continuation with varied encour-aging revised employees benefits by Human Resources, two support staff members, Mr. Ehsan Ul Haq (Office Assistant) and Mr. Muhammad Asif (Office Boy) are awarded to perform Hajj next year with their spouses, announced at PPAF Retreat. Expressing his thoughts, Mr. Ehsan said that, I never thought of such blessed opportunity at this age. He appreciated the policy and paid spe-cial gratitude to top management for introducing this facility.
